It feels abrupt, because we don't see her changing her mind. At first she doesn't permit Spock's blood donation, because she doesn't want to lose both Sarek and Spock. Then, somewhere in between the two scenes, we should see her accept that Spock's offer is indeed the only way to save Sarek's life. Dr. McCoy and Nurse Chapel had the success of the operation on their mind and they didn't have time to let Spock speak to someone.
Part of me thinks that there is a scene missing, where Amanda has a discussion with maybe McCoy or something like that, which forces her to change her mind, and they cut it out because the episode was too long. But that's just an assumption from my side of course
Makes sense imho. McCoy makes her realize that surgery and blood donation are the only chance for Sarek and she hesitates, then agrees. She tells Spock that she allows surgery and blood donation, in fact she even urges Spock to do it. He agrees and she feels some relieve and sees some hope. And then in the next pre-operation scene. Spock is willing to let Sarek die for the sake of the ship and all aboard. That intention makes her really mad, she tries to make him feel guilty, is unsuccessful, which leaves her very frustrated, so she slaps his fucking face.
Is anybody here able to explain me what is on this video so controversial that it deserves to be demonetized again? I am seriously getting sick of it :(
