Not a 8N nor a Jubilee, it's either a 600 series or a 601 series. There will be a stamping on the horizontal portion of the transmission just behind the starter on the left side of the tractor. Those carburetors you can’t turn those main jets no tooth turns that time you change the fuel level on everything and you will never be able to get that thing right what you need to take it just real slow. I seen the tractor on a tractor pulling less than a quarter Car about the same thing they put on all the old tractors just a different size BORE use the same carburetor for used cases engines. I’ve seen those carburetors and carburetor are used on a lot of different things. You learn. Have fun. Be safe. May God bless.
Looks like it might be either a jubilee or a workmaster and not an n series Ford. But it is possible that they could have swapped those parts from another tractor. That was a jubilee or workmaster because it’s all they had which would make it a very unique homemade tractor and I would leave it exactly as is maybe do a cosmetic restoration on it and of course, mechanical but restore it back to the way they built it. But I definitely think it’s a jubilee or a workmaster and they probably meant. NAA Which would make sense as well
My cousin has the twin to that tractor , we put a clutch in years ago , we are talking about getting it running again lately , and no I dont think he wants to sell it . On the front of his tractor book it says 601 to 801 .
That is a 601 Workmaster series, model 641. A 621 has no PTO or 3 point system. A 641 has a PTO, and 3 point system hydraulics, with a 4 speed. 4 speed Fords had no live PTO, only 5 speeds and select-o-speeds had the option for live PTO. 4 speeds had a transmission driven PTO like the n series did. And there is no way the 134 made 48 hp. Heck, the 172 in the 800, and 801 series only made in the low to mid 40hp range, and that tractor is a beast for the size of it.
Excellent video Hank :).think.that is FORD Jubilee tractor also fender are backwards too and not 8N or 9N or 2 N or Ferguson one for sure ! Very interesting tractor for and setup plus with Mopar Chrysler Alternator on also exhaust over Left headlights! But I sure don't had my shock to many times on Electrical Fence on Machinery shed zap on my CB base radio station antenna setup on home farm when rain or foggy weather! Feel zap on radio on wooden work bench Zap and it was so wild !
You had one backfire through the carb. That would suggest timing is off. Firstly, the point gap will need to be properly set (a business card usually does the trick). Secondly, I noticed when you were putting the dust cover back on the distributor and before you put the rotor on, I didn't see you put the spring clip that goes on the distributor shaft that properly positions the rotor before the rotor is put on. Without it, the rotor will fit very loosely and severely affect the timing which is probably why it backfired through the carburetor. Definitely not ruling out a fuel issue on top of that, but remember, a lot of ignition issues will appear to be fuel issues and vice versa. If I lived closer, I'd help you out and would likely have it running in very short order.
I have a 601 power master, gas powered tractor that looks identical to the tractor in the video I also have a 801 work master, diesel powered tractor that looks like it also but different colors
I think 🤔 it will run 🏃 and it a jubilee not a 8n the exhaust is suppose to go down and bend and straight out to the back of the tractor 🚜 you have a great day working on the tractor 🚜
Definitely NOT an 8N. Without looking at the numbers I'm sure it's a 600, year can be told from the numbers on the motor. I have a 61, 641. Don't tell there is no such thing cause I have proof. It was built in Canada and spent it's life there till I bought it in 1991. It's somewhat unique in that it has power steering. Everything has been rebuilt over the years, runs great, but it does need paint. Good luck!
Right under the air filter just in front of the starter is a flat spot, the type of tractor is stamped there.. the fuel shut off is on the bottom of the tank, follow your fuel line and it's a small screw you turn in clockwise to shut off.. the points gap is .25 and carb adjustment is fuel 2 turns out and air 1 turn out
Good job Hank! I always keep the choke closed until it starts, then release it. It could be the choke sticking. But a carb kit will definitely help. Certainly can't hurt! Thanks for sharing!
