Hey guys! I watched many many videos over and over again and always came back to the Honda Pilot. I guess I've always been a Honda girl. I had a 1992 Honda Accord and loved it. As my family grew from 2 to 4, we went for the 2007 Honda CRV and have kept it because of its reliability and good condition after all these years (over 200,000 miles). There is wear on tear on the leather but hey, kids and almost 16 years will do that to any vehicle. We needed a vehicle that would haul our kids and their cousins and friends. So we went for the 2023 Honda Pilot Touring with added AWD and haven't regretted it one bit. We have had it since March and drove it almost 6,000 miles. I love everything but here are the things I absolutely love. The enormous interior size of the vehicle is so roomy. Adults and kids alike feel very comfortable sitting in any row; the 9" infotainment system works great. I have an android phone and it is so amazingly convenient. Our previous car did not have one so having one now is such a luxury. No need for a huge one when this one provides me with the information I need. My favorite parts of the front seats are the comfortable seats, wireless charging, everything on the steering wheel, multiple cup holders and wireless commands like text, call, weather and directions. Remember, I am coming from a 2007 Honda CRV so these features are HUGE for me. My kids are in love with the backseat and so am I. They have temperature controls and vents back there, which we did not have in CRV. Plenty of cup holders and compartments for all their toys, gizmos, etc. Love that they can each charge their iphone and tablet without having to use ours up front. The seats are wicked comfortable and huge with lots of leg room. We appreciate the ability to take the middle seat out of the 2nd row but have needed that precious space for a butt for sure. Pano moonroof gives the interior a nice airiness and lots of light. Cargo is smaller than my old CRV but it is more than enough for my family and our travels. I love the hands free and the walk away feature for the trunk. The drive itself is smooth and refined, just like you said. And I love that the steering wheel is light, considering how much driving I do. It handles beautifully. I'm glad to know that I can depend on this car to care of my family for many many years.
You’re a great example of “keep your eyes on the road”!! 👍
I'm in more awe about the removable and storable middle seat in the Pilot than I should be.
You’ll forget about that when you pay $960 to replace the timing belt, and the extra pressure on the head causes the rings to go bad.
I just picked up my Honda Pilot trail sport the other day and I was like holy shit it's so spacious and it looks more rugged than the old Pilot, it's fun to drive not disappointed at all.
How about gas consumption?
I bought a brand new 2023 Honda Pilot Sport three weeks ago. It is bigger and looks better than
previous generations. It's gas mileage is average, performance is OKish, nothing impressive. The
brake is not responsive, you have to push the brake harder to get it stopped. But, The second day,
the check engine light on. Here is the message:"Emissions system problem. Power may be reduced. See
dealer". I immediately drove it to the dealership Service Dept. But, that Service Advisor said I
did not make an appointment and has a kind of "do not care" attitude. It took me lots of efforts
and almost 5 trips, eventually, they said it a sensor issues which is in some kind of value of the
gas tank areas. They put order to replace the value and sensor. But, it has been over 15 days and no
ETA from the supplier! Plus, the driver side wiper blade simply flew away the first time I turned
it on in the heavy rain. It took three phone calls and two appointments to get the new wiper blade
installed because it need to be "ordered" also. On the left side of back window,
the bottom trim is not glued well and can easily peel off and has not fixed by the Service
Dept yet. Since 1996,I used two Honda Accord which were very reliable. and a Honda Odysessy van
which had transmission issues after 6 years. After that, I bought new Acura MDX and drove it for
over 15 years and very reliable. That is the reasons I come back to bought this 2023 Honda Pilot.
But, looks like Honda's build quality dramatically degraded. If I have choice now, I will NEVER buy
Honda cars again. First, the manufacturing quality is very bad from my experience with the brand
new Pilot, secondly, the experience with the Service dept is very bad also. Especially with the
ordering of parts, it take over 15 days , no ETA ! what's hectic ! From the Honda manufacturer to
the Service, the Honda is degrading big time. I will not recommand anybody to buy the 2023 Pilot.
