- Drag 0n was a young 17 year old that came around the same underground scenes DMX would battle at, and one day he’s placed in the ring to battle none other than DMX. According to Drag, the two battle for about an hour with DMX winning every round. But, that day a respect was shown to Drag on for having the stamina and rhymes to take it their with a phenom like DMX by everyone in the room, especially DMX, who saw much of himself in Drag on, and because DMX was so hot at the time, anything he said was pretty much how things went. Drag on was signed in 97 and placed under the wing of DMX as his protege. He was like X’s little brother. He dropped a certified gold album on his debut, but from things things within the industry went down hill.

Drag-On was promising back in the day. Like X, but not as much, he had something unique about his voice. But a part of me always felt he left more to be desired with his bars... what say you
I thought his voice sucked and his bars were clean. I’ll say his delivery was never consistent, almost like silk the shocker, but with actual word play
@@kingyeti6336 stop that bullshit, he rapped far better than silk. He was on beat all the time. His second album was promoted poorly in virgin records and ruff ryders did not take care of him. He eventually left after that.
@@i_am_gohan9232 I didn’t say he wasn’t better than Silk. Can you fkn read?
The Juelz Santana (Diplomats) of the Ruff Ryders.
Have you done one on Sauce Money yet? Jay-Z definitely emulated his rap style and flow.
Drag is one of the most underrated lyricists…I never heard a wack verse
Facts , SAY THAT SHIT FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK
Never heard a hot song by him.
@@kcross4293 yea, you are definitely a K-pop fan Smfh
@@kcross4293 You been livin under a rock listening to mumble rap
RIP DMX … Gone but Never Forgotten … 🙏🏿
🐕🏆🗽💯
Prayers up
Drag was the protege everyone was rooting for…he was definitely the Scrappy to Scooby Doo
FOH 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Drag and Memphis bleek
Most people hate Scrappy (cuz he was annoying) so bad comparison, fam.
Yeah he was
Him And X should of formed there own duo group with every track produced by Swizz.
& Just Blaze
That album would have been a classic
They could’ve been done that, I wonder wtf it never happened
Faxx
Drag to the dash is a GOAT. He never got the respect he deserved because he wouldn't sell out. His new ish is phenomenal. Barz for days....
FACTS , that’s why I’m in these comments on these NIGGAS HEADS… AINT FINNA PLAY MA DOG LIKE THAT🤣
@@judas_cobane Get em' OG!
It's so funny how people think of DMX of his drug addiction but they won't show love his genius of his art genius my my favorite album is his first album no skips it speaks the soul of my soul whatever I've been going through look into my eyes it's my favorite record
Down Bottom, Scenario 2000 & Let’s Talk About w/Eve are my favorite tracks with Drag-On! He delivered with the bars! 🔥🔥🔥 I always wondered what happened to him & RIP DMX!
Down bottom legendary
Most definitely. Loved Twisted Heat with him and Twista too.
@@khaliddontplay818 that was in my hood
Fam go check his yT

Drag is STILL spittin' fire! 🔥
THANK U da big word is STILL n people sleepin smh wen X was makin dat las album I wondered y dey didnt get Drag On on dere Drag was spittin 10 times betta den X b4 he passed jus keepin it a buk
youtube.com/@Firemandrag
@@judas_cobane I'm hip. I've been a subscriber for years.
Yeah he is
Don’t think could be next DMX but him & X could definitely been a duo
DRAG-ON IS AND HAS STILL BEEN KILLIN IT TO THIS DAY. STAY DROPPING NEW MUSIC.
Drag-On never became a leading man, but he was definitely one of the best supporting cast members! He always came through on X's albums, the Lox, Eve, the RR album's. He played his role.
Dude was a punchline master
The world wasn't as excited about Drag-on as DMX.
His song with Juvenile was fie tho
Drag - on Is proof MC's can get better with time. I thought he was GARBAGE in his Ruff Ryder Days - dude literally made a whole album ONLY comparing himself with similies and Metaphors to the the opposite of H2O!! LMAO. If ever there was a one-trick pony MC - its him....I give him major props for ever being able to get attention for himself with that freestyle series because THAT was fire! Can't think of another rapper that went from making a Coffee Toaster Album to somebody I actually like to hear spit bars
Drag ain’t really care about his rap career that much. He was super talented and held his own in lyrical spars with X, Styles, Kiss, Sheek, Eve and whoever they put him on a song with. He showed up whenever he was called on that’s all that matter, he didn’t want more for himself.
You know him personally???
@@eib3137 naw I’m a fan and he said this in interviews and on a live he posted after X died…. You know him personally?
