I'm going to assume you have already adjusted the trim on the motor so like others have said you obviously need to move your weight forward so it will plane and you'll get a whole lot more speed.
Pretty cool. If u sit towards the front, you can still use the AP motor without coming up.. You were sitting all the way in the back plus the weight of the rear motor.. Plus the rear motor needs to be higher so it won't get water in it. But, ideally, I want Old Town to come up with a stronger motor that goes 6mph top speed. That would be excellent and just enough to get to far spots and goes faster during a big current or big waters with waves like escaping from a incoming storm 😁 I have the AP 120 and top speed is at 4.2mph.. Needs more for sure..
Same setup on my frontier 12. 5-6mph, still have more throttle left. The problem is they are not planning hulls. Once the bow raised too high, I am worrying about tracking. Better to move your weight forward when going fast. I have 360 seat, could turn around, start, shift forward, then turn back and drive with long extension.

Aliex, one of my fav vids Epic! I think a heavy duty mount, the 2.5 Suzuki, is no problem. And with you in the seat, it'll lower the bow down. I love my 120, my fin drive, and my J2 Bixpy. But I'm going with a NK 180 or NK 300 this season. I can walk all over my boat. I'm 5ft 7" 155. It's a one man boat. I love how you do the same. The hull is so strong on that Oldtown. I still think it's the best boat out there. Especially all the different add-ons you show us. But a kayak, I think the 120's about 37" wide are perfect. Awesome stuff bro! 🌊 🎣 🌴
I had another easier idea. Instead of booking steering leakage lock the gas motor so it’s straight. Then run a piece of pvc from the throttle forward to the seat. Use for peddles and boat rudder to steer. Work?

there is a reason why i havent dont a "how to video on this yet" i havent it done in a way that i feel it is bullet proof, i wanna build a base that covers the rear and then add the transom mount on it. but i havent gotten the time to do so lol

Yea, I got trapped in a strong current delaware water gap. Towed back by a gas motor Jon boat. Definitely need a stronger motor 😂
Use a longer tiller extension arm. Also, how about a video on how you installed the mount, what mount you used etc.?

Alex, does this just bolt on to the old town power pole holes? Or did you have to add new screw holes.

Why in world would I want a Jon boat ?? You can't add an ipilot unit easily, it is a pain to launch and looks awful, come on
As soon as Hobie and MotorGuide team up and make a GPS motor w/ Spotlock that drops into the Hobie drive well the AP120 is done.
Why would it be done? Old Town also has 2 other motor kayaks. AP135 and the 106 powered by Minn Kota.
My main issue with kayak fishing is how slow from one spot to another.
