What does God see when he looks into our hearts? Does he see a humble, contrite and broken heart, that he will not spurn?
Today Fr. Mike Schmitz shares a word of encouragement from the book of 1 Samuel for how to shape our hearts so that the Lord can be present to them and abide in them.

Thank you. I am in a similar place. I think everyone who speaks with God has had a rough few years, looking around with fresh eyes at what we thought society was....many are being covertly persecuted by their own households, biblical prophecy on a personal level. You are not alone

Don’t worry! Put your trust in the Lord, seek assistance from others, keep doing your work and avail of the sacraments, we cannot do everything alone (despite our independence). God blessed us all the time but it can be hard to see it (do you know the words of Amazing Grace hymn?)

I was listening without watching the video, and I immediately went back and watched it to make sure I heard what I thought I heard hahaha. I’m still wondering if his editor is just messing with him and all of us😂
This is exactly what I needed to hear. I have suffered a lot of trauma in my life, and I struggle to trust God, muchless feel that He loves me due to my past trauma and past sins. I feel unlovable. I teared up when Fr. Mike said that God loves me. Please pray for me. Thank you.
So many of us feel this exact same way, and the saddest thing is we all feel like we're the only ones going through it. I reccomend a Catholic therapist to work through your trauma 🩷 a lot of parishes provide therapy to parishioners
Wow. I just said this aloud in prayer, asking why I am so unlovable to people here, on the earth, but not to Him. It's a hard time for many but obviously God seems to know just what messages we need, at just the right time. I was chatting on here with someone, then saw this was posted and said Oh, Father Mike heard me again, I need to go repent. You're not alone. God loves you. Pray. Fast. Repeat. Confess, repent, be charitable, repeat. The less we sin in auch a time, the more our shine will rub off on those aeound us. May God bless you and bring you immediate peace, with an unburdened heart, in Jesus name, by His stripes we are healed, amen.
@retrorenegade1967 They aren't the best places for people of God at this time, tbh. They're persecuting people and trying to commit them, their own families. I've heard it again and again online and didn't believe until it happened for me. For standing up for children on social media. These are dark times. Be there for uour loved ones, do what you can to be present with them in their time of need and obviously, go to a therapist if needed that you absolutely trust and get with well. Jmho. God's blessings to you all as by His stripes we are healed, in Jesus name.

I lost my only son last Palm Sunday. I'm sorry for your loss. I think of King David losing his young son of Uriah's wife and his son Absalom. His grief was so different in each case. Me, I just want to sit on a dung heap and lance boils with shattered pottery drrssed in ash cloth.

I'm watching this for the third time. First saw it yesterday, watched it again last night and again this morning. My heart is broken. And I keep doing something that takes me farther away from God, and I pray because I don't want to be that person, God doesn't want me to be that person. I need you, Lord.

Hi, it's going to be ok 🩷 I sometimes feel the same way, I have ptsd which I am working through. I get envious of people who have suffered less but then I remember the massive amount of blessings the Lord has also given me and I try to focus on those instead. Focus on what comes from God not from evil. The saints suffered greatly, most of them endured terrible tragedies, trauma, illnesses, torture.
Jesus, give me your heart… so I can love you more. ❤

I went to visit my dad who has depression of late. The first night there I was overwhelmed with panic attacks. I didn’t want to stay because I was so physically weak the first night I was there and I couldn’t believe I was so selfish to not fight harder, as I was so scared I’d be a burden instead of help. The more I got scared the worst the attacks came and I caved even though he begged me not to leave. 25 hours later I left. My drive home was full of regret. I was so sorry to God that I couldn’t overcome for another’s burden especially my aging dad. I was so humbled. I’m sorry Jesus I didn’t say yes to such a great need.

Thankyou for asking. I am happy to say I got him to pray again. I had a book called I believe in love a journey with Saint Therese. He said he can’t read. But I noticed when we took a walk together he repeated an entire psalm. 131 I think. My dad went to mass everyday. This started with something called insomnia so he’s obsessed about not sleeping for over a year. The medication‘s they tried were so intense now he is only on one medicine to keep his nerves calm .I think the medication‘s were making it so much worse anyway I left again like I said after 24 hours and yesterday I called him and he was much better@@arleneklyne6517

I’m in the middle of seeing myself torn down (brain injury) and trying to surrender everything to Jesus. It’s pretty awful, but the humbling is essential to the transformation God has in mind. It took me a while to realize how the uncertainty about my future is the main point. You can’t trust if you know the ending.

