You’re not Mills, and it should’ve been obvious what I was referring to in his video. I was literally just giving extra information to explain why the game is the way it is.
Fun fact: even before Battle Royale film and novel, there was "Knights of the Forty Islands" novel by Sergei Lukyanenko, written in Russia, 1992. This is, I believe, the first ever example of the emergence of this genre in culture. It became a bestseller in Russia, selling about half a million copies, but because of *known economic circumstances* it never made it abroad.
I feel like there are two subgenres of extraction games. The extraction looter shooter, ala Tarkov, where you just get in, loot in your own priorities and extract, and the extraction royale ala Hunt, where theres a main objective creating a "final zone of interest" so to speak. It doesn't shrink, but it forces people's interest in it.
And I think Bungie intends to combine BOTH of these for Marathon. The loot being the thing that draws you in, as well as the objective of unlocking more of the map for better loot.
Im happy you put it into words because I always felt this way but never knew how to explain it. You go into a Hunt game and you are pretty much guaranteed pvp because everyone is after the same thing and there’s no real looting. I’ve gone into many Tarkov raids actively avoiding pvp because im just tryin to find an item or something. I cant really decide what type I like more
The extraction loot shooter concept you described can be pretty fun if its not boring but I rather have a movement shooter like Titanfall 2 then a extraction royale like tarkov or modern warfares DMZ
Z1 BR wasn't the first. First was a Arma 2 mod made by Brendan Greene that was actullay involved in Z1 development and his nickname is Player Unknown. So that is important to the history tbh

@@notpot9314 yup, and pretty much the entire reason that the students cant escape the island is a single coin flip he makes when the "game" begins, if that had gone the other way with him being basically super jesus plus the other genius level guy in the class they'd likely have succeeded in the escape plan (there is a sequel to the BR film which takes place after the first where you have it being about taking out the government that runs the whole program rather than taking place as one of the yearly BR matches)
There's 2 mangas( the second isn't that good) AND then there is BR: Angels Border, and is about the girls that got stuck in the Lighthouse, its interesting. Lol
Well you might be right on some levels with extraction shooters. Its a pretty cool concept to work with. But there are some things that really holds it back from being the next big game genre. Most likely 90% of players in shooting games love to be aggressive. Players want to go out and destroy their competition immediately. Thats why battle royals stayed popular for a long time. Its fast pace and matches are short enough for even casuals to hop on the bandwagon.... extraction shooters are somewhat the opposite. Your spending more time finding supplies and avoiding fights till you have what you need. Then if you want a better chance at fighting other players, you'd have to play a couple of matches to get enough supplies to get the loadout you need. So already its not too casual friendly and you have to put in alot of time to get what you want. Now unless someone makes a formula that can help solve that issue. Than yeah it could potentially become the next big thing. Thats just what i think though.
It would require the complete cutting out the Hardcore survival mechanics (looking at tarkov) and probably play like PubG or battle Royals in general, but with less players on the map, But have each individual or teams (mix matching will be a thing) having counter objectives or purposely cross paths with one another which would be forcing conflict or battles (pvp). Think of fortnite's "bounty" system or the Old CoD system of collecting dogtags and put that too the more tags you got the more sound you make with each step. Could be a call of challenge or Death's Whistle (GDit PussNboots...) In the same take it could be a random map sizing, Using fortnite for sake of example: Instead of the whole island to be available with a the shrinking proximity of typical BRs, it would instead be of cut outs of certain areas (if you include some procedural generation to vary up the area a bit apart from permanent/normal structures) so there is familiarity but at the same time it would reduce the chance of people absolutely memorizing the map and just going through it like a ninja-speedrunner without looking. Since the notion of extraction shooter should be just that, not a Get in Get out but a Get in get it done, and die/lose or win/ survive and get out. Again that depends on the objectives given "I want X off [player Y} cause of practical/prsonal/petty [reasons]." Which can also be tantimount to how far either player is on, maybe you'll luck out and no one is sent after you or maybe the best player available is after your tail. But also to keep obvious spineless/lazy camping Extraction point could dynamically shifted, Maybe your customer wants to insure their wears and drop you info. "hey there's a couple guys at that extraction point, moving it to X" good chance the opposition if their objective is to get you or what you got would be informed of a leak...
Hunt Showdown is good about this. It's not the Tarkov thing where you go in just looking for one or two things and trying to avoid other people. Everyone is there for the same thing you are: MONEY. The dollar is king, and everyone wants it. You go in, kill the boss, and try to get out alive. If someone else gets out with the bounty, you've essentially just wasted your time, so it's in your best interest to make sure they don't leave with YOUR money. There's no running around for gear either, the only thing you need is cash, and weapons are unlocked with XP. Just so happens that the best way of getting XP is killing the boss and other players
While it's probably true that this is what keeps it from being massive, for me personally it's what I love about the genre. There is actual depth, progression and strategies. You don't just turn your brain off and mindlessly shoot everything that moves like in all these BR games.
Even in Warzone has an "extraction shooter" called DMZ... In the extractions shooters like Tarkov you could use your mic to comunicate and have endless of possibilities getting a team mate or getting killed in a second, and in DMZ could happen a lot of things... I like the idea of Extraction Shooters because the freedom you have is so vast
For me personally DMZ never really felt like a good game mode. The map, the objectives, the A.E. did not feel right. Also there is literally no in dept mechanics of storaging and buying like it is in Tarkov. I could even call DMZ a alpha or demo version of EFT.
@@SashaTheNunthere’s just too much AI, no real gear at all imo like Tarkov and it just doesn’t give me that dopamine / adrenaline rush. Tarkov can feel like a horror game, at times you can cut the tension with a knife 😂
I can confirm, that those PvPvE extraction-shooters are becoming more and more apparent. Not just through downloads and game releases via Steam, but also through survey game creators and gamers. I've conducted a few surveys (of which I gathered data from over 500 people across 47 different countries), and this genre is certainly in the minds of younger gamers. Tarkov, Dark & Darker, Mauraders, COD Warzone 2, Hunt:Showdown, and The Cycle: Frontier (which has just been disbanded) are all brands I've heard from my surveys. Unfortunately, we know that balancing is quite hard.

