I love it when you're so honest about what you snack and eat during studying! Most vloggers show that they eat nuts and chopped fruits (which is expensive as a student that lives on their self) but I bet most of them just snack chips anyway. Bring on the good stuff! Hope your exams are going well!
I admire all of you that can do these insanely amounts of studying in their 20s. I would have gone crazy. I can do this now in my 30s with pleasure. My maturity and discipline has come now. No regrets!
you have such a beautiful calm personality and you're very well put together. You're such a motivation! I truly pray for you and wish you all the best, you're going to be a great Doc! =)
Loving your channel! I'm a law student but I relate a lot to your vlogs - studying, reading and snacks :) It's nice to see someone living a similar life on RUclips.
Good luck studying Jamie! I have been watching your videos for a while now and I have been really really enjoying them! I know step exam can be a real beast and I know you will beat it!
All the best for your step 1! :) Watching your videos really keeps me on track in my studying. I have my med first year finals in 2 days! Super freaked
Would you say you study at the same pace you did in undergrad or are you able to study faster now? If you do study faster now, what helped you get better?
I feel like I study more efficiently but I also study a lot more... I suppose with the volume of material you have to master you have to get faster but also put in more time. It's definitely nice having to only study for one "subject" (i.e. all medicine/science related as opposed to history, science, and literature, etc). I think studying is one of those things where the more you do it the better you get at it. I feel like my study skills have improved a lot even from 1st year of med school to 2nd year. My tip is to find out what works for your learning style and improve upon it. I like to think about what comes to mind when I get an answer right for sure on an exam...I ask myself if I remember or know the answer from a video or audio that I listened to or a picture that I drew somewhere, a table that I made myself or a conversation I had with a fellow student. Figuring out how I retain information and implementing those technique to my study plans definitely helped.
It was so cool seeing your study space! Good luck with Step, I've been studying for the MCAT while you prepare for Step 1 and seeing your vlogs has been really encouraging!
Good luck on your exam! Do you listen to music when studying? I'm so easily distracted if I don't have complete quiet. Do you recommend an noise cancelling earbuds/earphones?
school's out for everyone except some medical students preparing for STEP I so there aren't too many people around. We're all struggling through the same process so there hasn't been any thefts. Most of the rooms are locked (ID-accessible) after business hours so that helps too
How's your exam? Hope your exam done well. I dont know why i adore how you study, it makes me better now, more diligent and cosistent in studying i wanna ask you how much you prioritised your time to sleep and study? Because until now i dont know how to finish my study target coz i always fall asleep before finish that huhu
good luck with your exam! what I love most about your videos is that you're quite sincere in your videos [usually not seen in other youtubers tbh]. I wanted to ask you since I'm not studying medicine in the US, so the USMLE step 1 isn't compulsory to take, is EBM/biostatistic a part of it? because I'd like to do a research and it caught my attention once you talked about them, where are you studying from for ebm/biostatistics? and thank you so much ♥
hey does anyone know where i can get some good earplugs (like the ones she showed on her studying cubicle) but also aren't crazy expensive. i feel like they'd help me concentrate but i have no clue as to which ones are good
i really make me happy when i see u study , i have biochem 1in med school on 29 and im scared and really lost my motivation and im tired after 6 exams . pls let me know u to say motivated and positive or any other tip. thank u
Hey!! Im Ainhoa from Venezuela, Im a med student Too and I want to do a residency in USA, So I would like to know how was your USMLE first step and how long did you study for it.. Thanks, hope u do a video explanning your experience on the examen. Bye
hi! I talked about my USMLE step 1 resources (books and websites) in couple of previous videos! check it out and let me know if you have any more questions
I love your videos!! I'm super interested in going to med school and your content is super helpful ☺️ Random question, but I'm also Asian and I've found that like with Asian noses, it's super hard to find a pair of glasses which fit on my face and stay there! Where are your glasses from? ❤️
Good Luck! I had a question, if you have late nights (midnight) when do you start your day? I am up at 5am and study for my MCAT all day and have to be in bed by 10pm or I'm just a zombie. lol
