I want to show this video to people in the 1960's with room-sized computers costing hundreds of thousands of dollars and being nowhere near as fast.
In the 1960's I had a cardboard computer that used to be advertised on the back cover of science fiction magazines. It used wires and paper clips to act as switches and little light bulbs to show the game moves. All I could do in those days was to get it to play tic tac toe. It would be fun to go back in time and show myself something like that.

I would think that having computers ON a computer lab or ON a library, would be equally odd. Do you need a ladder to get up there, or do they have lifts? I'd think having them IN a school, lab or library would be far more beneficial, and would save them from the elements too. I would imagine when it rains, they get pretty wet, and that's not very OH&S compliant....

This is me on eBay these days, thanks to their stupid "global shipping program" more and more lazy people use. Almost anything not located in my country (Australia) has like $30-50 shipping cost, even if the item is $5! I know international shipping from the US is more expensive than it used to be, but those few who do ship themselves and not through eBay charge a *lot* less for actual costs.

Okay surely this video has to be a joke. This is not at all what the Raspberry Pi was designed for. Those pins on the top are the most important part yet you skip over it like nothing. The pins allow for different modules to be attached, such as temperature, moisture, camera, touch screen, motion sensors etc and can be programmed to do tasks such as water plants when the moisture sensor reaches a certain threshold, alert your phone if there is motion somewhere, and capture live video. There's a reason why developers jumped on this so fast and it sold out. This video just ridiculed the pi's purpose.
Tbh, I found Austin Evans to be unreliable in quite a few things. And the voice he uses when he explains stuff is... annoying for me.
It wasn't a in depth break down video tho.... If people actually get some sort of interest they could just keep doing research and find other reviews on it. That simple.

I wish I had bought a few Pi's back in the day. I didn't know what to do with them, but they were cheap. Now, I actually just rebuilt an old laptop, replaced the internal and external battery, upgraded the RAM, changed the fan, and replaced the spinning disk with a SSD, because it was cheaper than a Raspberry Pi.

That version of Minecraft is optimized for the Pi. RUclips doesn't work well because it is anything but optimized. I'm not positive about the Zero (or Zero W), but my Pi 3 runs RUclips perfectly if I use it through optimized players like omxplayer and Kodi. The Pi 3 has a dedicated GPU that can even run 3D stuff well (for the cost obviously) and RUclips videos run perfectly when using the GPU. Sadly, Chromium (open-source version of Chrome) and other web browsers don't currently work with the special GPU.
I'm pretty sure there is no hardware acceleration for videos (in browser), so it's being decoded on poor CPU while Minecraft obviously uses GPU to render.

The issue i have with this video is that Austin is treating it like a mini desktop computer for Minecraft and stuff like that, but its actually for stuff like drones, robots, remote control, hell even huge computer corporations are using pi computers as nodes in their server banks. The only reason Minecraft is on there is mainly for stress testing systems. Its an engineering tool not a toy, it just feels like this video insulted what the computer is capable of and just advertised it as any other cheap toy computer.
Actually one of the Pi's main purposes is to teach kids electronics and programming

I have the raspberry pi 4 (im using it to watch this video haha) and from my first impressions, i would recommend it. it can watch you tube, play games (mostly retro 8bit games, anyway.) Still, for how cheap this newer model is, i would recommend it as a backup desktop or first pc/ school or work pc.
Austin the pi isn't made to be used as a computer. those holes are where the GPIO pins go. You can connect all kind of things there - buttons, LEDs, motors etc. and control them using python built in. For example you could use the pi to build a quadcopter. or something which I did is to control lighting with ultrasonic sensors. If u have heard if an arduino it is similar to this
VCubing X not the pi zeros... the main $35 raspberry pis though are designed for that to some extent, but its meant more for lightweight web browsing and programming, and using the minecraft pi edition to program with python... other than that, its beyond its hardware and purpose

Well, the official guide says 5.1V is recommended and it may become unstable below 4.8V. So I hope he was referring to that. If someone thinks, "Oh at least 5V, let's feed it with 12V to be on the safe side." it would be unfortunate though. I spotted a coil on my Pi zero W, so I suspect it uses a switching type voltage regulator. Sadly I didn't find any pi zero w specific specs on the input voltage range. It should be more efficient when undervolted, than the linear regulated ones, which I read about in the pi forums.

Only buy this for retropie. It's really great as an emulation station it plays nes, snes, genesis, game boy, gameboy color, game boy advance and game gear/master system really good and it's great if you want a dedicated machine for emulation instead of using your pc. Also you can use it for things like streaming boxes and stuff which is useful but if your getting one just for streaming you may aswell just get a Roku or something like that instead. If your getting this for Linux you may aswell just get an old laptop or pc on eBay and load it with Linux trust me it'll be just as fast if not a lot faster than Linux on the pi zero w.

The info was wrong folks dont use just any micro usb but get one with at least 2a for pi0. Anything less you can corrupt the sd card. And many phone chargers are just that for charging for a stable 5v 2a you need a power supply.

The Raspberry Pi Zero is mainly made for automation and to regular household devices into smart devices, which is why it has very little memory and CPU capacity - It is designed to run simple tasks every once in a while... If you want to use it as a computer you should get the more powerful versions of the Pi.
Agreed. I got one running weather station software and a lightweight web server (static driven pages) for the weather data. It does that task just fine.

Eh, I'd still pay the extra 30 dollars for something with 4 cores and 1gb of ram. (Also, that version of Minecraft has been depricated since 2014)

The RPI does have hardware accelerated video... but it doesn't appear to function with RUclips on Chromium, or standard VLC... but there is an optimized variant of VLC that can utilize hardware acceleration and play full-HD videos just fine.

Origonal Hexatendo I would recommend to buy the Pi 3 over the Zero as it is Way more powerful (Still cheap ish at £35 ish ) and you don't need any dongles like the Microusb to USB (Pi 3 has 4 USB) or Micro HDMI to HDMI (Pi 3 has Full HDMI) etc. And if you want to save some money , you can get the Pi 2 but that doesn't have the Wifi or Bluetooth