Fortnite has already been leaning into some extraction shooter design with incorporating PvE sections into the map. I could see a definitive Fortnite 2 come out that is an ES.
@@jirehjirehjirehjireh fortnite will stay a battle royale, its part of the name. its gonna stay fast paced. however, people are probably gonna make an extraction shooter in uefn, especially when uefn gets better and allows more creativity, a dedicated extraction shooter mode in fortnite is possibility.
Yeah Fortnite is not going anywhere for sure, but I think the market share of of Battle Royale only shooters will be partially contested by Extraction Shooters in the next 5 years. At least that's what we see with future games being developed.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention DMZ. I actually love it but I’m kinda lost on where to start and I just don’t have the time to be playing for hours to complete objectives. Besides, Activisions money maker is CASUAL PLAYERS. Can an extraction shooter really be a casual experience?
I think extraction shooters will target a sweet spot between fast action shooters and more casual MMOS. I think it's possible for a game to blend that line much more than now. I know it's harder to envision because most of the extraction shooters out have been on the hardcore side. Also, we have a generation of gamers growing up from battle royales wanting a deeper experience imo and games on the slightly more hardcore side are more likely to be successful now than before.
Abit sad that Playerunknown's Arma mods where not mentioned as the battle royale gamemode was really really popular in Arma long before BR's where a well known thing
For the PVE aspects of extraction shooters, why don't they take the HL2 route? Combine [Enemy troopers] simply just took cover and turns shooting the player, and had a "randomized" actions, they cooperated with each other. They felt like a coordinated faction of enemies. Even cockroaches had crazy advanced AI, and HL2 released in 2004.
AI in games has regressed since 2004 and it's ridiculous! I think that's because action games have focused more on the multiplayer side of things while single player games are more story driven.
@@Liteg0 Sadly, the time of smart AI in games as a standard, from my point of view, have passed since Crysis 2&3. Some games of course returns it from time to time. One of them, which I agree is interesting point or debatable, is AI from massively underrated and overhated "Quantum Break".
Dark zone in The Division was the first main stream extraction game mode and it was the most stressful experience yet rewarding experience I’ve had in gaming. Another really fun one is Arms race in BL3 and DMZ was pretty fun too. I actually like extraction shooters and I think it will have some success but nowhere near competitive shooters like CSGO or BR games. I’m not a big BR guy I hate how slow it is. For extractions yes they’re slow but those slow times are filled in with looting, and there’s a reason to be slow…you’ll lose the loot for BR you’re slow just to win, there’s no reason to win no new sick lot, no reward or anything.
The first Divisions Dark Zone was one of the best multiplayer experiences ive ever had. I also LOVED their survival mode. I would love an extraction shooter that combines aspects of both of those experiences
1. So many youtubers have covered this, that i already knew this whole videos construct. xD 2.battle royals are still not going anywhere because extractions shooter are barely cutting it, for instance The Cycle frontier has announced that they are shutting down later on this year because simply they did not make finance standards. 3. I believe rpg games and mmo games will take over the industry. we got the riot mmo in the works. WoW is getting an official hardcore mode. elder scrolls 6, and hytale
Battle Royale has been around long before the movie Battle Royale. Infact the author of Battle Royale that the movie is based on, said he was inspired by wrestling. Also Battle royals used to take place before boxing and wrestling matches between 1870 and 1910.
@@MillsFPS that's because the best one is currently being fumbled constantly (Overwatch). I would not be surprised to see a resurgence of hero shooters in the next 5 years
I feel like Cod’s DMZ mode showed us just how advanced the scavs in Tarkov really are. When compared to the rest of the rest of the detail in the game they feel lackluster but compared to every other enemy AI in gaming they are crazy smart
Truth be told, the Extraction shooter gaming genre is actually much older than Battle Royale. Great examples of that is legendary ArmA 3 DayZ mode, which later became it's own game. Also, speaking of H1Z1, can't forget Zombie survival mode(more or less same thing). Maybe Extraction mode was not it's own gamemode, existing just inside Apocalypse Survival mode, the roots are still right then and there. In some way, even GTA 4's now unfortunately killed Multiplayer mode had elements of Extraction mode(which sort of makes it first massive Open world game with PvPvE elements? Correct me, if I'm wrong).
I dont see extraction shooters getting as big as BR. There are tense moments in extraction shooters but for the most part the gameplay is quite slow and I think alot of people like the more fast paced game styles that make apex and call of duty so popular. They extraction shooters just gettting boring quickly
Extraction shooters are also less casual player friendly I remember trying to get into Hunt but because I could only play 1-2 hours top a day, I was getting constantly pitted against players with not only more experience but also far better gear than me
Maybe just make the player in an extraction shooter have some stuff to prepare b4 getting other stuff, like he/she better have a range weapon and a melee weapon prepared at the start of the game b4 getting other weapons and items.
@@ArjunTheRageGuyMaybe kind of like RumbleVerse, a melee BR where you can already start to fight with ur fists, but you also obtain power ups and movement (But make it not as fast as a BR)
