Great overview and comparison Mikael. They do look like really cool little buggies and really fast straight out of the box. Can't wait to see them running.
What an excellent, in depth overview and comparison, Mikael. You certainly covered all the main points very clearly, great for anyone looking to get one of these great little buggies. Gotta be a thumbs up! P.S. We are making the same music choices again mate! Great to see that you have good taste! ;D
Thanks, Mark! I love making these videos, finding out the precise differences along the way myself too. And yeah, I hope it will be helpful for somebody out there, especially the young people just getting started with the hobby (although a lot of the young people probably know more about RCs than me after a couple of days in the hobby). Ha ha, yeah, we have good taste in both music and RCs :-)
Hehe - you are very modest! Young people sure do learn fast, but not THAT fast!!! Your jokes are nearly as good as your taste in music, made me smile anyway! ;D
Hey dude. Thankyou, you've just saved me some money. On eBay UK there's a special deal on the slower one. I was going to buy one and put brushless in it straight away but I didn't know about the plastic wheel cups and lower spec. I'll wait and buy the B. Good work. 👍😁
Thanks for watching, my friend. Yeah, especially if the A959 also has plastic gears compared to the metal gears in the A959-B. I think that's how it is, from what I've heard and seen from others, but later I will open them up in this series and then we can see for ourselves, cars side by side. First up, a couple of runs though :-)
Another great comparison video my friend. From what you have shown us so far, the A959-B seems to be better value for money at only £7.14 more, with it's metal parts, bigger motor and bigger battery with a Deans connector. : )
Thanks, Derek! Yeah much better I think, though I also think the little one is great. Much more managable. But for the little extra money one could probably get an extra 390 motor and motor mount - and then one would have a managable A959 but with all the upgraded parts of the A959-B and be able to switch depending on desireable speed/power 😃
Yeah, the LiPo will spark it up quite a bit. Got a video comparing the A and B version. Not sure the A-version got the LiPo cut-off though so you might want to run it with an external LiPo alarm.
I got 2 of these for £50 to rip out the radio gear and transmitters for my 2 ppl 1/16 army trucks to make them hobby grade rc's. Waaay cheaper than buy the radio gear and electronics separately. Ooooh yeeeah man. 😎👍👍👍
Hello mate ordering the a959b just wondering with the 540 motor mate what size shaft brushless I could use that will work with the stock gearing please going for around 3000kv I think is it 2mm 2.3 or 3.175mm please bit confusing 🙏💚👊
Great little car but the steering arms are a joke one of my tyres is leaning out so bad just wont go straight. How can i fix the wheel play my front left wheel is pointing outwards?
I just seen Kevin Talbot do this comparison, both seem like great beginner trucks or for a kid, this is the rc that I seen a ad for on Facebook n made me want one n got me into the hobby last Xmas awesome video way more in depth comparison then Kev great info n video my brotha! 👍😎
Maybe a bit more boring than Kev's video (I like his videos, great RC entertainment) but definitly more in-depth and thorough :-) Wow, only last Xmas? Seriously, you got all those cars in your collection in under a year? Impressive :-)
Hi again. It's basically the same car with different motors and gear ratio. But more speed with these small 1/18 will definitely mean less control and stability, so in that way the A959-B will be less controllable and stable with full throttle.
Yeah it's all stock at the moment. I will change the entire electric system in the the thing because it's so much fun. I do keep everyone up to date with videos.
Its mad isnt it? I must be unlucky. Tony RC tech said the same, hes never had a problem with his and hes had his a959 for four years. Must be the new batches using cheaper materials or something
So I recently bought myself an a959b and within a couple of runs, i realised that my front wheels were spinning like mad when i hammered it from a stop. Then when i held it in my hand and reved it the rear wheels were hardly moving please could someone tell me why this is happening. Thank you.
Hi bro! My guess is that your rear diff or axles broke or something got loose. Also check your center drive line. There's really no good advice here, other than to start investigating gears and axles.
No problem bro I run a 2 wheel drive Traxxas Slash and make up about 50% of my channel would you recommend getting one of these just so I can have something different than the Slash
It’s quite affordable, and I think they are worth the price. And very different from a Slash 1/10. Both in size, but of course also a different quality compared to a Traxxas. But different prices as well :-)
Anyone ever burn the motor in one session? And how many fully charged batteries did it take. Kinda worried cuz i have 3 and i dont wanna burn my motor. Temp is about 60s degrees fh
The temp on the A959 standard is fine in my tests. Really cool. The temp after just 3-5 minutes of running with the A959-B is ridiculously high. Surprised you made it with 3 batteries if there was not any pauses to let it cool down between the batteries.
@@NordicRC if i ever do burn out my motor, what motor replacement do you recommend? i might actually order it now so i dont have to wait for it. thanks.
@@nishblaze I'm actually not sure, since these WLToys motors have some sort of modification or timing attached (the external circuit boards at the end of the motor) that I do not have in any of my other "cans" (the closed brushed ones like these).
Nicely produced video but you skipped right over the 2in1 ESC/Receiver, which are different models in each car, diffrent part numbers & diffrent prices for each when sold as a spare part, though they look quite a lot the same they are slightly different and are not the same inside. I already know why you skipped it and I realize this will be a fruitless endeavor but I will just keep trying and maybe just maybe someone, somewhere will come up with an actual, honest, and factual answer! Sooooooooo...... Why all the dang mystery XK? (1)• How many turns is the 540 motor in the a959B? (2)• How many turns is the 540 motor in the a969B? (MotionRC has different 540s, from XK, for each). (3)• How many amps/watts is the a959 ESC in the 2in1? (4)• How many amps/watts is the a959B ESC in the 2in1? (5)• What is the max motor turn limit for each ESC? (6)• Wasn't gonna ask but how many turns is the 380 motor in the a959?
I had a early 2000s pro pulse RC buggy from radio shack it has a very similar layout as the 959 family my gut tells me might be from the same company only upgraded to 2.4 ghz and lipo battery how can I find out
Maybe it’s the same, although the design and set-up of the A959 is a very standard buggy design found in many models. I think the first A959 came out in 2014.
i bought the a959 b a month ago.gears stipped 2nd battery charge.they meshed a plastic gear with metal gear just a poor. design.emailing back and forth with wltoys and they give me ridiculous solutions basically giving me the run around.$50 later for metal upgrades the car runs now and is fast.terrible customer service they won't make it right.don't recommend this product unless you spend as much as the car costs in upgrades.
Hi Chris. Yeah, I hear about other people having trouble with the plastic gears. That's why I have a new upgrade series going on now about the drive line/gears. I've never personally had any trouble with these myself though. Not a part broken. And I've had seven A9*9 models. Maybe I've just been lucky.
Great overview and comparison Mikael. They do look like really cool little buggies and really fast straight out of the box. Can't wait to see them running.
Thanks, Rob. Run time up next. Yeah, great little buggies for the money. You could have gotten 10-20 of them instead of your new Avante 😉

Get some adjustable turn buckles for it 🙂 Won’t fix the flex of the lower arm and the tower though. But flex is good for durability and crashes.

is there a major difference in the stability and the handling between these two models
Hi again. It's basically the same car with different motors and gear ratio. But more speed with these small 1/18 will definitely mean less control and stability, so in that way the A959-B will be less controllable and stable with full throttle.
Which one would you recommend?

No discustion about ESC, is there different esc or same? Because tho motor is different. Please answer.
