I learn so much listening to Dr. Healy. She speaks in a way that is deep and rich yet very simple for me to retain. I’m so interested in listening to more!!! Thank you both.
As a seminarian, I’ve been reading through the story of salvation again. I am currently talking Christology at the seminary and it was breathtaking learning who Christ understands himself to be in the Bible. It made me just wanted to read through the story of salvation. I am currently at the Patriarchs so this talk was perfect for me. God grant the both of you many years!
I can't believe I sat thru this. I'm not one to listen to anything that's an hour long or longer, but I'm so glad I did this time. I'm so happy I did the BIAY and that I can recall some of the stories and that I did learn some things and that I remember them. Thank you, Jesus. Honestly enjoyed this and even cried. #Blessed. Thank you.
The Catholic Commentary on Sacred Scripture book series is an awesome resource. I am so glad we will be getting a set for the Old Testament! Can’t wait!
I love Dr. Mary Healy so much! I could listen to her talk all day long. I first came to know her by reading her commentary on the Gospel of Mark. It really helped elevate the way I read and learn the Bible. I feel so close to our Lord when I read and learn. Dr. Healy is such a gift 🙏🕊
I am a Presbyterian and have read a lot of commentaries on Hebrews. I just finished Mary Healy's commentary and it is one of the best I have ever read. I find it amazing that her work is so pastoral, knowing she has never been a pastor herself. She is such a great gift to the Church!! I am definitely getting her commentary on Mark next.
When those who would dismiss these revelations as totally patriarchal. There are many many great and strong women in the Bible. Esther, Judith, Ruth, Mary, Mary Magdalene, Martha, etc.
This is a treasure. Have already recommended it to others. Can't wait for more. And by the way, good to see Jeff Cavins back to share his depth knowledge. Haven't seen him since EWTN back in the day.
This is so Amazing worth. listening to over & over. Such richness. Thank you so much to you all. May God inspire you to do more of these talks. So enriching 🥰🙏❤️
I think I need to listen in. My husband and I just finished BIAY day 268 and as Fr. Mike was talking I was thinking, why do I feel a greater love or devotion to some of the OT prophets than I do to Jesus's apostles. Than I scrolled down and came across this. I am going to listen in. It sounds interesting.

Oh my! She is a saint ! I will find her and her writings. Her voice is kind but she speaks with authority! She inspires more than Listening to Bible in a year and not as flowery and verbose as the honorable and most respected Bishop Barron. When we say, "G-d spoke to Abrahm," do we think it was a straight forward single message in one shot, or maybe did he receive a series of smaller intuitive notions, that he collected and then concluded over? Sometimes what happens over time is ...over-succinct, for various reasons. Thank you!

WHY it is that so FEW children born to Patriarchs such as Abraham and Noah? How could they be so Old and have so few kids? Noah didn't have ANY grandkids at age 500 when arc was built?! Mmm... Make that make Sense bc IT DOESN'T.
Rather anachronistic to impose the modern (secular) concept of 'patriarchal bias in writing' to the ancient Hebrew scriptures, even if that may be a 'point of view' popularly held today. It's not an appropriate theological view because it does not take into account the many roles females played from Eve to Rachel, Esther to Bathsheba, in good and bad ways, to relate the 'truths' about God's covenant relationship, including that of the Blessed Virgin. I would have expected Dr Healey to have corrected that modernist view by offering the Magisterium's accurate and balanced view. To say that Scriptures held an oppressive view of women seems to also take Paul's teaching completely out of context and applying it across the Bible. Gender (or the sexual identity and function) is part of creation and is not part of our eternal expression of fullness of life in God. Disappointed. Divine law stipulates to honour 'mother and father'. The Jewish Talmud and commentaries also never offered oppressive views towards the matriarchs, and women were clearly prominent or key players - whether we think these were to deceive or tempt etc as in the case of Issac or Joseph.
Great words spoken by a man. Indeed, maybe if recognized early on, the outspoken feminist movement wouldn’t have been so bold and out of context? Interesting thoughts. Thank you 😊

Awesome!!! How does the catholic commentary on sacred scripture differ from The Summa Theologica of St. Thomas Aquinas??
Please add the link to her research.
Idk why Jeff Cavins clings to this protestant idea of "writing in your bibles" and even tries to use it as measure of how faithful someone is
Because they’re theologians, it’s their job to make notes and commentary.
