That intro of the people singing 12 days of Christmas hits me so viscerally every time.
Those people having to read the lyrics off of their phones turns my traditional Christmas heart to stone.

okay so my roommate and i were like, enchanted by how bizarre this lead actress performance was so we did some digging and:
oops! this is an australian movie from 2021 filmed in peak COVID originally titled... sit stay love?
watching chunks of this movie with the knowledge it's all australian actors doing their best american accents while they're all guessing what vermont is supposed to look like is wild.
it also clarified the "myth" situation when we realized the man is truly just australian.
they filmed it in queensland!?! maybe the most opposite of snowy north america?

This doesn't explain their delivery but maybe it explains something about the accents.
The main girl, the love interest, the dad and the "not good with business" dude (the top 4 actors on imdb)... are all Australians.
The director is too - maybe he didn't even notice some of the dialogue was impossible to comprehend lol

You repeat the "houses for elephants" clip so many times that I'm starting to notice how she says, "ThaiLUND" instead of "Thailand," which I probably wouldn't have noticed the first few times.
Ragingly Avaryl seems appropriate for this film.
