- As a single man, Peter Mutabazi, didn't know if he could become a foster parent. When he found out he was eligible, he signed up right away. He always wanted to have a child, and he ended up adopting a teen out of foster care who needed a forever home.

Orphaned kids don't ask for much really. They never do, they just want what we all fortunate people took for granted. A home.
I heard a "man" once, late in his 30s try to compare his "struggles" to other ppl who legitimately struggle... Complain about how his parents wont help pay his bills. That sounded so weird to me!!!
@@ahhwe-any7434 I think it's human to forget to count our blessings and be grateful. I won't minimize other people's struggle, because we all struggle differently. Even the most fortunate people have struggles, to live is to struggle. But some people are just spoiled and ungrateful.

Positive Masculinity, a real man.
@aziz Sadat not really lol there’s the traditional notion of masculinity (as there is one for femininity) which we find toxic these days. And then there’s the redefined, positive masculinity.
@Thanos Sigil Noone says men must be feminine. They can be if they want to. Toxic masculinity is not the same thing as masculinity.
Love love love it!
Masculinity is naturally positive.
@@lawlaw295 That depends on our cultural definition of masculinity. If our concept of masculinity entails being homophobic, degrading femininity, and having no interest in developing emotional intelligence: Then no, masculinity isn't positive. But those things I listed are just a subset. Overall your right, masculinity is of course positive.
I love how chill the son is! They seem to really have a great connection and I am happy for them for finding each other as a family :)

As a former foster kid this warms my heart. I don't understand the people who downvoted this video.
Chloe, you probably don't understand because good, moral, caring, responsible people assume everyone is like them, and it's so disheartening when we see what some people are capable of. I sincerely hope you are having a good life! That any child has to go through any heartache, abuse, insecurity... God bless everyone who mentors/fosters/adopts a child. I just realized even though I'm way to old to adopt, maybe I can volunteer somewhere or take a family under my wing so to speak and help in some way. Darn this covid.

That’s so nice. Older children are so difficult to place 💗
That's true, I visited an orphanage and met a 16yo kid. Very nice, polite, courteous, he had been there since 12yo. the sad thing is, he was still very hopeful.
@Keenan Thomas That's a good perspective. I was too afraid to say anything else as I was still in college back then. I felt that I might say something wrong. I didn't want to discourage him further. To keep it light, I asked him what his hobbies were and then I said that would help him decide what major he'll take in college. And he said, he's not even sure if he'll be able to get in college. Was wondering what happened to him. I hope you are right that he has finally made a family of his own.
This is very inspiring and heart warming, bright me to tears. God, is so good!
@Keenan Thomas because no one wants to invest time and monetary wealth into something that is not their own. it's not that hard to understand especially since the original parents gave up the foster child then why should others carry that burden?
@@Michael20 because that "burden", as you said so nicely, michael, is still a human being, not some adopted dog you can put down when nobody wants it

Well my son is almost 21 i was a single dad to him as well as 4 siblings . so I was 19 when i officially became the guardian to my siblings. And raised them all myself . I worked my tail off to provide a great life for them all . they all finished school most of them graduated college . have families of they're own now. When many thought i was too young to do the job. My son is the last 1 left in the nest but I can say I earned the respect of them all by leading by example at such a young age myself. But ai was determined to keep my siblings together inside the family . when nobody else stepped up to save them. I worked 80 hours a week most weeks or worked 20 days no days off . napping whenever possible . transporting kids to an from 4 different schools daily and paying for daycare for my son who was 2 at the time . all while caring for my aging sick grandma till her last breath. She instilled the work ethics and drive in me growing up. As well as compassion and empathy towards everyone family or not. I say this not for any praise . but to help break the mold that guys cant be good father's especially blk men. Im proof it can be done.

In my country its damn hard to adopt a single child, I've heard that they take like 10 years and still aren't able to.
There is a viral video of a single italian gay man who managed to adopt a 2 year old (probably younger) girl i think. It's no surprise Peter would have the heart to adopt a child. God bless your heart, Peter, and your family! ❤️

Hey plz tell me more about the NGO
@@googleisdumb2557 hey, so Compassion is a NGO that connects sponsors, normally from wealthier countries, to children living in vulnerable areas of Latin America, Africa and Asia. To sponsor a child, you should get in contact with the Compassion office in your country and they will explain how it works. Sponsors and children are able to communicate through letters, which sounds old-fashioned, but it is the most efficient way for the NGO to protect both our children and the sponsors. The sponsorship one child will inderectly benefit other 3 children in the same center.