It makes sense now why I saw Jesus in my dream on the Feast of the Sacred Heart last year in June 20th. I had all these things in my heart and he showed my broken sorrowful and humble heart that he wished to bring to Heaven and bring joy and peace to when I was praying that night about my suffering, vocation, and doubting if God still speaks through dreams and visions after reading Mark 12.
@@LovingtheTruth856It’s a Catholic feast day where we go to Mass and worship, celebrate Jesus for his love and mercy, and God’s Love for us. It comes once a year as the Catholic liturgical calendar is always decided based on when Easter is that year.

Holy Moses! I have ALL three. Humble, contrite and broken because I have almost 2 decades of a chronic, full body pain disease, always asking for forgiveness for my past sins and brokenness since my mother left me when I was 2 yrs old and my husband is an audulter with a long term permanent girlfriend. Since I am sick and on disability I don't have many choices. I continue to give myself wholy to God and have consecrated myself to the Immaculate through Kolbe. I also find joy in my children (all boys) (12, 13 and 19) and my dogs. I thank God that I am provided a roof over my head, food, water, etc... If I was alone with my children we would have to live in city housing. So I am blessed - God has taken care of me my whole life and I LOVE HIM UNCONDITIONALLY. That is where my heart is........
P.S. Now I want to watch Braveheart again 😊❤!!!
Father Mike, I’m so grateful that I listened to this tonight. I have a loved one who served as a deacon for 30 years in Sioux Falls diocese and now he’s suffering from Alzheimer’s. It’s brought many tears and rosaries for he and my sister his wife. When I visit, I speak about his past, that way he has memories he shares. It does make me feel brokenhearted and humble. I know, God loves both of them and me so that’s why I continue to go an hour and a half away to visit them. The trip helps me say one rosary up and a rosary back, which gives me comfort and courage. God bless.
FR. MIKE IS LITERALLY THE BEST! It is so incredible as a teen to have a priest to be able to look up to! Ascension and the Hallow app are such amazing blessings to have in this day and age!
Let’s also pray for those who have broken our hearts, cause theirs where probably destroyed a long time ago 💔😞 and they just didn’t know back then, how to turn to God or didn’t have anyone around to tell them about Him, about His eternal Love and Mercy.

The kind of heart that draws and is close to the Lord:
1. Humble= honest heart. God, you are God, and I am not.
2. Contrite= sorry heart. Sorrow for one's sin. It's only by God's grace that we can say we're sorry.
3. Broken-hearted= broken heart. Broken by life, by grief, by suffering, broken by others' or even our own sins.
The truth= God loves us, and He gave His only Son Lord Jesus Christ so that we could know that love, and that love could actually save us in this life and in eternity.
So if we're broken, if we're humbled, if we're contrite, He's close to us.
Psalm 34:19 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, saves those whose spirit is crushed.
Psalm 51:19 My sacrifice, O God, is a contrite spirit;
a contrite, humbled heart, O God, you will not scorn.
AMEN. GOD never said it would be easy but HE will stay by our side with LOVE. 😘🤗💗🔥💖🕊

I agree, but during my life I've known lots of good hearted people that dont even believe in God...very many. Unfortunately sometimes among the people who classify themselves as Christians there are a lot of snobs and proud people...and they go to Church every Sunday any Church Catholic or Protestant or whatever else there is...

I was amazed looking at my own heart on the ultrasound machine screen. It just beats away for a lifetime never stopping under normal circumstances. It's so persevering and incessant to circulate and pump the blood. What does God see when He peers into my heart? Humble, contrite and broken or arrogant, stubborn and stony, it's been all. It's not what enters the body that condemns the soul but what comes out of the body that condemns the soul. What is emanating from my heart?
I don't care what anyone says about me. Whatever I can become, whatever I am remembered by... I hope the answer is easy - A good person. ❤ Because that's all that matters.

This video hits me so hard. Being on the streak of holiness in Lent and then failed, it's so painful and guilty, and you felt unworthy that I felt so distant from God (or rather I want to distance myself from God..) But God sees the contrite heart, this video comforts me so much that I feel God is telling me that He sees me, my effort and my heart. And that He is close to me, so I know I never lose His support.