i think the main issue is the biggest gripe of the genre: camping extraction points. there is very little incentive to go out at do these things yourself, when you can just wait for the suckers to bring it to you and escape. Hunt kind of eases it with the way objectives are handled but the same problem comes from waiting for someone to finish the bounty and just take it for yourself.
@@bupkis72 yet somehow the problem still stays. For example, ETF had(and I think still has, haven't played it since 2k21) massive problem with too open exit points, whom were constantly used by campers to kill anyone unlucky for trying to leave in that specific exit. There was a time, when there even was list of most popular exits in game, and if non-campers were trying to change it, it would all eventually backlash back to them, because campers would do the same.
Nobody actively camps extracts in Hunt. Sure if you see that bounty team is moving toward one, then youll try to cut them off and stop them but you make it sound like people just spawn in and go straight to extract camping and that its an issue. No one does that. Also, bounty team can see you on dark sight. Not like you can camp extract and catch decent players completely off guard..
I found Epic Games' strategy to be very impressive, not as popular as it once was, but their generosity in addition to making massive changes every season and chapter really shakes things up, but yes extraction games are getting popular, and games like rust do be the trend now
I think some people hate the battle royale genre is because of the genre involving not being able to respawn after every death and really have to go back to the main menu screen b4 going back in the game. The genre is like those hard NES games where u go back to the title screen and the first level after dying a lot, except its on multiplayer and not singleplayer, and different. Maybe if the genre involved lives like in those 2d Mario platformers, it could come back, but idk if that would work or not. Also, the mechanic of that safe zone circle thing decreasing its radius for like few seconds on any spot of the map could be another reason why the genre is hated, cuz can't explore the entire map without having to deal with that safe zone circle shrinking its radius for a few seconds and being outside the circle is just death.
You either loot a lot and died to 2 opposing teams that decided to gang on your team first or drop and die, only one squad can win so the chances of you winning is slim
people are just bored of it, i done played so many and gotten good at lots of Br titles. but i just wanna play something else that will get the homies on.
Fun Fact: PUBG started off as a mod on Arma, the mod had the same name as Player Unknown was the gamertag of the person who created it, and eventually sold the rights
I feel like the genre is going to be more a background thing, I don't ever see it being the front of gaming but I think it will continue to grow and become one of the biggest genres of games. I feel like it will nearly be impossible to reach that burst of popularity that battle royale did. When I play extraction shooters I feel like there can be bit of downtime which is discouraging if die after or extract without any action. After playing battle royales for so long I feel like general online gamers crave the constant action and when it's slow or just pve they're unengaged.
Sovietwomble actually covered the origin of battle royale games. It likely came from DayZ, particularly the PvP servers where zombies/survival were secondary and people mainly gathered equipment to hunt down and fight other players. The popularity of this kind of “gamemode” in DayZ created a strong community behind it and as such upon the release of PUBG the reason it blew up is because DayZ PvP players immediately flooded in to it because there was finally a fully fledged game catering to what they enjoyed.
It originated from the private server Twitch event called Survivor Gamez in 2012, in the DayZ mod for Arma 2. PlayerUnknown was an Arma 2 mod developer who went on to "create" his own game. See my comment for more.
I'm not a big fan of BRs but I love extraction shooters. I really wish we could get one with dinosaur AI, like maybe a Turok return or something. I think it's the perfect genre for it tbh
team deathmatch with enemy ai to command to help out sounds awesome but turok needs to be a arena fps no tactile shooter nonsense in my turok, i think the only way for arena fps multiplayer to come back is to have a singleplayer campaign with multiplayer as a side doom 2016 did this but made the weapons into loadouts for no fucking reason, another way to make them popular is to have no bunnyhopping but make the base movement speed faster arena fps isn't much worse without bunnyhopping but thats just my nonsense rant
I remember playing badlanders before it got banned in my country.Honestly,it's kinda fun.(AS LONG AS A KID SNIPES AND TAKES ALL OUR LOOTS WE TOOK FOR ONE MATCH)
Really looking forward to Bungie's Marathon. Love the look, colors, and cyberpunk-type vibe. Based on Bungie's resume, I know it will be fun. But I haven't played any extraction-type games, so if you are dropped into a map starting with a primary gun and other basic stuff and the goal is to loot areas, kill A.I., complete some small various tasks through the map, and kill other players if you come across them and loot their gear, if you feel satisfied with what you obtained you can extract and keep everything you have. I'm not sure what the progression/leveling up is like? So next time you drop into the map with all the gear you got from your previous match but then get taken out by another player, you lose everything or 90% of what you looted before. Now you have nothing, and you basically start over again. My question is how are you progressing/leveling up if you lose everything you've looted, 50-60% of the time you enter a map? Like I said I never played an extraction shooter game but I just want to understand it. It seems to me, that it would turn off a lot of people playing if almost every time they enter a map and gain a lot of loot but once they get taken out by another player they lose it all and have to start over. That would be frustrating.