So there's a lot more to the story than this. I read an article about them a few months ago. Tony had been adopted as a young child, but they abandoned him at a hospital 7 years later.
Peter had actually just had 3 foster boys he'd cared for for several months leave because they were able to go back to their parents. It was emotionally taxing and he felt like he needed a break for awhile. When the caseworker reached out to him, she had to really talk him into just the two days by explaining there was literally nowhere else for him to go. When he arrived, Tony immediately wanted to call him dad, and he won his way quite quickly into Peter's heart.
For him to bond with 3 other kids and them be taken it was a huge chance he took emotionally to take another child in..and because of his willingness to be open to helping another child..well he got a forever son as his reward for being so selfless..this is a beautiful example of humanity at it's finest friend

This can really make a huge difference in a kids life. I was adopted at birth, my biological mother was 17 when she had me. She had been removed from an abusive home and placed in foster care when she was around 11 years old. She was then molested in every home she went to, including when she was fostered by her english teacher from her school. She took her own life at the age of 25. One year before we tracked down my blood family so I will never meet my mother. If she had been taken in by just ONE good person instead of a series of predators she might have lived long enough for me to have found her. So I watch this and it breaks my heart but it fills the cracks with joy and appreciation for Peter Mutabazi and others like him. The foster systems need more good people like him.

I think that the media is making us out to be more divided than we really are.
@@GobbyRocks or the media is pointing out the division that already exists, but we can't see. But a great story this was.
@@TheTonyspik True, and it''s making us more divided. These are the types of stories that we should focus on.
Peter's heart must be breaking everytime Anthony asks him every week, "When will I be adopted?" Happy for both of them especially for Anthony. His future is now much more secure, clearer and stable.
if everyone had a kind heart like that imagine how many people we could help.
Hello Sir please help me I want to be adopted I’m a teen btw
@Non Yea do u know any way I could get adopted please
To be fair. Many African cultures believe that you should foster children in the community without parents. Its very common in more humble places that people just pick up youth to give them a family
@@shashaaashashaaa5963 i’d adopt You lol But i’m only 15
@@TheOnes1 what country do u live in sweetie? I need help please
Wow. Have a child without the drama of a relationship/marriage and not have to risk getting divorced, loosing kids and seeing them maybe every other weekend, and having to pay alimony/child support post divorce? This guy had a brilliant idea. I’m going to think about this.
It's sad that's how things have become that people are frightened they won't be able to see their children when relationships breaks down but I understand that's what the courts and governments support 😒
Please, these children deserve better than to have an incel dad to add more prejudice in their lives 🙄
Adopting a child threw foster care is the easiest way and it's free with adoption tax credit you get up $14,000 back on your adoption cost.
You can see an about Peter on his RUclips channel. He wasn't and isn't skirting marriage, but the opposite. Just letting you know so you don't assume too much.
You know, if you don't abuse your wife or cheat on her, there's no "drama". Even if the relationship breaks down, you will stay friends if the relationship was healthy and respectful. But you sound like a bitter man with prejudices against women, which means abusiveness and disrespect from your side written into the equation... which is the actual origin of the "drama". I'm good friends with my ex who I spent a decade with - zero "drama" because he is a kind and empathetic man who never did anything to hurt my feelings. If we had a child but separated, we'd probably have a friendly arrangement, like a split house, because we still enjoy hanging out as friends. We did have a cat and had a friendly arrangement of taking care of the cat after the break up, so yeah, zero problems. The story is different with another ex who abused me - I'd rather lick a cactus than even see his shadow ever again, and if I had a child with him, I'd fight tooth and nail to limit his alone time with the child, because his angry temper and cruel words made me fall into deep depression, so he'd surely give the child psychological trauma too. And you... would probably teach a boy to be bitter and hate women, and totally ruin the mental health of a girl if being able to adopt one, because she would grow up with constant poison from you towards her entire gender. Peter btw does not hate women, very much the opposite, he's vocal about women's rights, so don't go searching for some mgtow kinship here: www.newsweek.com/im-single-dad-fostering-girls-sister-kidnap-parenting-1713350
God bless you both! Every kid needs a home.
I love this. I’m an adopted child as well. My family is African American too. I was fostered with this family when I was three. Adopted a couple years after that and I’ve been in the family since then. It’s been weird growing up with a family so different from my own culture and race. I wouldn’t trade it they loved me when no one else would.
I'm so glad for you, you're very brave!
I'm happy to hear this 💖
Did people ask a million questions or tease you?
@@DoubleDogsBFF yes I still get asked the same questions now and I’m 22. They ask mostly how it was growing up which was fruitful. I sometimes have to fully explain the situation for some people to understand in a way that inspiring instead of sad.
@@dc161 I'm glad you had a happy childhood and a nice family. 😊
38 yr old single dude here. Somehow family life passed me by while I was busy exploring life... Maybe one day I'll have the courage to follow my longing for kids and being there for someone as this man did.
That mean you don t have luck in your country go aboard and get a girl and make your own family places like south america and caribean

