Bhaktha Ramadasa wrote this song. He lived in 17th century. He constructed SriRama Temple at Bhadrachalam, which is in Telangana State. All his songs are offerings to Lord Rama. Every year on SriRama Navami(Birthday of Lord Rama) , Kalyanam ( Marriage ritual) for Lord Rama and Godess Sita is performed, considered as LokaKalyanam (praying for Prosperity of entire world)
River Godavari flows at Bhadrachalam. The temple vibrates with SriRama namam (sacred name ).
As soon as you step into the temple you forget all materialistic world and your whole body, mind, soul become peaceful and ur eyes will be filled with joyful tears. You will be blessed to see Sitamma sitting in Lord Rama's lap and lakshmana(brother)

If music is one excellent aspect of this Kirtana, I cant explain how awesome the lyrics are. If only I could turn on a switch that will let anyone who hears this kirtina understands Telugu just for the duration of this song.
Sure you are right. I totally agree. Nevertheless, i believe that our common God makes invisible miracles. I personally work for translations and transcriptions of music scores in many languages. And of course, i don't speak most of languages i work on. But somewhere, i feel , always fell the meaning of the original lyrics, before translating. For Indian languages it is very complex for me also, but i feel the essentiel. Something or someone gives me the nectar of the words. Sometimes, many years after having translating a song, i forget the meaning, but always remember the colors of paradise, the sound of heaven and the savor of love. Actually, this is the reason of music ! But this is only possible with a perfect communion and cleverness between the voice and the instruments. Clearly, with Parakkai Unnikrishnan and Uthara, i am often very satisfied about the quality of music, really inspired and inventive, a real progressive Carnatic music .... But for exemple, even with great singers as Uthara or Sooryagayathri, if the music is stupid and without soul, it is impossible to receive anything really inhabited, and then their is no transcendence. Not at all ! The last recording of Soorya on Strumm Spiritual, is exactly on this regrettable way, where even a perfect voice cannot give, transmit the divine message, because of a stupid and agreed music. For these marvelous singers, perfectly taught, and for real Carnatic music, there are places to be, and places not to be.
Anyway, i hope that today, many young Indian people learn different languages of India, whose Telugu, and learn to write it, because each magnificent original writing owns all the beauty of universe in its own aesthetic. Especially indian ones.