How much did you pay, I hope it's not the Chinese one? Been down that route. Make sure you measure stud distance. It's a pain to wallo out manifold holes. 8 n is opposite from 600 to 4000 series. All China does is swopes top end of carb so it will fit 136 or 172. I have an India manufactured to ford specs. To bad I can't share a picture in here. A steel rebuilt is $400. A Chinese carb is $19.95 .India carb is $185. Mines listed at 125 in market place
You need A torch tip cleaner's set blue.,or gray kind wires and some gum out carb and choke cleaner spray. PB blaster. And A new pitcock for that machine. The pitcock needle jet through hole is clogged up.,an the main jet and with the air fuel screws are to. Check ever port hole including the float bowl flow vent tube drain. Along with the circulation vent hole in that carburetor body and top body halves.
If it were me I would take the carb completely apart and soak all the parts in an ultrasonic cleaner. You will probably need that rebuild kit though. Looking forward to seeing the old lady run 👍
For future reference, when you had the bowl off the carburetor, you can check the flow of fuel by lifting up on the float. With that carb on the tractor and bowl removed, raise the float to stop fuel entering the carb if the needle isn't plugged. Float down, fuel should flow. The float needle is clogged and stopping fuel flow,,
Carb cleaner is ok but if the needle valve is stuck closed it won't go through. The pin has to be pulled that holds the float on. Needle valve touches the top of float to shut off fuel. Pull needle valve down and fuel should run out. You should be able to blow air in the fuel inlet and it should stop when the float raises. Turn mixture screw in till lightly seated then out 1 1/2 turns, when it starts you can adjust it finer. It's safe to assume that if it was running before, carb and points were set right.
IT’S A 641! 621 was no hydraulics or PTO. There are SO many people that don’t know what model their tractor is. Don’t be one of those idiots! 1958 or 1962 from your goofy serial number.
I've hit hard times right now okay but I'm just tuning in to your channel and stuff and it's been helping me get through these hard times I just had to go for a heart test today and I'm going to be back in the hospital again on unfortunately call for an MRI on my neck but I'm glad that you've been putting out videos cuz it's really nice that I can watch as you do a lot of awesome things whether it's stuff that you do or with your grandkids or with your wife it's really awesome
The stamping on that boss just below the air filter will have the numbers that tell you exactly what it is. That boss is the one with the two threaded holes in it.
Looks like my old tractor I ran for 20 years and sold few years back….its a NAA model that was a short production series for part of 1953. It’s been swapped around a bit and the sediment bowl has been moved and isn’t doing much sediment collection where it’s at….it goes at the outlet at bottom of fuel tank, where the fuel shut off wheel is located. Looks like it’s been moved when they rigged the exhaust to run out the front side. You’ve got to remove the jets to clean the carb as spraying isn’t doing much…there’s a drain screw at bottom of carb bowl to see if fuel making it into the carb which I doubt. It was origally a 6v positive ground and has been converted to 12v Neg ground which is common….but you shouldn’t be constantly churning on the starter with the 12v system. It’s robust but designed for 6v….can handle the shorts but not constant churning. I would clean carb and go ahead and change the condenser (notorious for going out on the conversions like that). Also, just a suggestion but stop with the starting fluid as your trashing what’s left of the rings and cylinder walls - especially on motors that have been sitting like that. There so should be a fuel screen on top of where the sediment bowl is supposed to be located (bottom of fuel tank connection). If I recall correctly, the primary jet (big carb screw) should be 1.5 turns from full close….dont crank it closed hard though or it will be damaged. Also, you mention under pressure - the fuel is gravity feed and that’s an updraft carb so there’s no pressure and no fuel pump. It’s a simple setup (if coil is good, points and condensor and fuel it will run). I will tell ya that ethanol fuel will boil in that fuel tank on a hot day, especially with the way that exhaust is setup. Ethanol fuel has lower boiling point…once that happens it will shut down until cools off. Same symptom as a failing condenser.
Hank I noticed a difference between you and wily when you and him do jobs by your selfs you are very serious about getting that machine running but when you guys are together here comes the joke's you guys are awesome love the show