The Pilot with the Toyota hybrid engine would be great.
Picking up my Highlander Hybrid later this morning 😁
pricing, state, model, im planning too lmk
I am looking for one as well. What did you pay May I ask?
@@STORIEDAMAAN I’m in Canada, so the pricing is different than yours. But I have it now and I love it!!
@@nadialascala5305 I have the platinum version and it’s in Canada, so it’s expensive lol. But I really love it….I have a lot of tech to get used to.
@Mathew Caron me too I got the ruby red flare pearl platinum and I love it I got tech I gotta get used to myself
Just picked up 2023 honda pilot trailsport absolutely love it and we're toyota loyal.
The Honda Pilot is very smooth and spacious, but I got the Highlander. You cannot go wrong either way.
I also went with the Highlander. I just love the steering and I got a hybrid
@@kimmerkt6710 Great on gas, does 35 mpg on average. Second row captains seats are very comfortable, third row bench is not so great but whoever uses it can stretch their feet on the gap between the captains seats. I got mine in April 2023. Love it! ☑
I’m a Toyota fan boy but I’m a little disappointed about the 4 cylinder turbo instead of the v6, I also love the way the Pilot looks and I have a feeling the reliability will be slightly better.
Doesn't toyota offer V6 on nonhybrid version of highlinder?
@@videos1775 Not anymore on 2023 gas models
I had the v6 hybrid in a 2013 and now a 2021 Highlander Hybrid Platinum and don't miss the V6 one bit
@@Noypi54494 I am pretty sure your Highlander has a 4 cylinder hybrid as well as the new ones
@@legendaryslayer1234
It does
The 3rd row in the highlander is not as practical as the pilot's 3rd row.
Honda is just better built regarding fit, finish with comfortable seating and smooth ride quality. You can tell a lot of thought and work went into the overall quality of the vehicle and rider experience.
Which is why typically Honda’s are more expensive than Toyota’s.
Shut it man😂😂😂
No car can ever be a better built than a Toyota
@@ibrahimbashir6634 Honda cars killed Toyota in the 90s and they still can 😂
@@waterloo123100 no they didn't and they could never
If you really do your homework on the Highlander you’d find there’s not a big enough difference in gas mileage to justify the additional cost for the hybrid. Both the Honda and Toyota are great vehicles
Please make video on Sienna vs Highlander and Pilot vs Odyssey. I understand that one is SUV another is Van but when people buy 3 row vehicle they generally compare Van with SUV.
We have the Highlander Hybrid. Excellent vehicle, and super great fuel economy.
I really like your to-the-point analysis. Thank you
Hondas timing belt and direct injection are the turning point to a Toyota dealership…Looks a lot better than the highlander
Why would they go with direct injection !??
I have Pilote 2022 EXL and I will never regret having it
I will keep my 2020 Highlander with the 3.5.
Turbos have issues or cause other issues.
I use Toyota and Honda for but I always love the Honda over a Toyota anytime any day because it has a better engine and More fun to drive than a Toyota that's my opinion
I have a 2015 Tacoma and a 2004 Honda Accord EX-L V6. Both have V6 engines with about same amount of horsepower. The Honda engine is much smoother than the Toyota. Had the timing belt and water pump changed on the Honda at 98000 miles at around 1200 dollars about 5 years ago.
Pilot is sucha great suv for what it offers but spending 55k+ on a base model with 7 inch touch screen???!! That feels like a slap on your face lol
Good comparison... I think overall I like the Honda Pilot better... mainly because of the naturally aspirated 6cyl... but also because, since I don't need a 3-row vehicle, Honda offers a 2-row version of the Pilot... the Passport... which I would buy instead... If Toyota did the same with the Highlander I would certainly be open to it, especially if it offered a hybrid option... sadly, it does not.
rav4 lol
The Venza. That’s slightly spacious than the RAV4, and it’s a hybrid.
