    To me it will always be the Guardian who pulled the trigger. Narratively it makes sense, it was us who hunted him down, it was us who helped and guided Crow upon resurrection, it. was us who helped him reconcile his two natures, identities. Remove that and give the kill to Petra, like... it doesn't ruin it, and it's understandable if she did it, but it does remove something poetic about that entire arc. So... We shot Uldren IMO.

    • @TheChannelTatum
      @TheChannelTatum 7 месяцев назад

      I almost agree. I am of the opinion we actually didn't. I feel like Cayde would have actually NOT shot Uldren. He chose to initially try and let the scorn prisoners go back to their cages, and he's a huge talker. I feel like Petra was quite wrought and that's why she certainly shot him. I also think this possible ending would be just as if not more poetic, simply because we are supposed to be the good guys. We hunted down someone mercilessly just in the end to realise that killing him may not be the right thing to do.

    I think it's important to note Crow's reaction to us after Savathûn gave him his memories as Uldren back in Season of the Lost. He apologizes and says, "You did what you had to do."
    So, despite all these clues pointing towards Petra being the canon killer, there are other clues that support both Petra and the Guardian being Uldren's executioners.

    I personally believe that Bungie let it be ambiguous so that it can fill whatever allignment your guardian was at the time. If you think of your gaurdian as a paladin of good and righteousness, then it was Petra, and you dont have to have that imersion breaking choice made for you. To me my guardian use to be like that, but over time has slowly lost his faith in the traveler and serves neither the darkness or light. In my headcannon my guardian shot uldren because he was on the precipice between light and dark.

    I generally think it was both of us. If you look closely, our Guardian hesitated for moment when Uldren asked whether it's the Light or Dark side we're on, but points the Ace back at him, showing a murmur of Darkness that was showing in our Guardian. I don't think our Guardian would aim the Ace back at him if they weren't sure about going through with their vengeance.

      It's not about whether it was for the light or darkness. those two elements don't matter. The light and darkness dont care whether you are good or evil. People use it for their own reasons. using the light for their own malicious reasons, using the darkness for the sake of delivering justice.

  • @devonhickman3428
    @devonhickman3428 8 месяцев назад +31

    Personally and Narratively it makes sense for us to shoot uldren, we are this middle line between light and dark. We are always just Dark enough to wield the Darkness and enact it's multifaceted nuances like hive magic or sword logic but we are also blessed by the Light to such a degree that our moral standing doesn't collapse once we step into a more controlling atmosphere. Sounds and effects aside there are a lot of lore pieces and dialogue that eludes to us both shooting him. Plus season of the haunted clearly in its last cutscenes points to uldren being our nightmare along side Crow seeing as Crow comes to terms with his past but it's us who are face to face with uldren unheard words traded between us as we accept and forgive uldren allowing him to leave witn the others.

  • @Dragolee4
    @Dragolee4 8 месяцев назад +1

    No matter what I say to my friends, I can never get this through to them. I always thought it was obvious that it was petra who shot uldren, heres why: 1) the gunshot that sounded after the fade to black was the Sound of petra's side arm, Vestian Dynasty, Not the ace of spades. I know people think there are two different guns sounds in the cut scene, I only hear one. no matter how many times I listen to it, I only hear vestian. 2) at the end of forsaken when you talk to petra, she gives you her side arm, and she says "its the Weapon that... well. you know nothing left to say about that." practically saying that it was the gun that was used to shoot uldren.
    Now I realize its possible that the guardian could have taken her gun and done it, but it doesn't make sense for her to give it back to us in the way she does, her attitude gives the feeling that she did it and didn't want to look it it anymore.
    I guess this is just my personal opinion, but its what makes the most sense to me given the evidence.

    the dialogue always implies that Petra did it and when you go back to the campaign you clearly hear the sidearm shoot, not the ace. I find this a bit sad, since it would have been amazing for us to be the killer, yet we have to care for him now.
    Maybe Ace was to damaged to shoot anymore/out of ammo, so we tried to shoot, yet couldn't and Petra had to
    how am I coming tot he conclusion that it wasn't ace? The first shot fired by Uldren. The Ace has a certain cling to it, very distinct and we have been shown exactly that before when Cayde died

    I think it might still be both, this season Crow says that Petra already shot him, well she technically did shot at him when he was at the shard of the traveler, she just missed, there might have also been moments where the two exchanged gunfire before like before he was captured and placed in the prison of elders. I don’t imagine he got imprisoned without a fight. I also think back to season of the lost where crow first got his memories back. The first couple of words he says to us feel so antagonistic, (“and you… you…!”) like for a brief moment uldren come back and all the emotions and reactions towards us, his killers, and our actions did as well. I believe who actually killed him is still ambiguous.