PUBG it's first 2 years was so much damn fun man.... Since then BR's have been less and less enjoyable. Even if FN and AL technically made the genre more popular, it was still the downfall imo. I think Extraction shooters have a lot of protentional. But because of the nature of these games, anti cheat is going to be #1. The most obvious thing PC FPS games would benefit from right now is for everyone to have high enough internet speeds to allow for server side client hosting. This way NOBODY can cheat and the feeling that you KNOW nobody is cheating would honestly enhance these the entire loop of extraction shooters. Often you'll have a bad day and be like "a lot of sus but it is what it is" ( despite knowing the amount if cheaters is unreal ). But if you KNEW nobody was cheating, it would feel infinitely better when you die and infinitely better to gear back up and head in.
I agree, I've played Hunt Showdown since the early days of it and it holds a special place in my heart. I never knew it was an Extraction shooter genre though, always just called it a unique Battle Royal.
I remember first watching the hunger games & instantly thinking "this would such a cool video game idea" I was 12 at the time & I got this feeling that this was gonna be a game of some sort in the future because the idea was just too cool to pass up. Lo & behold, When I first heard of a battle royale video game being made it was almost like a fulfilled prophesy for me haha
I genuinely don't think that extraction shooters are going to take off in the way br did and I don't think its going to take the world by storm but maybe I'll be wrong
Nah you're right. The competitiveness is far less in Extraction Shooters compared to Battle Royale that is one reason why it won't be anywhere close to the popularity of BR
I like Arms Race from Borderlands 3, it's kind of like a battle Royale but it's just PvE (which I prefer) and we can extract the loot after beating the boss
I have yet to find an extraction shooter based in WW1 Confused? Lemme make it make sense. Imagine that for your first time trying a game, the entry cutscenes shows that you're a WW1 ace pilot that ends up having his plane shot down. You survive the crash, but now need to take down enemies and grab their weapons and ammo. Other new players have the same cutscene, though the outfits would look marginally different, and the gunfights would be unexpected. Nobody knows that they're on the same team. Beat this first match of yours and you go into the more tarkov-esque part of the game. Similar gunsmith, tons of variety, but still retaining practicality due to the setting. I have yet to see a game pull this off.
as someone whos played pretty much all extraction shooters (tarkov, hunt, cycle, warzone) out of all of them I love hunt the most! I highly recommend. Its a perfect blend of streamlined and high / risk pvp gameplay
I really liked DMZ. I have Hunt but everyone of my friends I get into it they feel it’s too slow. I’m on the fence about it still. Definitely won’t be playing with friends.
Imagine a game where you couldnt tell if another character was an npc or a real person, like if you were to come to a house in the woods and try to loot the house but the owner comes to kill you and its a real person who’s almost playing a different game mode
Don’t forget The Division Survival and Dark Zone modes are extraction shooters, Call of Duty DMZ also. Hyenas (beta), Rainbow Six Extraction (although this one is just PvE) and Hawked (beta).
nah, extraction shooters are just too boring. it needs a little bit something more to make it big like a good BR can. like maybe a really fancy base building, exploration or character building.
BR are fast paced, ES have a slower pace. For most, this is a nice change because it's different. I like ES due to being able to be more passive and not having to sweat my balls off every match.
@@greg-un7bk I get that but it seems quite niche. it's not that different from playing an mmorpg that weirdly enough still has fps mechanics that make it competitive and draws in a competitive crowd
The first form of a battle royal was player unknowns battle grounds as a mod on ARMA 2! Not Minecraft! Player Unknown made the first battle royal and then went onto make PUBG the game
I'm curious how people will adopt extraction shooters. The first problem I can think of is rallying new players, but that's true of most games. How studios address keeping their hardcore players engaged while onboarding new players will be a dilemma to observe.
lol this is funny considering they broke their pervious record of players with its new update. Huge survival lego game, rock band, newer movement and graphics and eventually their version of 2k! i never realy liked fortnite but its going to be the oasis of all games. youll go into fortnite to eventually play 2k, COD, minecraft, and their BR.
The first Battle Royale game ever was created by a dev who helped develop Arma then it transitioned into Dayz with zombies from there they thought it would be a good idea to create Z1 also known as H1Z1. After this everyone else started to copy off the idea wildly gaining it popularity. As for BR it won't ever die just the games that contain the play style. Pubg and fortnite are losing a huge amount. Warzone had a massive following until they ruined it by getting rid of verdansk with way worse maps in MW1 and MW2.. A little history for those who might not know as much as they think 😉. If it wasn't for Arma we wouldn't have BR. Hail the king of Military Sims!
the only problem with these kinda of games is that you spend a really long time playing them. most people have really short attention spans and dont wanna sit for possibly an hour doing something and gaining progress just to die and lose all of it.
Fortnite is actually doing as good as it was in 2019, it's peaking and likely only going to continue rising. Lot's of Cod players are switching to Fortnite no build and it's unlikely battle royales are going anywhere.
I like the concept of extraction games and also Marathon isn’t a new IP by Bungie as they made a Marathon game before Halo which was in a similar style to the old school Doom
i used to only play single player story campaigns but then i played DMZ when it first came out and i have now sunk in close to a thousand hours in that game

