Great video. I've been wondering how to protect myself when I design a product and no one has been able to answer it with this level of detail that you have. Thanks Amy !
I’m currently speaking with two suppliers about a product. I’m having a hard time choosing which one I want to go with. I obviously have to choose one that I will move forward with for the bulk production. But I’m wondering, do I need to do an NNN agreement with both of them to make sure that the one I don’t decide to go with doesn’t steal my idea? Also, at what point is it expected/necessary to have the NNN agreement, general conditions document and spec document drawn up?
You use a decoy product (a stock product similar to yours but without your changes) to talk to and vet your suppliers. Then when you know which supplier you will choose, you have them sign the NNN agreement and release your designs to them. Then when they create a sample to your liking and before you start production, you have another call about payment terms, pricing, etc. and have them sign the general conditions agreement when you do the first purchase order. If you'd like to learn exactly what questions to ask and get templates for these documents along with access to my attorneys and sourcing resources on the ground in China, you can access everything for only $99 at amazingathome.com/mastermind
To get your NNN signed, do you email it to your supplier, and then have them FedEx the signed copy to you before you sign it? Or do you sign it first, FedEx it to them, they sign it, then send it back to you?
You send it electronically, they sign scan and send back and once my attorney checks the signatures and makes sure they're good I have them fedex me a hard copy
Unfortunately, we only share our lawyer with our paying clients who have been through our training so as to not overwhelm our trusted resource providers.
Thank you for the video! I am Bruce Li, A Chinese Lawyer based in Guangzhou ,be free to talk to me if you need the lawyer review before you signing the contract.
I have an NNN agreement that I was going to send to a new supplier but he wants me to read and sign his NDA agreement. Is this normal as I have never come across this situation. He wants me to stamp it and send it back but I don't have a company stamp. I'm a sole trader business.
hello ma'am. We spent $10,000 with a Chinese vendor on alibaba for some printers. We did not have any knowledge about the contracts you explained in this video. We did not receive our order till 5 months later and when it arrived it was damaged and inoperable and now we have to incur all the return shipping fees. We are looking to see about communicating with your Chinese lawyer to see if we have a opportunity to sue alibaba or the vendor for damages. We are desperate ma'am. We wanted to start a printing company to leave to our kids and now we are looking like failures. If you can offer any help. We would appreciate it greatly
Thanks for the video, very helpful. I am in the middle of waiting to get back my NNN contract from 2 of my potential suppliers. I shouldn’t give them any information before getting the signed contract correct? Do these suppliers get scared when handed an NNN agreement from your experience? Has any told you no they will not work with you because of the contract? I did that mistake with one of the suppliers. Gave them some information then handed them the contract to sign. That supplier came back saying that they couldn’t do my product. But didn’t give me any reason behind it and now blocked me. Im scared I screwed myself over. Any thoughts? Is there an approach to bring this contract up that best worked for you? I asked my Chinese lawyer and he didn’t say anything about that. I appreciate it so much. Thank you!
If they tell you they will not work with you that's a huge red flag. The NNN protects both you and the supplier. Please take my free course explaining how to find suppliers and source products at amazingathome.com/courses/c2l-free/

Interesting. Haven't heard of this but I suppose it's okay. I would ask my legal advisor.

what is a normal price for a NNN agreement?
There's no such thing as a normal price for any legal work. It always depends on the amount of work the lawyer has to do and their hourly rate.