Thank you so much for the video! Even though your exam is so close by, good luck! What's your schedule like for exam period? When do you wake up/sleep?
in short I slept as much as I needed and studied as much as I possibly could haha I think if you set up your schedule this way it naturally ends up shifting later and later (going to bed later and waking up later). I didn't mind it for my board studying period bc I still woke up early enough every day that it didn't affect my actual exam day schedule (my exam started at 10am). For my regular exam periods during the school year, I stuck to my normal sleep schedule and went to bed between 10pm and midnight every night and usually on the earlier side. I liked waking up a little earlier on exam day and going to school early to look over some last minute stuff.
I went through the equations in the back of first aid. I ended up not really writing down much bc the board space was kind of limited but I don't think it really matters as long as you have those equations memorized. I also drew the 2x2 table from biostatistics section just for kicks
Hi, just saw your snap about finishing step 1.....first: congratulations, I hope all the hard work get rewarded 😌....second I have a question: did you get any questions outside of First aid or like a drug thats not mentioned in FA or anything like that...thank you in advance :)
I think I was listening to either audio lecture (pathoma) or sketchy medical videos in this video. for the most part I don't listen to music while studying.. if I do (rarely) it'll be music without lyrics like a random study music playlist on spotify
Did you take any gap years before going to med school or just after college? Also, I'm not a med student but I LOVE all of your videos! They help me stay motivated and focused on the prize! Currently an Industrial/ Organizational Psychologist in the making. :D
It's a withings activite watch. It tracks sleep and steps but looks like a normal watch. I added a link in the description box if you wanna know more about it.
You've got great taste and that's a great find. I've been wanting a dressy Orient Bambino but the functionality of a smart watch and this is a great compromise.
I am a M2 also getting ready to start studying for step1. I wanted to know if the tutorial software can be found online and what types of formula equations did you focus on?
tutorial software is found on the usmle website (only supports Windows). I focused on the formulas/equations on the back of First Aid and that was more than enough for my exam
Honestly - when I study I don't eat, my exercise is walking to and from Uni, and I have loads of books...are you a med student, or pre-med...because you are not doing the amount of work required of a degree x
Curious to know what is the amount of work needed? I watch all her videos and she seems to do nothing else but study. She has to eat and sleep. There is no more time left.
+Sine Analysis I don't think she's doing a medical degree; I think she's a pre-med. I don't know any med student who gets > 4-6/24 sleep night, who has time for the gym, movies etc., during deadlines, or exams. Most will tell you there isn't the time to get through all of the reading never mind leisurely pursuits.
I am in medical school. I finished my Step 1 in June and just started my 3rd year clinical rotations. You are not eligible to take Step 1 unless you are enrolled in/have graduated from an accredited medical school. Plenty of people in my class work out, keep up with TV shows, hang out with friends on weekends, and even travel. During the first two years of medical school, all these things are possible because the lectures are recorded and we can sort of make our own schedule (at least at my school).
During step 1 time, I pretty much did nothing else but eat, sleep, study, and work out. I had a dedicated step 1 preparation period (as most medical students do) during which I didn't really do much of anything else. This is pretty different from "regular school year" when you tend to have a bit more free time to do other things
Med School needs to get away from that rote memorization regurgitation modality and move towards totally being a team based learning approach. The old ways do not make great physicians only disgruntled stressed out loners. It's an old outdated method of cramming large amounts of information in a short period of time as if it means something.
It's my dream to be a docter and Iam fear that I will not make 98 Iam so fear so I watching a vid for a students like you, you guys give hop and power to keep up study 😙
almost everyone in school this time of the year is medical students preparing for STEP I so we have sort of a honor system/support thing going on in study spaces. we're all going through the same struggle so there hasn't been any thefts thankfully.
I love it when you're so honest about what you snack and eat during studying! Most vloggers show that they eat nuts and chopped fruits (which is expensive as a student that lives on their self) but I bet most of them just snack chips anyway. Bring on the good stuff! Hope your exams are going well!