Marathon is not a new ip from bungie, its a totall reboot of their classic Marathon games from the 90s, its just the new Marathon is drastically different
In Asia where shooters are played with 4 fingers on phone, people don't really like the "Hard Core-ness" of extraction shooter games. It takes a lot patience and thinking to push an angle and eliminate an enemy in extraction shooters. While on the other hand Arcade shooters rewards fast paced gameplay, and you can quit at any point and not feel bad.
Dark and darker is a new take on extraction shooters, it's had a few playtests and while the game doesn't exactly LOOK very exciting, it is hands down the funnest game I've played in over 10 years and I've played pretty much every single battle royale amd extraction shooter ever since pubg arma2 mod and h1z1.
I would like to correct you on Wednesday evening I played a total of 392 matches in fortnite I quit and have never played since that was a year after its release
I completely agree. The essence of BR was exciting because u wanted to win, u wanted to be the last one standing. But since every BR now is full of sweats, extraction shooters appeal to more people now. They’re slower and more tactical. U have to think to ensure that u don’t die and lose ur loot. I find it quite exciting trying to get better loot. Extraction shooters just need to be executed right. They don’t want to be boring, but they don’t want to rely on getting all the kills.

Could be a call of challenge or Death's Whistle (GDit PussNboots...)
In the same take it could be a random map sizing, Using fortnite for sake of example: Instead of the whole island to be available with a the shrinking proximity of typical BRs, it would instead be of cut outs of certain areas (if you include some procedural generation to vary up the area a bit apart from permanent/normal structures) so there is familiarity but at the same time it would reduce the chance of people absolutely memorizing the map and just going through it like a ninja-speedrunner without looking.
Exactly what I was thinking, guess we’ll have to wait and see, these are the current extraction shooters
Just so happens that the best way of getting XP is killing the boss and other players
starsiege deadzone has the formula
@@i_am__majestx7746 well... You are kinda right DMZ needs something to have gear fear, but i like the combat in there
@@SashaTheNun true that. Also, it's on very good base. Modern Warfare engine and shooting mechanics might be the best ones I've seen in many years
@@i_am__majestx7746 if they polish the game, could be almost as as popular as Warzone