ALLL FCKN CAP youtube.com/@Firemandrag
I agree with your growth stunts. I felt the failure to follow up his gold debut album with a solid sophomore LP killed his career. I don't even remember the single off his 2nd LP. Drag didn't get enough support from da RR for his albums. Where is the killer callobs with X, Lox, Eve, and beats from Swiss. I like drag-on as a lyricist.
@boozywoozy73 the single from the second album was Put Your Drinks Down. Promotion for that album was horrible. I still have it on cd. Still a true Drag fan
@@marioburrell4957 I'm going to look it up on RUclips
I Used to defend Drag-on when people thought he couldn't rap. Still a fan
Drag-ON ‘s flow is literally fire 🔥. Flame 🔥 ON
He just needed a production like dr Dre. Because of his voice & style
Why you say that
I always felt Drag was a secret ghost for X. Especially when X would tap into them multi syllable pockets, like on the Grand Champ album
I don't think Drag-On wanted to be as big as X
youtube.com/@Firemandrag
Why you say that
No😮
This was definitely one of the most requested ones.
You are absolutely correct
Idk why youtube.com/@Firemandrag
Funny thing is idk why I didn't think to ask for this stunted growth being I enjoy Drag-Ons music. He's still great he's just not mainstream. I started listening to him thanks to him being on Cassidy's MMM remix. His lil verse was fire so I was like I need to hear this guy's music and went on a rabbit hole of his latest music.
Here it is youtube.com/@Firemandrag
This why I love this channel
Salute 🙏🏾
I rock with Drag...listening to his freestyles now, fam may be even more lethal now than he was back then. But he was never going to be the next DMX. That's like saying Bleek was going to be the next Jay-Z. Or Banks the next 50. They're dope, but lacked the star quality or charisma of X, Jay and 50. Not taking anything away from them, but their careers were not going to reach the heights of the giants they stood next to. Success would look different for them, and that's not a bad thing. Everyone is not supposed to be a superstar, some are just regular stars. Find your place in the universe and shine on.
All I know is that Drag-On & Juvenile somg still bump til this day..
🗣TIL THIS DAY!!!
He was the Memphis bleek of the ruff riders lol 😂🤣🎯💯💯
🎯
WRONG AGAIN!
youtube.com/@Firemandrag
You should do a stunted growth On rocko da don it seem like after he dropped his first album Self Made which was solid and had the hit Umma Do me he never capitalized on the momentum…
I think with Rocko he wanted to play the background and dropped dope stuff but his artists on A1 never really popped and at the time he had another dude named Future that really took off so he really didn't have to try as hard after that. Wordplay 2 was fire by the way.
@@diamondd8017 Yeah I heard of that Future guy I think he doing pretty good 😂.
"Homophobic opening" lol...in 1999 nobody gave a damn or had the sensitive ears yall got nowadays to even notice. The song just got lost in flood of good music that was dropping in 99 and 00
Thanks stunted growth! Finally
🙌
Drag-On killed the Ruff Ryders Anthem Remix😊
Do MC Hammer next! He could possibly be on a stunted broke video also
Great coverage!
Love your channel for years, can you do Sheek Louch?
What
All we need now is that "ruff ryders" and "Eve" !
Drag still making music and still is 🔥. That sunday to sunday go hard
That era with J-Hood, Drag, Fab, and others was definitely a great one.
I hope you do something on us black producer's and game developers as well brother
Love ya channel i would like to see it expand and grow
That BET FREESTYLE WAS FIYAH 🔥🔥🔥
So cool !!! Diamond in the ruff . Do one on lil romeo prob
Also, can you please do a video on Lil Kim, Young MA, Yo Yo, YG, Saweetie, Will Smith, Boyz II Men, Jodeci, Logic, Alessia Cara, Alicia Keys and Azealia Banks
Drag dash on ,,, man's better then last 9 years of XXL freshman covers
The Opposite of H2O was very underrated
I still listen to drag on. Barz on fire 1 to 4 is sick.
Man I had the bootleg as a kid the week before it drop. Dudes buzz was crazy. I was way too young to be listening to that
Hell and back album was 🔥🔥 he always been the artist if u in tune, you know 💯‼
DmX was never an Interacope artist. Drag was on RuffRyders/ Interscope.
Another solid video
Yup everything you said was right on point…the main issue was RR had too many hitters and he got lost in the sauce. Drag bars sounded out dated after awhile plus Cass flow was more entertaining and clever but either way Drag still will go down in the Bars Book for them 2 years he was on fire similar to JR Writer
I still listen to his pandemic freestyles.. fya
Groundhog's Day has one of the illest hooks ever.
That one with juvy ! Down bottom a classic!