so you have time to work out, sleep well, prep your food and study for medical school.
now that's managing your time well... i'm such a failure lol
oh and manage a successful youtube channel. geez!
I love how your intros start with food haha
same lol
I love food! Haha
Instead of studying Med I watching You studying great!!

you have such a beautiful calm personality and you're very well put together. You're such a motivation! I truly pray for you and wish you all the best, you're going to be a great Doc! =)

I did a little traveling and also worked in a research lab!
Please do a workout routine! Love your content!
Good luck on your exam! Do you listen to music when studying? I'm so easily distracted if I don't have complete quiet. Do you recommend an noise cancelling earbuds/earphones?
How do you stop yourself from procrastinating and/or being unmotivated?
Wouldn't people steal ur stuff if you leave ur food and books there
school's out for everyone except some medical students preparing for STEP I so there aren't too many people around. We're all struggling through the same process so there hasn't been any thefts. Most of the rooms are locked (ID-accessible) after business hours so that helps too
Good luck for you exams👍🏼👍🏼🙏🏽
I tend to study at school when I feel lazy or unmotivated, is it the same for you?
Could you do a video on your interview experiences in the med school application process? And also if you have any tips! Good luck on step! ^_^
How's your exam? Hope your exam done well.
I dont know why i adore how you study, it makes me better now, more diligent and cosistent in studying

Random question, but I'm also Asian and I've found that like with Asian noses, it's super hard to find a pair of glasses which fit on my face and stay there! Where are your glasses from? ❤️
Haha not random at all! It's actually one of my most asked questions. It's from Tom Ford, I'll put the link in the description box
Good Luck!
I had a question, if you have late nights (midnight) when do you start your day? I am up at 5am and study for my MCAT all day and have to be in bed by 10pm or I'm just a zombie. lol

i love your videos! i'm from El Salvador ;)
when r u taking ur board exam? and which books r u studying for it?
Can you share your marker board topics that you wanna write down before exam ?
I went through the equations in the back of first aid. I ended up not really writing down much bc the board space was kind of limited but I don't think it really matters as long as you have those equations memorized. I also drew the 2x2 table from biostatistics section just for kicks

Hi, just saw your snap about finishing step 1.....first: congratulations, I hope all the hard work get rewarded 😌....second I have a question: did you get any questions outside of First aid or like a drug thats not mentioned in FA or anything like that...thank you in advance :)
Hi, do you listen to music while studying? I've noticed you had your earphones plugged while reading.
I think I was listening to either audio lecture (pathoma) or sketchy medical videos in this video. for the most part I don't listen to music while studying.. if I do (rarely) it'll be music without lyrics like a random study music playlist on spotify

Do you study with music? Do you have a fav playlist?
I usually don't but if I do I use random study playlists on spotify (music without lyrics)
Best of luck! :)
Missed your vids😄
how much do you guys priotise sleep? like on average how many hours of sleep will you get during study periods? x
Is it hard to balance making RUclips videos and going to med school?
I usually just film on Saturdays, so it's manageable. If I have a busy month coming up I try to film multiple videos in one day.
I love your videos 😘
Good luck! ^_^
Is there a research before you graduate med school?
nice video.. hope exame done well.
I am a M2 also getting ready to start studying for step1. I wanted to know if the tutorial software can be found online and what types of formula equations did you focus on?
tutorial software is found on the usmle website (only supports Windows). I focused on the formulas/equations on the back of First Aid and that was more than enough for my exam
thank you so much
will u study there untill the exam finish? ?
In Iraq you have to make 98 from 100 to be a medicine school

Your gum looks like that korean brand of gum that is super minty and strong, i love korean gum hehe

I hope your step 1 went well, you deserve a good score after your hard work!

I was wondering the same thing.