Unfortunately, we know that balancing is quite hard.

i disagree to an extent, fortnite is a behemoth. it will not be taken down or replaced anytime soon. i do definitely see a potential for extraction shooters though. if done right one of these games can definitely rise up in extreme popularity. however, big games are here to stay, that includes fortnite and call of duty. i dont think there will be any replacing for them anytime soon. but i might be wrong ofcourse, but who knows, time will tell
@@devoted2hazelI mean I definitely don't see why they replace battle royale with extraction when they could literally just add both
Yeah Fortnite is not going anywhere for sure, but I think the market share of of Battle Royale only shooters will be partially contested by Extraction Shooters in the next 5 years. At least that's what we see with future games being developed.
What sets fortnite apart is it's not just a BR, safe the world, Then all of the created game modes
Yh I used to play The Cycle blazed out my mind chilling same with DMZ
on The cycle you can get out pretty much every time if you just fly to the finish, it gets complicated if you jump off n fight
I miss when the division was good
The first Divisions Dark Zone was one of the best multiplayer experiences ive ever had. I also LOVED their survival mode. I would love an extraction shooter that combines aspects of both of those experiences
Dark Zone will forever be the best extraction gamemode ❤ miss the days of Div 1
It’s criminal to talk about extraction shooters without talking about hunt showdown 💯🙏🏽
1. So many youtubers have covered this, that i already knew this whole videos construct. xD
2.battle royals are still not going anywhere because extractions shooter are barely cutting it, for instance The Cycle frontier has announced that they are shutting down later on this year because simply they did not make finance standards.
3. I believe rpg games and mmo games will take over the industry. we got the riot mmo in the works. WoW is getting an official hardcore mode. elder scrolls 6, and hytale
Vigor is an example. i think it would blow up if it was more polished.
There is a game called “ Vigor “ that is free to play , extraction game. alittle base building for slight progression

