This album resonated with my soul on a level I initially didn't understand. Life is not about winning, or lingering on regret. Life is a journey, meant to simply be experienced. Understand this wisdom, and you experience stillness.
I just listened to the Full album through, and I have some thoughts. I think the whole album expresses a person’s mental journey who has struggled with something. The album opens with “Cellar Door” with almost indecipherable lyrics and anger. Next, “Jaded” is more melodic than you can understand some of where the anger is coming from now that you can hear a little more. She says that she’s jaded. Then in the next song, the writer gets even more open and emotional and says that she had a dream or goal, but she feels like she can’t reach it because she’s too late. Then there’s another interlude of rage with “Angel Eyes,” and then we go into the void. It feels like in the void she’s doing some processing of these feelings; she said she takes a walk to the water at night. It’s very introspective, which contrasts with the faster beat. Then the final song, “Ultraviolet,” is really the catharsis of all of these emotions. She says throughout the song that she has dreams of dying, and then, in the final moment, the climax of the song in the whole album, another voice comes in as if from a dream, where she says, “You know where you wanna go; it’s not too close, it’s never too late; there’s always time the whole album.” She was wrestling with the despair of feeling like she could never get what she wanted to go, but there’s this hopeful and joyful release at the very end where she realizes that that wasn’t true.
The only thing holding this EP back from being a 10/10 is the EMBARRASSINGLY BAD Album title. “The Fear of Fear” ? Really? Even if it was MEANT to be stupid, it would still be a bad album title.
It's like "the only thing we have to fear is, fear itself" from FDR who was one of the worst president's we have had in the U.S. and this quote is kind of stupid. Reminds me of Demoralization, but Spiritbox members probably don't know what demoralization/active measures/beautiful trouble/praxis/dialectic are. Unless SB are themselves, part of that cult.
It's a spin off of one of the most recognized presidential speeches in history by F.D.R. when he was campaigning during the Great Depression. He used the slogan to say that all our difficulties at the time were simply material problems and could be overcome as there was truly only one problem."The only thing we have to fear is, fear itself." I think it's a brilliant title and very appropriate for the time considering where we are as a nation given the generations coming into adulthood who understand nothing of the American spirit due to ignorance of U.S. history and focus on materialism. We're in a real crappy position but truly the only problem is the fear of fear.
My sister played this band in the car yesterday and every song is a Hit for me 😤🔥
You should see them live!! EPIC

You get it. The album is about overcoming mental struggles, confronting fear and doubt, to rise above the darkness.

Just really really good.
Solid all around.
No bad songs. Very good.
There's something with cellar door wich reminds me of Korn, i'd love to hear there singer add something to the song

Eternal Purple > Eternal Blue
Eternal Blue was a great album too. I do like how on The Fear of Fear every song leads into the next.
Not a big fan of the screaming, but the singing is really good

Keep your close mindedness to yourself then, perhaps..? Or just get over your obnoxious and condescending ego?
@@Cornpop320 You have a beautiful mind. However, the person you commented to does not..
is it really that bad lol