Idk about being the next DMX but he was definitely 1 to watch for
BX stand up! 🗽🗽🗽
Drag still got bars...now!!!
This is kind of similar to Memphis Bleek. When you beside such a titan you have to set yourself apart. Drag-On was a talented artist but he didn't do anything special to be the top act.
Drag still spitting tho
Bro this just popped in my head, that group Trillville.......... they had that "never ever ft lil jon" in the music video they were rapping on top of a cheese bus and that other song with the beat sounding like a squeaky bed "what is hoe, awassup 🎶"....... what the hell happened to those dudes 🤔🤔🤔
Neva Eva was fire.
Imagine if we got an X/Tupac album though?
I was never a fan of him, but i do like his youtube freestyles, he sounds fresh.
Do stunted growth on Backwudz from Decatur Ga. And Field Mob.
He did one on Field Mob.
I'm from #BrownSubz305‼️
The situation which killed @DragOn's career/credit was the battle he did against My Boi @Pitbull I was there! There's a reason why Nobody beefs with @Mr.305 it is cause he's Extremely Dangerous/Nice with his lyrics, but you would've never known that if you ain't from #Dadecounty305 #TRUSTME🤨 @Pitbull is Extremely underrated, even though he's one of the biggest commercial cause that's where the Real Money at, but don't let that fool you 🤐‼️
one of my fav rapperz...luved his voice and style. Opposite of H20 is a klazzic in my book
Can you do fatal hussein from the outlawz or the outlawz period
just knowing about Drag-on and this era of hip-hop makes me feel old as hell lol..RIP X though, there was a larger Atlanta presence with Luda but Outkast put the A on the map long before this.
I still rock wit Drag. So underrated still! Wtf?
He's like Memphis bleek. Lil cease Caddillac Tah his position was Side kick to a Superstar though he was nice I think that made him overlooked and also the LOX were popping round that time
Spit these bars was 🔥🔥🔥
You said his first album was received well critically but I have to disagree. The Source gave that album two and a half Mics and that made Drag-On very upset. Personally I feel like that stunted his growth
This story needed to be told
Was my favorite rapper back in the day… up until dropping his album lol
youtube.com/@Firemandrag
What happen too Post Boy that Jurassic Harlem and that 25 deep 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 and when he spiit in the Booth BET with fAB 🔥🔥🔥🔥
He survived cancer, but lost a testicle in the process.
never heard of Drag-on before this video 🤷♀️
I'm here to comment to say drag-on nasty verse is on the ruffryders song
We need a Gravediggaz Stunted Growth
Can you please do a video on Vic Mensa, Amy Winehouse and Xxxtentacion
Down Bottom is a hit. Same with the song Drag-On did with Eve.

Stunt number one. Expecting Drag-on to be DMX.
You should do one on Bad Azz
Forgot about this dude like Petey Pablo great episode brother
No he wasn’t he was just DMX lil mans😂
Not the next DMX. but he was dope
Opposite of h2o that was my ish..
Suitable for winter season shiid
I thought he was literally DMX real lil bro GROWIN up 😂 they do look similar.
One of my best friend's favorite rappers.
Drag still going hard wit hood environment
Drag-On was nice 🙌🏾
Drag still go in!!
Well.....what happened to "Drag On" is He Speaks With A Studdah....But He Rhyme Well".....!
😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Down Bottom is the shit
Word
That's what I hate about the music industry. They're always looking for the next somebody. Who wants to be the next anyone when you already the first you?
So I'm just the only one that didn't think they were actual brothers?
Drag -on is a real lyricist
He's still dropping music
Drag still makes fire music.
YOU SHOULD DO CHILL ROB G
Opposite of H20 was on repeat when I was only like 13
Nothing aint happen to drag..he still spitting
I still have my Opposite of H20 album !!! The beats weren't that bad. Drag-On sounded like he was Baby Cam'ron to the point where Cam'ron had to dumb down his lyrics.
Fr! - Cam really did dumb it down!
@@carlitocollasol5839Hell yeah. Cam became known for having the computers putin and wearing Pink
When I first heard Drag-On, I thought he sounded more like Cam'ron. And in a Source interview, he was compared to Cam'ron and he responded with being next-level which led to a minor beef between them. Lyrically, he was meh, but he had some standout moments like Down Bottom and Spit These Bars.
Next Stunted Growth suggestion: Tha Dogg Pound.
Ha! Word! I was ab to write this. Also I remember folks was saying Cam's "Let Me Know" was a subliminal diss to Drag.
Sounded notingggg like cam✌🏾
@@scorpiostingstung back then he did....cause both sounded like x