True.... I have had a lot of great experiences by being impulsive... But putting kids into a world I barely manage to fit into myself is not something I take lightly...
I have to awesome nephews and I am a great uncle, thats where I put my energy at the moment. :)
You will make a great dad some day. It will happen.
This is what love looks like.
So many great fathers in the world.
If we can adopt children, we should be able to adopt brothers and sisters to! Then maybe this world would heal.
Thats noble. This world needs a lot of healing for sure.
Huh? I'm sorry but how would people cater for their adopted siblings? Or the parents would cover that...? This comment makes no sense
yeah siblings matter so much. I always wanted to adopt siblings not just a singular child. If they are single that's fine but if they have siblings I would want to keep them together.
@@ghanamemer1628 sometimes its not just about the parents. If the child has a sibling let them be adopted together don't separate them because the parents are selfish.
this man is a KING and will raise his son to be one as well, god bless

I think foster parents are one of the most bravest and kindest people ever. I will never forget my foster mother who opened up her home to me so that I can grow and become the person I am today. I hope to become a foster parent some day as well too.
This is so great, I’m sure it gets difficult some times, but I’m so glad they have each other! Great job Peter!
I don’t think the son looks bored or sad, I think that’s just his resting face or maybe he’s nervous and doesn’t know what facial expression to make for TV. Maybe he has a mellow personality
he is a teenager ..they always look like that...two speeds 1, I know everything better than you 2, when you ask how their day is they say "good"

I was adopted by such a wonderful human being..life was difficult but love makes the difference.
Go for it Renee!
Look into it. Start the process and see where it leads.
This is so beautiful ❤️ this father has a heart of gold!
I came from an extremely abusive family. Sometimes giving your child up is for the best. Had the woman who gave birth to me would've done the right thing when I was born, I would've loved to have been in a loving home like this young man. It only made me grow up & look into adopting. Of course it fell through, but God sent me a blessing of my own after I tried to adopt with my husband but didn't happen.
Hello Jeannie
How are you doing? Hope you and your family are safe
Race should never be a factor in placing a kid in a healthy and safe home. Everyone needs love!
@Moses Mill thank god for choices right?
Or being a single male but there is
@Moses Mill not being racist but true 👍🏾
@Moses Mill Do you think for one minute that someone like you describe who will reject a child because of his race would EVER get through a Fostering Course and get Qualified?
@Moses Mill I think you are referring to Adoption, rather than Fostering.
He was excited about having a Good Dad, Good Family, Good friends and Good Schools. So precious but so sad at the same time.
Teenager are so hard to place in foster care and they rarely get adopted. This is great.
Hey Maria
How are you keeping,
Where are you from??
Dads do not get enough credit. A father figure is essential to a upbringing of a male.
And a daughter! Daughters don't do well picking husbands/partners when they had an abusive or absent father. I think we should do more in schools so that both boys and girls might be more likely to be a good parent. Of course some people won't want teachers pointing out bad characteristics, but the alternative is all the crime, abuse and neglect we have. I bet you're a good father, or a good role model if you are not a father.
Yeah thanks for reminding me about something I didn't have.
@@Victor-tl4dk I am sorry to hear that. I have friends that grew up not knowing who their father was. But, despite what people go through. You have the power to brake that chain. And you can become a father to someone else, or to you own children.
@Jennifer Coleman It is not a matter of being sexist. It is a matter of each gender within a family unit that brings up a child. Both, are equal in there roles. But, each provide something different to a child. Women provide a different outlook in a childs up bringing, as a man does as well in a different way. Boys need a father figure in there lives.
@Smiley L Yeah, I know many people who have never had a father in their lives and who are perfectly happy, healthy, and successful. I think the people who are most harmed by not having a dad are people who had a deadbeat father, or a father who just straight up left them. Obviously, having any parental figure abandon you in some way has potential to be pretty damaging to the child. But if you've never had that father/mother in your life to begin with, or you never knew them, I think the child usually isn't that affected. It's very situational lol
I love to see it good people doing good things. It helps me to know there are still good people in this world despite all the bad i see everyday.
I wish there was more news like this these days. Respect 👏
I could never look into that young man's sad puppy eyes and say no.
