I mean...I'm happy that we have a new Primal, it's just not what I was hoping for. Personally I would have liked the original design as a Voyager or Leader size with a Gorilla mode similar to what we got from forged to fight.
i would personally like to see Thunderwing done in this line; *a small dude combining or evolving with armour to be the bigger dude *perfect scale among the generations decepticons *hasbro would have a decepticon in their leader classes *and he did hold the matrix in the marvel comics I mean shit, this gimmick is begging to bring this character into the line!
I can't believe that Thunderwing was passed up twice now. They already have the mold mostly ready from Titans Return Black Shadow yet he was passed up and now all the possible gimmicks match up for PotP and still no Thunderwing. Thunder Mayhem just isn't cutting it for Thunderwing. Starsaber and Ultra Magnus being passed up for a PotP leader sucks just as much. Hound, Arcee, Shockwave and Deathsaurus wouldn't have made sense for this style of figure though even if the thought of a leader Shockwave and Deathsaurus is awesome. Megatron to Galvatron could've been cool though. We have Rodimus Unicronus and Nemesis Prime is coming out soon too so I hope there's a Primal Prime in the works as well.
There's still a good chance for both Thunderwing and Star Saber to get new figures based on the POTP Leader gimmick in future lines because as we've seen in POTP Hasbro isn't against bringing back past gimmicks to give us characters that still need updates like Abominus and Predaking.
So, you can basically take that pin out and have a separate, fully transforming Optimal AND Optimus. I've seen someone, I think it was Ben, put a Diaclone pilot in the Matrix cockpit and it worked quite well.

Hey peaugh, man dude I’ve been watching you review for a long time I want to say since 2007 maybe even before then haha always a pleasure watching your videos!
I know it's been a year but which version of the mold should I go for? The retail one or the Throne Of The Primes version? Whichever one I get I also plan to get the corresponding DNA Designs upgrade kit to give him his vehicle mode. I'm leaning more towards the TOTP version but $74 vs $50 plus the kit makes the math a bit iffy. So the heart of my question is this, is the TOTP version WORTH spending more on? I don't have the mold so it would be my first time owning it.
I think knocking that pin out it totally the way to go. It'll make all 3 of his core modes look better, and even if you want to do rocket-sled mode, they peg into the gorilla feet, which should hold the sled in place. Great suggestion! This figure just became a lot more desirable!
Actually, that hinge is just to keep it all together during transfomation. the two halves of the smaller bot actually tab together pretty securely in all modes even after he's detached.
I want this figure badly. While I feel as though Optimal Optimus would have been better suited for a regular Generations figure, this one isn't bad at all. About time BW gets some love in the regular line.
All sorts of blindsided by just how much I’m loving this guy. Yeah, the integration of Primal (or, conversely, his own backpack) isn’t great, but it is at least pretty self-contained. It’s also not hampered by the perpetually intrusive gimmicks of the old toy and might actually beat out SS Lockdown as the most impressively decoed HasTak figure this year. Haven’t seen Nemesis Prime in hand yet, but this might be the pick of the bunch.
Still have the original beast wars optimal optimus can't wait to get this version. To be honest I didn't get into transformers since beast wars came out. Can't wait to snag this guy looks dope

I want this primal so badly.it reminds so much of the original optimal optimus and what i thought primal would look without a beast mode.i dont like how the cockpit looks and im thinking about repainting that part to match the original since ill never have him in hoverboard mode i know leaving it grey will drive me crazy lol
Man seeing this just makes me want this figure more the original was my very first Transformer but I was either 2 or 3 when I got so I didn't know how to transformer it and when I finally learned my little brother broke the robot mode head off I still have the toy though
I've said for years that Hasbro could easily modify MP24 into an old style larger Leader class figure by replacing the diecast bits with a heavy plastic in a corresponding gray - if it worked for Bandai America in adapting the Ninpuu Sentai Hurricanger mecha into the Power Rangers Ninja Storm Megazords, then there's NO reason it can't work for Hasbro - aside from the fact that it probably ain't hollow enough for Hasbro's taste.

It would have also been nice if they made it so optimal could transform into tank mode.
The shot with all those S1 Primals made me realise how much pure love I have for that design and the character. I'm so glad Primal won the fan vote. I wish Hasbro would realise that fans got over the BW disappointment like 20 years ago. Nothing but fond memories now.

You are correct in that. Megatron found the Ark and proceeded to destroy Optimus Prime to change the future. In order to save Prime, Primal took in Prime's spark since it would be too risky to operate while the spark was in Prime. Primal took in the spark even though Rhinox said it would be dangerous for two sparks to inhabit one body. Optimal Optimus was the result of the fusion. After Rhinox repaired Prime, Primal put the spark back into Prime and thus the future returned to normal. BTW I did this all off of memory.

Sentinel Prime No (correct me if I'm wrong), more like from 2000 to 2006, when Transformers were good, and were complex, when Hasbro actually made good figures.....compared to nowadays, when figures aren't so complex any more, unfortunately.

Yeah, PE's Beast Gorira is a superior figure and representation of Optimal Optimus. For 130 dollars more, it HAS to be a superior product. For the cost of Gorira, you could buy Optimal Optimus, a voyager, 4 deluxes, 3 Prime Masters, and 1 legend at normal retail prices. That's a voyager and a legend away from literally buying the entire wave for the price of Gorira. There's just no way to fairly compare those products.

I think I read in an article somewhere that Primals 'alt-mode' is supposed to be some kinda cargo ship. Make of that what you will Peaugh.
Fits into Primal's role of being a cargo ship captain if you think about it.
