Here are some tips for this truck: the truck is hard to drive, but you shouldn't brake so hard, that is what makes it flip like that. Also you should gradually accelerate to get top speed. Have fun!
This thing is crazy. I have the A959 with brushless conversion. Easy fix to prevent the gears from getting dirty: ruclips.net/video/ZGCwq8maeQU/видео.html With this stability management it will drive straight on gravel: ruclips.net/video/JT44wb_S_bI/видео.html
Try and get your hands on the 12428 if you can Vas. These trucks are as tough as old boots and being 1/12th scale they handle the gravel a lot better. I'm glad you like the little 1/18th MT it looks like fun,but it's just too small for me.
Don't bother putting oil in the shocks, it will just leak out. You can buy oil filled shocks for these pretty cheap. The servo has a five wire cable so if you want a better servo you'll have to change the receiver, and speed controller too. I've done a brushless conversion on the a979 model. Had to modify the diffs though as it kept destroying the stock ones. Loads of fun for not much money though.
Ryan Hansen The WLToys 12428 model has very similar diffs to the A979 but the gears inside have coarser teeth. If you remove these inner gears from the 12428 diff and file out the slots in the umbrella gears, you can fit them into the casing of the A979 diff.
59 isn't quite 70 but remember it's carrying a GPS that it isn't supposed to have on it. For tje weight of the car any extra weight would slow it down. An upgrade series would be cool. I'm getting one. It'd be nice to see how it could be improved. Specifically traction and suspension.
Love it Vas! :) I got the A979 A, not the B model that has the 380 motor. More controllable, and I added shock oil to it, and it helped a lot.. Mine was $29.99 on Amazon!!!! I just went with the different distributor, Geepker. Amazing for the price :).
Nice review! Please upgrade the parts you consider. I have the a version and I'am upgrading it to brushless and some aluminium parts. I'll love to see what parts you decide to upgrade, and what shock oil is the best with some outmarket shocks.
I have the earlier version of this truck and after the 4th run I started hearing grinding sounds and well I tore up my spur or some other gear. The gears are plastic and well I haven't touched it since then as I want to buy the metal gears before I do. On another note the steering was not to my liking so I might need to upgrade the servo too. And like you said Vas...this truck doesn't like going at full speed.
Nice video and review. Would subscribe if there was more of these reviews at this price point. The rest of the videos are way above my budget hehe. Wouldn't mind the top 10 style for RC cars of this budget. Even categorised by style, eg off road, tarmac etc.
Please upgrade with ball bearings, new shocks and metal parts needed. On this vehicle you can find everything and you can make it a good car. I would like to know your opinion.
I had this and the rally version and they both developed the gear grinding noise which resulted in a damaged spur and pinion. So that's definitely a weakness. Cool vid though
Hello I actually think this little guy is pretty trick because you can actually fully customize it all the way up to I believe there is a 1/10 scale aluminium chassis for this little monster and they offer alot of upgradable parts for it like brushless motor and esc combo as well as a metal chassis for its original size and also kits for anything you want to do to modify it like fully size oil filled shocks as well as bearings for the wheels and metal servo horn or U can just upgrade the servo as well as all the individual parts needed for what ever you want to do to it. I think it's pretty trick what you can get for a relatively low price even after fully upgrading it
This things got me in into buggies. I started with the a959, to a hobbyking 1/16 4wd racing buggy. To a losi mini 8ight,To an ecx revenge 1/8. To a losi 3.0 8ight. And for 45$, it's crazy cheap, even parts for my losi mini 8ight cost 45$
At $45 it's such a deal, and the upgrade parts are dirt cheap, you can get the entire set of aluminum shocks for like $8, hub bearings for $2, I think you can even get an aluminum chassis for like $20.
Thanx for the video! I need help PLEASE. Brand new 959 that I got , but I cant control it. I switch on the radio and the LED blinks red and green. I switch on the car (Battery is full) and the ESC light just blinks. From there nothing happens at all. When I touch the remote , its LED will be constant green , but the ESC still flashes and no control over the car. ( I have left the car on and red-green flashing for minutes on end with no success) That am I doing wrong?
I got this car today and don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but I've gone to charge the battery and there's no indicator light on the charger, shouldn't it be flashing green when its charging and solid green when fully charged, please help and when I went to turn the car on it was flashing red.
Lol. That thing is rediculous. You can get that exact truck on banggood for $73 bucks right now. They have a buggy version to. I've thought about buying one before just for fun. Cool review though. Thanks
The acceleration trim presumably slows it down? So full trigger for less acceleration? Or less top speed overall? I'm aware it's ridiculously overpowered so it'd be nice to trim some of that off. Is that what the trim is for?

Great video and beautiful review. I own lots of Wltoys rcs all of the A9x9 series. From what I can tell the a9x9b versions use the exact same brushed can motor as the Wltoys 12423 and 12428
The factory steering linkage and servo are garbage. I had the rally version and does not matter what I did it never held a straight line. Mine had cnc shock towers, chassis brace, center drive shaft, but the steering really killed it. The reason you are having problems, same deal, spin out at full speed. Swapping the servo is not that easy as it has its own wiring setup to the esc. Back to the steering, tuned shocks, ball bearings, etc... ended selling it dirt cheap, just enough to buy a combo meal, lol.
Chris Watson not sure about the S maxx, but this thing looks far too fast and uncontrollable for a novice, they would likely have a fairly spectacular crash imho. Some of the cheap rock crawling trucks can be good fun for kids, you don’t need too much space or a track or road to have fun.
it doesn't help that the front wheels are pointing in different directions with no adjustment to correct it and you'll probably find that 1 or more of the shock shafts are sticking which is limiting the shock travel, the one i received had 3 bad shocks. i was pissed enough after just paying $65 for one i would have been ballistic if i would have paid 140, they ended up giving me a $45 refund and i gave the truck to one of the neighbor kids
Great video! I love this car it is truly awesome. However, don't forget to buy an extra set of wheel nuts. The wheels sometimes fall off and the nuts are easy to loose: www.ebay.com/itm/174410284464

I was able to get mine up to 35mph most of the videos I've seen on it was able to get it around the same speed. 70kmh is a hoax that they just put on the description and the box of this thing The motor is too powerful for this little truck parts on it feel very cheaply made and steering is very bad it will not stay straight

Areld Fish,Turtle - yes the upgraded alloy shocks can be oil filled.
