- Our own Megan Townsend talked to Wynonna Earp stars Kat Barrell and Dominique Provost-Chalkley about the campaign to save the show, found family, the impact of Nicole and Waverly on them as queer actors playing queer characters, building their dynamic together as actors, and the midseason finale.

i understand completely. although i am old enough their grandfather i feel deeply connected to them. i've seen many actors/actresses come and go but i've never been affected by any like these two. they love what they are doing and sharing with their fans. it's an openness you don't really see that often. i also like the idea both of them are so willing to give their own personal time to support and raise money for the charities they care about. dom even started Start the Wave which is a great foundation. if for some reason you haven't seen it, check it out.
if this weren't a virtual interview, i know for sure that dom and kat would be holding hands 😍 and hugging 😍 and doing all of that clingy stuff that we all love to see😍

For 24 minutes, I didn't realize I was smiling the whole time! Gosh, I can listen to them for hours! Such amazing duo and characters they play. Kat's wisdom and profound knowledge for those who sort of hang to the characters they play as our outlet is admirable. Its rare to see actors with that kind of understanding. Her brain and heart makes me fall in love with her.
Dom's genuineness and openess makes me want to hug her tight and tell her, "welcome home",Dommie.
They are both so intelligent, articulate, genuine, and lovely. They impress me every time

The only problem of this interview, is that it ends! I could spend like my whole life just watching them talking about wynonna earp or life in general!

Wow their understanding of there characters is astounding. They have such a grasp of the women that they are portraying. I guess when you’ve been playing the same character for so long you kind of have too. Man, much praise to these two for the care that they put into playing their characters.
And they really embrace their characters which most actors dont. Them really understanding their characters and their audience shows the genuiness of their hearts, reason why it is easy to love them
I think for that reason is so so especial wayhaught
Maybe it's also because of interviews like this and the conventions they are force to evaluate what they're character are all about.

These two actresses were born to play these characters. Waverly and Nicole’s characters couldn’t have been portrayed any better. They grew these characters and they grew from these characters and they’re just beautiful people. They seem so genuine and so sincere and so thankful. They are the kind of people this world really needs right now.

The interviewer is great at giving them space to finish their thoughts and talk to each other, but still commenting and guiding.

She’s free! What surprises me is Kat admitting that she also came into her sexuality being on Wynonna. I’ve never heard her admit that.
@@odessacee5664 She had already sort of came out to us but in a uncomfy situation bc people were shipping domkat romantically and being disrespectful to her marriage so she had to say something like "I like women and men but I'm in love with a man rn and it saddens me that some people are hating on it" and low-key stopped mentioning her sexuality directly. I'm glad she they are more confident and open about it.
ingrydmichell-e Thanks for sharing! I had no idea. I did see people hating on her marriage. I was surprised since Earpers are supportive no matter what. She married whom she loves. I see nothing wrong with that at all. It’s how it’s supposed to be.

I so agree with Kat's comment on the progression of this relationship! Everything happened at just the right time and I have cheered these two along through it all. The writers and directors have done a superb job with this show.

The thing I most love about them is that they care so much for the characters, that they actually watch the show. I see many actors that only do the acting part but hate to actually watch themselves acting. I don’t know, for me, it’s so nice that they watch it and get happy with the characters journey and growth.

Such an amazing interview with both of them! Kat and Dom both discussing how Wynonna Earp hasn't just impacted the community, but it has allowed them to acknowledge or learn more about themselves is so beautiful. And Dom's statement about how it was like a mirror with the Earpers... Just when I thought I couldn't love them more. They are truly awesome people and we are incredibly lucky to have them portraying such great characters. They really put so much thought and feeling behind their acting!
The way they talk about their characters and wayhaught, god is so pure and lovely and it really makes me so so happy to see them finally free and out without feeling ashamed 🥺❤️ i hope they know how important their happiness is for us, and they deserve it
I honestly thought my air pod pro was broken. I literally re connected the Bluetooth , re set the headphone, re booted my phone, and watched a RUclips video on how to fix the headphones. Just to click on said RUclips video and starting hear in both ears😂😂. So long story short, my left ear is really enjoying this interview lol.

I was a little late to watch this wayhaught journey that they are talking about.. I started watching wynnona Earp this year as I started it in quarantine and had this show on my watchlist since a long time.. and seriously their journey is amazing.. I love how Earpers came together and supported this show.. I'm glad I found wayhaught and wynnona Earp I have never seen an actor so close to their characters.. it's so amazing that they connected with their characters so much that they understood their own sexuality through wayhaught journey.. and Dom is so precious and I love the way they support each other.. I'm a proud Earper now.. can't wait season 4 part 2..

Me too. It was on my watchlist for sometime given it's comparisons to Buffy. I just binged it about a month ago and am thinking - What the HELL took me so long? I do remember all the hoopla about SaveWynona and heard about WayHaught, but I was discouraged at first and thought it would be like the typical toxic, sad ending. Boy was I surprised! I love how thoughtful their storyline is written and how beautifully it's portrayed by the 2 actresses. They are truly the best (iconic) representation on screen right now.

Such a nice interview. Both really open and comfortable in their skin and authentic. So nice to see how much they've grown since the first panels and since season 1. It shows in their personalities and even in their characters. It makes me so happy to see such incredible development and how well they've integrated their own experiences into their characters. They're incedible human beings and so inspiring.
Hearing dom talk about his sexuality excites me too much
I could listen to them both talk for hours. Love hearing them discuss the show and how its affected them. It's funny, I found the show at a time in my life where I was going through a huge change of environment and it really helped me to find this new different show to distract me from where my mind was at the time. Wondering if I had made the right choice and if things were gonna work out. And the show was such a gift to me. I don't think I've had a show have such an impact on me personally (let alone remembering when I found a show) and I think it has alot to do with this cast and the Fandom around this show. I had never heard of a Fandom or conventions for a single show and it was amazing to me that a show had such a following. But also not surprising because of the magic that is this show and cast.
I remember watching the first season and thinking this show is so different and dope and thinking Melanie Scrofano was so bad ass and her character was bad ass. And then that wayhaught scene... I was like I've never seen anything shot like this before it was so beautifully done with all of the promise and alluding to something so much more between them and it's truly been such a pleasure to watch. This show has really opened my mind up to so many things about myself and I've learned so much about myself and others, not only from the cast but the Fandom as well, and I will cherish this show and cast for that.

It's funny how I tend to go more to Nicole in the show and irl all of my attention (and crush) goes to Dom lol. I think it just shows how much of a good understanding they have of the characters and how well they portrait them. It's amazing to even see they talking about it. Thanks for this interview 😊

I love how the interviewer just sets the question and let them talk and connect... the whole interview became mostly a conversation between them and it's on sight how much they care about each other.... yep, they have the kind of relationship that usually only occurs when 2 people face life threatening situations together. it's a bond that can go deeper than even that between family members. it's like they are 2 halves of the same person. i am so happy for them.

I really identify with Dom when it comes to shame. I didn't grow up in a religious household or anything like that but it was always understood that girls liking girls and boys liking boys wasn't right. So I just pushed it down and told myself it was dirty until I couldn't deny it anymore. I don't know if I could've come out as a teen (I'm leaning toward no) and it's scary to think of what could've happened if had come out.