Battle Royale has been around long before the movie Battle Royale.
Infact the author of Battle Royale that the movie is based on, said he was inspired by wrestling.
Also Battle royals used to take place before boxing and wrestling matches between 1870 and 1910.
And then Fortnite OG hits an all time player count of 44.7 million players in 1 weekend
I prefer hero based shooters to battle royals I think they are miles better.

I was surprised you didn’t mention CoD DMZ as a extraction shooter
Extraction shooters are also less casual player friendly
I remember trying to get into Hunt but because I could only play 1-2 hours top a day, I was getting constantly pitted against players with not only more experience but also far better gear than me
I think you can design a fast paced extraction shooter easily
Maybe just make the player in an extraction shooter have some stuff to prepare b4 getting other stuff, like he/she better have a range weapon and a melee weapon prepared at the start of the game b4 getting other weapons and items.
@@ArjunTheRageGuyMaybe kind of like RumbleVerse, a melee BR where you can already start to fight with ur fists, but you also obtain power ups and movement (But make it not as fast as a BR)
@@ElBrumosack ok that would do
i think the main issue is the biggest gripe of the genre: camping extraction points. there is very little incentive to go out at do these things yourself, when you can just wait for the suckers to bring it to you and escape.
I found Epic Games' strategy to be very impressive, not as popular as it once was, but their generosity in addition to making massive changes every season and chapter really shakes things up, but yes extraction games are getting popular, and games like rust do be the trend now
Bro said Fortnite was falling away and it just hit its highest player count ever 😂

Great video for such a small channel, keep up the good work
I think some people hate the battle royale genre is because of the genre involving not being able to respawn after every death and really have to go back to the main menu screen b4 going back in the game.
I hate the genre because it’s all luck based, someone lands on a better weapon and you instantly have less of a chance of winning that fight
You either loot a lot and died to 2 opposing teams that decided to gang on your team first or drop and die, only one squad can win so the chances of you winning is slim
Yea that's why resurgence in warzone did so well
people are just bored of it, i done played so many and gotten good at lots of Br titles. but i just wanna play something else that will get the homies on.
Great video my dude! Remember to check those automated captions tho i had no idea batlle royale could be spelled as battery hours
It started from hunger games come on

I still agree with this comment

I have yet to find an extraction shooter based in WW1
Confused? Lemme make it make sense.
Imagine that for your first time trying a game, the entry cutscenes shows that you're a WW1 ace pilot that ends up having his plane shot down. You survive the crash, but now need to take down enemies and grab their weapons and ammo. Other new players have the same cutscene, though the outfits would look marginally different, and the gunfights would be unexpected. Nobody knows that they're on the same team.
Beat this first match of yours and you go into the more tarkov-esque part of the game. Similar gunsmith, tons of variety, but still retaining practicality due to the setting.
I have yet to see a game pull this off.

nah, extraction shooters are just too boring. it needs a little bit something more to make it big like a good BR can. like maybe a really fancy base building, exploration or character building.

In Asia where shooters are played with 4 fingers on phone, people don't really like the "Hard Core-ness" of extraction shooter games.