    I think Bungie did a great job in Forsaken leaving the cutscene open for everyone‘s personal interpretation. For me, it has always been me, my guardian, who pulled the trigger. I was emotionally very invested in the story of the campaign and I started despising Uldren, since he killed one of my favorite NPCs and my guardian‘s highly respected vanguard. I wanted revenge, I wanted it to be bloody, I wanted him dead. And I feel it‘s quite charming to think that my guardian rekindled with Crow, reflecting on what she did in the past and how she would overcome her prejudices towards Uldren‘s face, acknowledging that it‘s now a totally different person in front of her that has become a deeply warm-hearted friend to her. It‘s a great twist of fate and a very cool story of self reflection and emotional development, if not emotional and mental evolvement.

    If it wasn't for that line, I would be on board with the Petra theory, but it feels like Bungie trying to make Petra more of a Girl Boss than she already is. Hell, she had more restraint to the thought of doing it in her voice, probably thinking of how Mara would scold Petra for killing her brother. Idk, man. You have something with the audio clips of the gunfire, but I think they shot him at the same time, if anything.

      his redemption as Crow doesn't hit as hard if we weren't the ones who ended him at his absolute lowest point, plus it's the beginning of our character getting morally darker and eventually wielding darkness.

    Crow had his memories of Uldren and straight up says to Petra. "you already shot me once"
    Case closed. If the gunshot sound in the original cutscene wasnt proof enough

    I always find myself confused as to why so many people ask this question. I personally think both the guardian and Petra fired at the same time, why else would the guardian raise the gun back up after hesitation? You can even hear the sound if Pertas sidearm and loud echo of Ace od Spades atleast thats what I heard when I first watch the cutscene. Now if bungie added choices to the story, like small ones similar to the Drifter alliance one, then i can see us getting the choices to either shoot or not and of course Petra would shoot either way but it would some dialog later depending on what you pick.

    I mean if you listen to the shot it wasn't the ace of spades so that should be the indicator right there.

    Objectively it was Petra who killed Uldren.
    Evidence:
    In the scene when’re Uldren steals a shard of the Traveler he EMPTIES he Ace of spades to dislodge it from the shard. We never see him reload therefore he never did. It’s reasonable to assume this cuz Uldren was in a deluded state. Even when he attempted to draw on the chimera in the final cutscene it was probably empty

    Throughout the Campain they gave special attention to the sound that the Ace of Spades makes when firing. The sound is a special pop-clink sound and they constantly reinforce it throughout the campain
    Petra’s gun (Vestian Dynasty) makes a flat gunshot sound it doesn’t even make a “pop” sound just this basic sidearm shot sound.
    My head cannon here is that although the Guardian was going to kill Uldren with Petra. Our Guardian pulled the trigger but nothing came out, but Petra’s shot did killing Uldren.

    Pretty sure it was both the audio of vestian dynasty is very clear and the deep bang was ace there is no way a sidearm would make that delayed bang.

    It's not a mystery the audio in forsaken is very clearly both guns mixed as if firing at the same time the original intent was to let players choose what they wanted to believe whether they were the killer uldren was or not

    Both guardian and petra shot Uldren. Both the vestian sidearm and ace of spaces can be hear simultaneously in the audio. Its not much of a debate unless its being retconed - at that points its on bungie to fix their mistakes.

    Unless Riven has something to do with it, a final 'twist' in the tale so to speak, what does it matter WHO killed Uldren Sov? All that matters is that Crow has moved beyond that now. It remains to be seen how this all plays out.

    Not really a mystery, If you go back and watch the scene where uldren is shot. He is shot with an energy weapon. That was petra's sidearm.

    Should have just given the player the choice as to whether or not to kill Uldren. If the player chooses yes, they kill him. If no, Petra kills him. The cutting to black was annoying to me. Give the players the choice.

  • @OZefiroMusica

    To me, it was always Petra because of the gunshot SFX. The absence of the characteristic metallic "clang" of the Ace of Spades justifies it. But I would love to have had a prompt to pull the trigger myself. Uldren was always a little piece of sh*t. I like Crow, though.
