Move the vertical match of the ‘+’ to the top bit of the Right side of the 5. You have then turned the ‘+’ sign into a ‘-‘ sign and the 5 into a 9. The sum would then read “9-7=2”.
Take 1 match from the + to change it into a -, and place that match on 5, to create a 9. Result: 9 - 7 = 2. Anyone else that got 1 + 5 = 6, look closer, it's not a true 6, instead you got 1 + 5 = ∂, a reverse 6.
No that's not right because you would have to move to matchsticks to make that equation that you're saying right. You'd have to move one to the five to make it a nine and then you would have to take the plus and make it a minus that's moving too much sticks. He's incorrect, the best way to do it is 5 - 7 equals to because you only have to move one matchstick. With yours you would have to move more than one
There are at least two solutions to this problem. It looks like everyone has figured out that taking the match off the plus sign making it a minus sign and adding it to the 5 to make it a 9 is one solution. There is an easier one, though. Take that same match off the plus sign making it a minus sign and lay it across the equal sign making is a not equal sign.
It also works: 5 - 7 = -2 - just move the match from + and lay it horizontal next to the 2. It's just smashed close together so you don't see that as an obvious resolution.
@sue4940 No, that's one move. For example: In Jenga, you pull a piece and then put it on top. Therefore, I grabbed a match and put it where it made the true statement. If you disagree, then tell me which match you would pick up only (and not put down back into the equation in a different spot, as in completely removed all together) that would make the equation true.

Another solution: 5 - 7 does not equal 2. My keypad offers no symbol for "does not equal." Commonly it is an equal sign with a slanted lin through it from top right to lower bottom. That is a correct solution, although the 9 -7 = 2 is probably the solution sought.

Move 1 match from 7 to get one. Then place the match on number 2 at the bottom left of two to get 6. We got 1+5 = 6. He said “move one match to make the equation correct and did not specify the result of two.
@@vickibennett106 good point. Hmm what about taking the vertical line from the plus sign and putting it horizontally infront of the 2? Then the equation 5-7=-2.
There are five ways (and one more i found after writing this) to make the equation true. First, move the stick from the + sign to the five to make it a 9 and thus 9-7=2. Second, move the same stick again and make a negative sign in front of the two, so you have 5-7=-2. Third, move one of the sticks from the equal sign and make it into a "greater than" symbol. So it would be 5+7>2. The fourth way is to take a stick from the plus sign and use it as a slash across the equal sign. So 5-7≠2. Fifth is to take the top match from the seven and move it to the 2 to make it a 6. So 5+1=7 Edit. Just found a 6th one. Take the bottom match from the seven, still leaving a smaller seven intact. Move that stick in front of the 2. So you have 5+7=12
First way: Right way to do it. 10\10 Second way: Although correct, there is no enough room to place negative sign in front of two. 6/10 Third way: Nah, you would have to move both matches to form > since both lines are slanted. 4/10 Fourth way: It's correct, I'll allow it. 9/10 Fifth way: You can't make 6 out of 2. 6 out of 5 - yes, 9 out of 5 - yes, 6 out of 2 - nope. 1/10 Sixth way: Your 7 and 1 are superscripts now. I don't like it. 2/10

It's 5 +1=6
Or 5-7=-2, but if they put the minus there won't be space
Take the vertical match from the + and add it to the 2 to make "5 - 7 = -2"
u have to move other matches to put in the negative sign, incorrect
I was thinking 5-7≠2
@@leealex3692 how? just put it infront of the 2

@@AkaObbies no enough space
As an alternative, just angle the top "equal" match to make it a "greater than" symbol. 5+7>2. Done.
That’s what I would’ve done too
I thought of that but is that considered an equation or a statement? 5+7 adds up to 12 which is greater than 2. A true statement! However, does it qualify as an equation written this way 5+7>2?
That's what I thought too
5 +7=2 5 + 1 =6😅
5 - 7 (not equa)l to 2
take one match from the plus sign (match that is in lengthwise) position) and lengthwise place to equal sign to make it a not equal sign.

You can't write 6 though.
That leaves a backwards six

You can't even make a 6
@@keendietrich9715 yes there is you can literally make the 5 a 9 by taking one of the matches from the + sign to make 9-7 which is equal to 2 lmfao 😆 unless 9-7 doesn't equal 2 anymore lol but it does either way all I said is you can't make a 6 so why tf am I tagged in your comment specifically when I'm literally not the only person who commented that I don't need to go down anything I'm just not stupid.
Well show us
Guys, so many people are saying 5-7=2, but actually, 5-7=-2. (Negative 2) Remove the one match from the + sign and make the 2 -2.
You got it 5 - 7 =2. If you had to use that in an equation it would be 5 + -7 equals 2 but to make this work it has to be done this way. It's still legit and kudos for figuring it out.
Thanks exactly the change that I worked out!!
Where would you put it? There's no space for a minus sign
@@roelherberghs1956That’s what I’m thinking. She would have to then move more toothpicks or matches over to the side. Just make the first number a 9.

Sure you can. Not when working with whole numbers, but in algebraic equations, subtracting a larger number from a smaller number gives you a negative number, hence the reason I said 5 - 7 = -2.
9-7=2
9-7=2

Take 1 stick from the plus, making it a minus and placing it on the 5 making it a 9.

Yesss
How you write #6 reverse?
that would be a backwards 6
So 5+1=7
Edit. Just found a 6th one. Take the bottom match from the seven, still leaving a smaller seven intact. Move that stick in front of the 2. So you have 5+7=12
First way: Right way to do it. 10\10
Second way: Although correct, there is no enough room to place negative sign in front of two. 6/10
Third way: Nah, you would have to move both matches to form > since both lines are slanted. 4/10
Fourth way: It's correct, I'll allow it. 9/10
Fifth way: You can't make 6 out of 2. 6 out of 5 - yes, 9 out of 5 - yes, 6 out of 2 - nope. 1/10
Sixth way: Your 7 and 1 are superscripts now. I don't like it. 2/10
All five of your moves are incorrect
Will not work still have a match on the bottom will not be a 9
couldn’t you also take the stick from the plus and move it to make it negative two?🤓🤓