I'm sorry but no 4-cyl engine for me, especially on an SUV. I think Toyota is going to regret it. Many still want the V6 feel and power. Getting a used 2021 or 2022 model.
Have you thought about comparing these two with the Subaru Ascent?
Highlanders are bulletproof. My 2007 Limited towed boats, had amazing visibility, and was pretty good on gas. Replaced the serp belt once and a wheel bearing. Traded it in at 300k miles still got $4500 for it
Hybrid or gas ?
they only gave you the 4500 to sell you the other car, you probably never calculated what've you over paid :))
Timing belt change after 160K 😮 that's crazy Honda on these days 😧 , HIgh lander might be a good choice but people who are six feet🐾 tall ,driver seat leg space is not enough , you can't stretch your legs inside when you drive
pilot 23 or wait for 24 grand highlander hybrid? I'm on waitlist for both ...
Whatever you want i guess
@@thepcuser5469 thanks for your constructive opinion. pc or Mac?
@@idubbz pc
Just got the 23 Pilot. Love it, but do wish it wouldn't cost so much to fill up. If the price for the hybrid is comparable to Pilot, from a costs perspective might want to consider the Grand Highlander more.
Highlander
I will go with Honda pilot❤😊
My wife drives a Highlander with the V6, looking to upgrade but will not go with the I4 Turbo or the hybrid. Guess it is time to look for another car brand/model
Timing belt is a big NO!
you know when I think about which one to buy, for me it is extremely easy to decide what to do
...cuz I got no money
Toyota makes fantastic but V6 engine is much better less wear on engine not a good buy. I’d go Honda Pilot V 6 285 horsepower and tons of space no doubt.
what is the cost difference? projected reliability?
I bought a pilot over the Toyota mostly because the Toyota was boring to drive. At least the pilot had a "sporty" funness for a large suv. But that's what it came down too.
I was checking the Honda pilot, dodge Durango and Toyota highlander which won do you think is better.
As far as reliability, the Honda Pilot is probably the most reliable three row SUV that you can buy right now. The turbo four-cylinder hybrid motor that they are using with the Highlander has no real world testing.
The Honda has a 3.5 L V6 that has been updated to make it even better than it was before, and they are using a modified Honda 10 speed automatic transmission that has been rock solid ever since it launched.
Do your homework and look into the new Toyota tundra and Toyota Tacoma reliability issues. These all new models are one of the most unreliable vehicles on the road right now. The Honda stuck with what they know works, and it’s gonna last for at least 300,000 miles if you take care of it.
At this time, it's Grand Highlander for me, but let's see once they come out, what they are all about. If the new Sequoia got better MPG and have about 12-15 more cubes of space, it would already be in my door yard, as I really like the looks of that model
@yahooskip I hope you'll find one without a huge markup. I'd like one, too, but our Phoenix area dealerships are already putting $5000 or $7500 "Market Adjustment" fee... which is ridiculous as they don't even have them in stock yet (one dealership has it on their website as "in transit"). Ticks me off. Was thinking of going to Honda, but I don't like that the Pilot has a traditional timing belt instead of a timing chain.
@@mclaybry Yeah, lucky enough that my delaler doesn't mark up to regular clients (17 New Toyotas and Counting). So I will be shown the invoice and I get to compare to the online pricing before I buy.
You can go with the Hybrid Hylander all day long but if you can't get one from one to two years what's the point? I was told not to hold my breath for a hybrid until Q2 2025 based on Toyota allocations and waiting lists. Screw Toyota, going Honda all day long, besides Turbo gas engines suck, lots of issues as they age. V6 any day of the week.
Boths vehicle are good but V6 is better which Honda vs4 cylinder turbo
Love the Red interior, but Hate the dark depressing headliner.
Looks like something Dracula would love.
For some reason Honda refuses to offer interior choices. It's black or nothing!
@@carhelpcorner Yeah, it’s disgusting.
I refused to buy a Venza last year bc the only interior colors were gloomy grey or death black.
