Mate that was an excellent review and you covered all the important points. I like how you connected the heating to your auxiliary battery. Very smart. Cheers Mick
They are incredible. I’m about to buy a brand new vehicle, and one of my biggest concerns is having to downgrade in seating. No OEM seats will offer something this good.
Yeah I'm not sure why they couldn't add it, since they have the built in flip forward feature. I think in Germany where these are maid, they are going into vehicles with no space behind them, so they weren't ever envisioned for that purpose perhaps? It doesn't bother me, but it REALLY bothers her.
Yep u totally need a decent ergonomic seat in the old FJ Cruiser... I tried a few Recaro's , but now I am back in Australia , I too ordered scheel mann vario for my nissan patrol. Cheers
Oh man the stock seats were the worst! I am afraid to how my new trucks seats will compare to Scheel. And with new vehicles its increasingly hard to change the stock ones out.
@@IndependenceOverland definitely going to check it out. Would be nice if there was somewhere to test sit in one. I'm about exactly your height and weight.
Hey no problem, thanks for checking out the video! While your here, why don’t you take the Part 107 under my name! I haven’t had to study so hard in a loooooong time! Happy holidays Drone 360!
@@IndependenceOverland does seat cone with seat belts? After watching that jeep roll down the Hill on jailbreaks Channel I would definitely want to invest in a harness for off road
No these ones don’t, but there are models available that do. They aren’t harness style, just seat belts though. I’d personally hate having a harness on off-roading. You have to lean out to check your tires on rocks too often. If I had a trophy truck, it would be a different story.
$2k a piece, you can get a living room sectional for around that, man these companies really get you. Hope its amazing better be like a Volvo seat at that price. I do have to solve this issue because I am looking at 4runner/gx460/ fj cruiser as my next rig and all the seats look like very similar to our Lexus rx350 seats.
I too am not a fan of the FJ seats. Did you look at other options before settling on these? From what I have read seats out of an older GX 460 should bolt right in.
I think the armrests are side specific but I don’t remember exactly. I believe when you order you can get a left arm/right arm/ or both. Amazing seats!
@@IndependenceOverland Sorry, what I meant was, do both armrests fit on the driver seat with the door closed? I would really like to be able to have the left armrest as well as the right. Since the stock FJ seats only comes with a way to attach the inside armrest.
Thanks for the great video. I noticed you said the XXL wasn’t necessary, but do you still believe that now? I am similar to you... 6’ 1” and 190lb, and debating whether to get the XXL or regular. I don’t care about the cost difference, just want the best choice. Your thoughts?
I’m still on the fence. I do believe the Vario models is critical, the times I’ve driven for 16 hours straight the adjustments hade a huge impact. If I were a little bit wider in size, maybe the XXL would be completely necessary. I don’t regret buying the XXL though. So at risk of being dissatisfied, maybe go with the XXL so the decision doesn’t haunt you.
Oh, I’m definitely getting the Vario model, just debating whether to get the XXL or regular height. After speaking with Toby, he said that ideally, the top of the backrest should be aligned with or slightly above the top of my shoulders... and in your video that appears to be the case. So I guess technically speaking, you went with the right choice!
I'm unsure. My 07 didn't require any modification to the drivers side, only the passenger side. I believe the 08 and up got more safety features and airbags.
@@smithorjones2433 I took the sensor and forced it to be down, thinking someone is always in the seat. It’s a strong sensor so I drilled it out and put a bolt through it to keep it set.

I am not a fan of the factory seats in my 4Runner. Great info in this video. I've been looking at different seat solutions.
They are expensive, but every vehicle I ride in now I'm quietly judging its terrible seats in the back of my mind! Thanks for watching!

Thanks Michael! It’s nice being able to sit with the heat on and not have the truck running!
Getting one of these to use in a Sprinter. I spin my seat around and use a foot stool to recline and watch tv and read.
It’s worth it man, I appreciate them every time I drive.
Literally went hunting for a real review to judge size. 6'1" & 205# thanks you.

For $2000, it better be an amazing seat! That said, I have tremendous sciatica pain after a couple of hours driving in my FJ with the factory seats.
Exactly what I had man. I haven’t seen a single person but these yet and say they aren’t worth the coin. An investment for sure.

Posture is super important. 👍
Yeah it’s nice that they sort of force you to sit upright. I wish all chairs did that.

Gracias por los subtítulos en español. Tengo un defender 110 tú sabes si estos asientos se podrían colocar en mi coche?. Gracias.
Yes, they absolutely can and it would be far easier than what I had to do to make them fit in my Toyota!
Thank you so much. Very helpful review indeed 👏🏻

Yeah they’re up there in price for sure. They’re hand made in Germany and then shipped over, so that has a lot to do with it.
I too am not a fan of the FJ seats. Did you look at other options before settling on these? From what I have read seats out of an older GX 460 should bolt right in.
I considered an option like that, but the next vehicle may not be a Toyota, so I wanted something designed to be somewhat universal.
Do you have any videos on the led on that window?
Its more of a photography light, so I havent done any reviews but there are a few on RUclips. Heres the light. amzn.to/34MZ25g

Awesome! I guess I did it right then! Thanks for the info, I was curious about that!
What did you end up getting?
Im in the same situation trying to decide to go the XXL or not. Im just under 6'.
Is the heater switch built into the seat?
It comes with the switch, but you decide where to mount it. I just drilled a hole in my seat bracket plates so the switches were out of the way.
