You're going to WIN. You're learning the land. Next, putting the land into Zones is ( key). The zones will dictate time spent on them. The overwhelming feeling will turn into order. Example: Monday, front porch area. Tuesday front yard cut, barn and wood pile organized. In time, some areas will need less attention, etc. Just give areas their own day, so if you miss a day, you can keep going with the schedule and pickup next week where you skipped. You got this!

Your plan sounds real good. I don’t have a big yard to maintain, but I think I will adopt this idea between front flower garden and backyard veggies garden. 😘

We try to stick to that but have not been very intentional about it. It’s definitely the way to go but we just haven’t disciplined ourselves enough to stick to it! 🤦🏾‍♂️ 🤦🏽‍♀️

🎯👏🏾👏🏾 Yes! If it was his divine plan for you to buy a home or obtain any property , there should never be a question if it was or wasn’t a good decision. Anything worthwhile that he gives to you is worth doing the hard work to maintain and thank him for your blessings DAILY! If we stand of faith & trust in God & his bountiful grace ALL things are possible, we just have to BELIEVE !The enemy likes to get in your head periodically to doubt the Lord! Job had strong faith in the Lord regardless of his circumstances, and God blessed him even more after he endured hardship and stood his ground on being faithful! Without faith it’s impossible to please God! Keep up the good work with building your beautiful home , family & property and in the future you will enjoy the fruits of your labor! God bless you and anyone who gets discouraged from time to time. We all need to encourage each other and pray for one another daily. 😊🙏🏾❤️

One great Christian farmers to watch: Living Traditions Homestead. This couple explain planting, soil, animal care and equipment. They also let you know about the errors they have made so you can do better yourself. Another RUclips channel is Garden Answer and Lumnah Acres and Sow the Land( he is learning too but makes some wise choices as he grows ). There is also Joe Salatin who has been educating new farmers and old. I hope this helps you gain more knowledge and wisdom for your God given homestead! I’m praying for your success!

Feeling overwhelmed with gardening is normal. Think about the satisfaction of driving onto your property realizing your blessing.
Buy one large perennial fern and split it into four plants. Buy several large hostas. Plant both in shady areas. If planted under trees, each will help with the weeds.
Weeding and mowing are my nemesis'.
Just remember to set aside each day to enjoy the work you have accomplished.
You both know you got this and God got you!

I totally feel what you guys are saying. My husband and i have 24.5 acres in Arkansas that's a combination of woods and pasture. The work never ends, but we also believe that God called ua to grow and raise our own food. The food system ia contaminated and we need to get back to what God created. I heard another homestead RUclipsr say that he is starting to believe that homesteading is like being a glorified landscaper. 🤣

I hope you two are still prioritizing getting to date eachother.
Getting dressed up and going out to eat, a movie night, something. Being married already can have its challenges, and taking care of this property while being married I could only imagine the journey building that momentum❤.
You both seem fine and doing well but I just wanted to say that ❤. It’s a season you’re in right now but just remember, make time for your relationship outside of all this when you can 😊

That is the most important thing, both of you give word to who, what, when, where, why and how you do what God called you to do. I thank God for you. Blessings!!!

I love love love planting Lavender and Russian Sage together. They repel mosquitoes and ticks (we live on 120 acres so that’s a great thing) plus my chickens and ducks don’t eat them up like they do every other freaking flower I buy!! But I usually plant some white petunia or other white annual flowers to fill the beds up around them and by mid-June the beds are full of white and purple buds. The Russian sage bushes get fuller year after year just like lavender!

You two are so inspiring. I needed this today. Thank you! Ben Hartman, Lean Farmer in Goshen I mentioned, is making all his own organic compost (and using only compost for fertility) from fall leaves. He gets leaves from the city of Goshen, but would drool over your access to leaves. It's cut a huge expense from his farm budget of buying compost for his market garden.
Vinegar kills soil microbes. It's great for weeds in concrete cracks, but not good for your flower beds. On flower beds, we use cardboard with 2" mulch on top added every other year (free from Chip Drop, but make sure there's no poison ivy in the mulch) - get zero weeds in my beds, only grass pressure on the edges and a flat spade on the edges every spring takes care of that.
Perennials that bloom throughout the season work nicely for 3 season color, and you can often split them and get more for free (like yarrow, asters, daisies, lupine, and hostas). Miniature azaleas, miniature lilac, and hydrangeas behind them.

Sheep or goats will sort out the weeds/growth. Also for your vegetable patch, you'll need to make sure you have flowers close by for pollination. You could sow the perimeter with wild flower seed mix, native to the area and for areas you don't want to cut, you could wild them too. So much land, so many options. Pigs for the wet/boggy areas, sheep/goats to keep large grass areas in check😊

it's also probably hard, because y'all have full time jobs, in addition to maintaining the property. Do you have plans to work full time on the property eventually?

Love watching you guys living out your purpose. Find you both so refreshing and agree with you that everything belongs to God, sometimes we lose sight of that. When I bought my home weeds became my nemesis. I found this guy on RUclips called silver cymbal. I started following his advice and there has been drastic improvements to my yard. Hopefully you guys can get some tips on handling the weeds.

Leaves are a great source of fertilizer. They make the richest and darkest soil along with grass clippings, vegetable scraps, fruit peelings etc composting.

Great view. I love the view you have. Always remember when God blesses you, he does not add sorrow to it. Yall are doing a good job managing what he has given you. Have you considered using the grass and the leaves to make your own compost? Blessings

Finger joints are how the wood is joined together if you look on the back you'll see a zig zag glue joint so they can make the lengths longer than usual.

it is too much, but that is why it is HIM! He has called you to growth and development. You two will soon have a network of helpers to assist with the grounds and with developing your orchard. Soon you will be employing people and bringing sustenance to other families. God would not have given something that would remain comfortable and stagnant. The fact that it is overwhelming is a good thing. You are about to see His hand bring you to a place of increase. Blessings to you both. This journey is an inspiration to many!

Can you both swim? Pond safety concerns. How deep is this body of water and does it require cleaning etc. Consider getting crew to do a dive and map.Would be good to have life jackets for guests at the edge for little ones in the future. ❤ from Canada.

Have you learned about permaculture? If not, then I suggest you do a course on permaculture. It will provide you all you need to know on land management, including diving your land into zones and planning various improvements on each zone. Zoning the land helps you allocate time spent on each zone. Some areas do not need much attention at all, and will thrive. But, they will still need monitoring.

Oh yeah beautiful Irises too . When they grow you can split them and plant the babies . They don’t need to be way underground either so no deep holes to dig .

It's a lot, but you can relax once you finish planting, fixing, and maintaining. We purchased a fixer-upper, and it's taking us four years to get it together. I wouldn't say I like the weed; I hate pulling them up, and they keep coming back, which is crazy. Having a home there is always something to do. #Loveyouguyschannel

You two are so much fun to watch! I love ya'll . Once you grow Zinnias and Sunflowers, they will melt your heart and they are the two things I grow each year. When you see them, they make you smile. Buy "Procut" so that you can cut and make bouquets for inside. I also like Gerbers and African Daisys.

I dont know if anyone has mentioned cardboard, but it is an AWESOME weed barrier that usually last a couple of years. If you want to plant in the bed its not as difficult to get through the cardboard as a traditional weed barrier you get from Lowes or somewhere and i think it works better. I use it in my beds by my house and ive used in a small flower bed i had for pollinators next tobmy garden. Hope that helps!!
