Naoki's mom is seriously so good to Kotoko in all the versions! Here she hugs Kotoko when she's anxiously waiting for the results. Kind of like how she was there for Kotoko during her graduation too. She really treats her as her own daughter from their very first meeting. Kotoko's mom died when Kotoko was really young and so, having a mother figure is quite new to her. On the other hand, Naoki's mom really wants a daughter so their relationship is truly precious. Also, Naoki's mom is really similar to Kotoko 😂
But Naoki's mom has High IQ and high EQ
I can’t believe I’m rewatching kotoko go though it all & watch Naoki learn that he has emotions/feelings. And yet here I am..this show still gives me butterflies like when it first aired. I’ll probably find myself rewatch s1 & 2 again in a few months. This show has my heart in the palm of its hands.

I love how kotoko is kinda shy in the scene and is the one to withdraw her hand while naoki's hand sort of lingers even after she has removed hers. It's little moments like these that show how much he cares for her

Kotoko’s lack of sense of responsibility really irks me. At her age, she should have stronger conviction and stopped being immature. Her extravagant reactions and excessive daydreaming lessens the confidence and trust that her patients will have towards her. I know this is just a drama but Kotoko should know better. There is no excuse for ignorance, especially if its a never-ending cycle.
This is dramatization of a comic book. That is why kotoko is acting like that. Even her m-i-l is like her and her co-sister is going to be like her. 😂

I agree with you. I think at this time Kotoko should be more mature and doesn't always daydreaming in her work place. She should be more serious because her work related to other people (patients). Her mistakes could become something serious for other people
I prefer the Taiwanese version of the character. She was so pathetic and played for laughs. She was adorable and loved her husband but wasn't a stage 5 clinger like Kotoko in this version. I agree her facial expressions and physical reactions are too over dramatic.

He loves Kotoko's coffee, I've read somewhere that when a man insists on his wife's brewed coffee there is a deeper psychological and emotional tie with them spouses that sort of associates the smell of coffee to the warmth of home. When his father was hospitalized and she undercooked the taro root and every dish tasted horrible but still edible, he still ate it without complaining? Remember when Kotoko got so drunk on their first night of honeymoon and Irie-kun had to piggyback ride her to their room. She fell into deep sleep. All day Mari-chan, the slut from their honeymoon taunted Kotoko's way of calling Naoki "Irie-san" so while Kotoko is sleeping, Irie-kun called her "honey" and he smiled as if wishing that she would go that far into calling him honey so he could call her honey too. He keeps doing things that gets misunderstood most of the time. He does them quietly and voluntarily. I think that's called sincerity - to do something quietly for someone without asking for anything in return.
Also, notice how he always kisses Kotoko in the cheek or on her forehead after randomly staring at her talking and blabbering. Aww, Naoki! 😍

What I hate in kotoko is she always day dreams and can't focus on her work or something but I love kotoko I always skip the part when she is embarrassed I hate it too when they're leveling kotoko as baka when in fact she's not,she's just distracted by day dreams but when she puts her mind into something she excels in it,I love how kotoko always go for it she doesn't give up

I have noticed Kotoko isn't dumb, just very very distracted. She does everything alright when she's concentrated and sets her mind to it. Her willpower is what keeps her pushing despite being distracted.

When chris put naoki's hand on top of kotoko's, kotoko shyly removed her hand but naoki's hand lingers there and then he softly smiles at her. Hes so mesmerised in this scene that he doesnt even care there are people around. Small things like this show just how hard it was for him as well to he apart

People.....character development does not mean your personality undergoes a 180° change. Character development means your existing personality grows and develops.
Kotoko of season 1 and season 2 are not suddenly going to have different personalities. So yes, she's still easily distracted, she's still stupidly in love, she's still loud. But you know what? She's also more understanding, she's a good nurse once she focuses. And I mean a naturally good nurse. She's also matured because when naoki comes back and they throw a party at home, she's more aware of her surroundings and attentive. While before she would have been less restrained. She also handled the nami situation with a whole new level of maturity.
Naoki too has developed. He's still cold and aloof and has difficulty expressing himself. But he's leagues ahead of season 1 naoki. HE is the one who came to kotoko by transferring to her hospital. HE left kobe and came TO her. Season 1 naoki was affectionate when he realised his love but would have never gone to this extent. He loves his wife and proudly declares that she is his wife. He doesn't even get embarrassed by her antics anymore. He's much much more softer and attentive compared to season 1 and no it is not the bare minimum. He has zero expectations from kotoko. Does not pressurise her in anyway. Wants her to grow in her career but won't ridicule her if she fails, only motivates her in a way only she can be. He is cold and distant only when he is trying to figure out his own emotions. He knows he loves kotoko so he no longer fights that. He expresses that love freely. The only times we see him being cold are when 1) he was jealous because he didn't realise that the emotion he felt was jealousy and 2) when he was going to kobe because he too was worried about how he and kotoko would manage the long distance thing.
They have both developed and grown and matured. But they are essentially the same people they were in season 1. If either one was to change, they would fall out of love with each other

@mjaj2721 I think Kotoko is a kind of character who takes time learning & honing their new skills. When they do master it, they will become pretty good. The indication that Kotoko did become a pretty decent nurse you can see it when the previous Kotoko from the old series turned up in this series as an experienced & a accomplished nurse in season 1.