What are your views on the VCM system in the 3.5L Pilot engine? Many problems have been reported. My wife and I were ready to purchase the Pilot until I learned about the VCM system.
Issues with VCM on the newer engines seem to be rare. I wouldn't consider it a deal breaker for what is ultimately a reliable engine.
i used to like the toyota, specially the toyota sienna but i kinda notice this highlander body style and the sienna body has a similar style, i’m going for honda pilot this time, sorry toyota
Hi can you please give me your review to new Chevrolet Groove 2023? Is it good SUV to buy? thanks in advance….
Unfortunately in Australia we don`t have access to Honda Pilot/Passport/Ridgeline or any Acura. I hate that so much! BTW Blue Pilot Trail sport would be amazing to get =(
That sucks man. I hope they bring these great cars to my Aussie brothers and sisters some day soon.
Pls compare mazda cx90 vs bonda pilot
Compare it with latest grand highlander
ALL vehicles should have tow hooks both front and rear..... get stuck sometime and you'll find out why.
Honda pilot all the way for me ✍🏾
I was checking out Skoda Kodiaq recently and it's practicality seemed amazing but this Honda Pilot did impress me just as much. Choosing which one to buy will come down to price I guess...
Pilot is the best 👌👍ever
Grangma vs Grandpa
Very old style
I'm not happy that the new Honda V6 only has direct injection and not port injection as well - and as you also pointed out, the inclusion of a timing belt in a new engine design is a real head scratcher. Having to pay close to $2,000 every 100,000 miles to replace the belt (and might as well replace the water pump while you're there, so increase that price) is a big deal for us since we keep our vehicles for 10-20 years.
I have a 2011 Chevy Malibu. I've replacd my timing chain twice. $1600 each time. My wife has a 2006 Civic with 150,000 miles. Standard maintenance. Ill go with Hondas reliability
@@R2sojr09I hear you, and I agree. Do you know whether the Civic motor uses a chain or a belt? As for the cost of the Malibu timing chain, yeah, transverse mounted engines are costly to do timing chains/belts.
Just test drove the Pilot and the interior just seemed cheap to me. Space was nice and surprised me compared to other suvs. I still think the Grand highlander is the one to beat.
Pilot already looks 10 years old
Pilot
toyotas are the best
1. better on gas
2. no turbos on some models
3. cheap on maintence
4. hybrid system is way better
5. more reliable
I miss V8s
Highlander was my choice but now it is honda.
Timing belt!!! Says it all. Garbage. Will never buy. Very expensive to replace. Can actually break at any time.
Pilot is the perfect car if it has a gear shift stick. No push buttons please.
Toyota just killed Highlander by releasing the Grand Highlander
Not for me. I don't need the extra space. I gone with the Highlander instead of the RAV4 because I liked the interior of it better
I have owned both Toyotas and Hondas and by far Toyotas are much more reliable and ages gracefully.
Honda made a mistake with direct injection and using a timing belt. It adds repair cost long term.
There is no way a Honda Pilot worth over 50K! What a waste of money. The Toyota Highlander is bargain.
Highlander. Now get off my lawn.
Always toyota is better 😂😂😂
Come on Honda 1600.00 for timing belt. Nice money grab. I will pass.
Toyota reliability all the way! To this day, Honda interiors are basic looking..the turbo 4 is amazingly fast!
Wait until you have to replace that battery $$$ lol
Not a huge deal anymore. There are aftermarket options that are reasonably price. Even then, Toyota gives you a 10 year warranty and they usually last way longer.
Toyota is boring and reliable.honda os fun and reliable ❤
I hate the Highlander 😡😡😡😡
why does he sound like computer generated speech? very mono-tone
Honda's still uses stupid timing belt. Why? Honda's need to put Timing chain. i am not buying Honda. i will buy Toyota instead.
Pathfinder v6 engine is better than these Japanese rivals.
The new pathfinder is actually surprisingly good and thank god they got rid of that AWFUL cvt
turbo engine no thanks
Highlander
