    I loved hearing, and seeing, your perspective on this tactic. Great info, as always.

    Brett Bloemendaal brought his A-game today on the jigging raps! Nice slam-fest, Brett!

    I fish the Missouri River a lot to and use to cruse around points with bottom bouncers and crawlers 😂. I started pulling into points and spot lock and fan cast with jigging raps. After 5-6 casts if no fish I move on! Lots of fun and killing the fish.

    Another great video. Going to Audobon for the first time tomorrow, going to try the jigging rap for the first time now as well!

      Thanks! I haven't fished Audubon this time of year before, but I'd think a jigging rap could do some damage!

    I hear guys saying that you'll increase the numbers of landed fish using Mono vs Braid. Others seem to prefer the sensitivity and feel of braid and accept the trade off. What are your thoughts?

    • @BloemendaalFishing
      @BloemendaalFishing  2 года назад +3

      I agree. I use braid and loosen the drag a bunch when I hook up and play the fish really carefully. Braid lets you get more snap in the action, so I think it can get more bites, so maybe lose more but catch more still. If you can rip it really hard, you can still get a good pop with mono, but I think it’s easier to fish with braid. So subjective.

    I hear you running braid, what length mono leader and is so what poundage you find best?
    Some say walleys can't see green/dark braid or splash colored braid in #10-#12.

      I use ten pound braid with a 12 pound fluorocarbon leader on jigging raps. I don’t worry too much about visibility on Sak.

      @BloemendaalFishing The slickline gives you one and a half circle on the drop, do you know what Rapala's drop rate is? I looked around online Google didn't have a lot of information.

    • @BloemendaalFishing

      I used 7'0" Medium Fast rod with 10 lb braid main line and 14 lb flouro leader with a snap to the lure.

    Do you add a barrel swivel? If you do how far up the line?

    • @BloemendaalFishing
      @BloemendaalFishing  2 года назад +3

      I don’t, I connect the fluorocarbon to braid with a double Uni knot and then just put a quick change snap on the end of the fluorocarbon leader.

    Does the snap jigging technique work after dark?

    • @BloemendaalFishing
      @BloemendaalFishing  Год назад

      Great question. I’ve done it right at sunset with success, but never tried later. I’d guess it could since crank baits work, but I don’t know for sure.

    I suppose this works for you, but it LOOKS to me like you are not letting it fall on a slack line. It looks like you are ripping up, then holding the tip of the rod up there. Explain.

    • @BloemendaalFishing
      @BloemendaalFishing  7 месяцев назад

      To be ultra-specific about what I try to do (most of the time), is keep the line slack but keep the rod tip just close enough that if a fish hit it on the way down, I'd feel that hit just like a regular jig bite, and I could do an early hookset to get that fish before my next rip. Sometimes I end up feeling the lure get "caught" by the line through my rod tip before it hits bottom, but it's not typically my intention. That said, I've also seen some really good anglers say they actually prefer following it down with a tight line rather than slack, which would probably reduce the action on the lure, but maybe sometimes that's a positive thing if fish aren't quite as aggressive and don't want so much erratic movement. So there are lots of options that work, some better in certain situations probably, but that's what I'm trying my best to do most of the time anyway.
