@@ConorDaly22 uuuuhhh tough question 🤔!! Well I'm actually gonna say that this Dario episode goes on pole🏆 Also in front row , just behind, the Pato episode where you went thru his career so far. Second row in third place are every McLaughlin episodes 😄 🤜🤛
Great interview with Dario he’s awesome. I was watching Indy Car back then too. Bryan Herta was my favorite. I was at Fontana speedway when Greg Moore crashed, I got emotional while Dario was speaking of him 🥺 He was amazing…they all were/are.👏👏👏
My dream off season episode is a Hoosier Day Special! Indiana’s birthday is December 11th. She turns 208 this year! Special appearances from fellow Native Hoosiers: Jack William Miller (IndyNXT), Logan Adams (USF Pro), Elliot Cox (USF 2000), and if we're feeling lucky, Tony Stewart. Chase may attend, but he has to wear a Pacers hat and display an Indiana flag in the background to compensate.
Loved the interview with Dario and am very impressed by the job you were able to do while locked out of your house. That shows dedication, although I suppose a car is your natural habitat.
Loved the Dario interview! Especially the part about the difficulties switching to NASCAR and back to IndyCar and how that made him a better IndyCar driver. This is just my perspective from the outside looking in, but I feel that way about your driving too, Conor. Although it really sucked that you weren’t able to race full time in IndyCar this year, you raced the truck series a bit, some sports cars, etc. & when you came back for the last portion of the season with Juncos it seemed you had this edge that put you on another level. I’ve always thought you are an extremely talented driver but I dunno man something about your driving after you came back was just exciting to watch. Truly hoping things work out with sponsorships and we get to see more of that next season brother.
So, the Ron Dennis Testing Contract offer was pretty crazy.. That would have made for a very long week (LOL).. And for it to have been a 7 or 8 year deal was nuts too.. Thanks again Connor for this awesome show and an amazing interview with the one day to be legend Dario.. You guys keep up the great work.. Enjoy Vegas F1.. Always cheering for you my man..
This show is so awesome! I'm so glad to hear that the search for sponsors is looking up! You should check see if State Farm would sponsor you. I work at a local agency on the Southside of Indy and would love to send you the link to the application.
I appreciate that but the sponsorship stuff has to happen at a much higher level considering the money we have to look for! It's a tough game. Also we are out of time as well
This was superb !! I'm a helmet guy and when our JJ Lehto 🇫🇮 drove one season in Champ Cars in late 90' from there I still remember Dario's helmet. Some things get stuck in the brain chambers forever 😁 To hang out with him must be always fun. So cool to hear these old stories. Thank you once again.🙌 Btw...if you know. Did Dario's era cars had similar kinda of tools ( not hybrid ofcourse 😅 )what you have now in Indycar to work with during the laps ?
Please don’t have an off season! I listen every Saturday. Future idea when racing resumes and there is an off week, let two drivers who had an issue on track come on together and explain there viewpoint or maybe fan a rivalry.
This is 100% beter than any F1 podcast!! Have you ever done a podcast with Robert Wickens? His first races in Indycar were impresive. And the difference between stiff DTM and Indycar must be a interesting topic.
Missed the gaming last night, there was a little something on the TV that had my attention. Dario would be one of my picks for Fox commentating if he could be bought from Chip. Thanks for the episode fellas.
Another great week fellas. You're looking for ideas for shows, this was great. How about more of the alumni of the sport. I would love to hear from guys from the 80's, 90's, and 2000's. I would love to hear some of the old stories today from the guys that are still around. Conor, you know one or two of those guys, right? Mears, Sullivan, Little Al, Mario and Michael, Vassar, Herta, just to name a few. There was some great racing back in the day. There has to be some great stories to go along. Not only I think it would appeal to the old farts like me, the new generation of fans get more of the historical context. And find out what they're doing today.
So pleased that you got Dario to speak of Greg. Thank you, as a Canadian and a former racer who knew Greg. Keep doing what you are doing. Here is a doc about my F2000 days: ruclips.net/video/sQwGSmqhiK8/видео.html
I miss the days of teams having a much bigger role in building cars/engines, rather than the spec car situation we have now. I also think the engines could be simplified to be made cheaper and sound better. My buddies new Corvette has an amazing engine, sounds great, and I'm pretty sure will cost much less to replace when he inevitably blows it up (he always does :) ) than a current IndyCar engine. There's no way having 2 manufacturers designing/building/controlling super high tech hybrid engine systems saves money. Worst of all, they don't add anything to the "show", at least to me anyway. In general, the cars used to be special, and now there just all the same. And that's not as fun to watch. Still a fan though! I'll watch every race that isn't behind a paywall.
In indycar at least for many many years the teams never actually built the engines or cars themselves, they assembled them yes but they still came from different manufactures. Years ago though of course we had several more makes of engines and chassis'. Right now what we have truly is a far more cost effective way of production while maintaining competition between engines but we need more of it! Also, no races next year are behind a pay wall. Every race is on Fox so very easy to find and watch!
I’m Late watching this one. Hope the sponsorship search is going well. Maybe a discussion for a winter episode by why are huge name companies like Amazon, WalMart, etc not showing up to sponsor? How bad will it be for the sport if we keep filling seats based on money and not talent?
sadly companies like that dont even let us walk in the door. it's just not a popular enough sport to get them to spend 6-8 million dollars a year. there are sooooo many ways these days to spend money on marketing. We have to make it worth their time again by growing the sport! There will always be the money seats. Even in F1 where there are less seats you still have Stroll and Zhou who are pretty useless. We are lucky to have a few seats that are filled by big money guys but those money guys are actually good drivers so it doesnt look as bad right now
Dario Franchitti is certainly an elder statesman of motor racing. In 1998, I drove his motorhome and found him to be a conceited, arrogant ass. I'm pleased that he has grown up.
The problem with engines running at 18-20k rpm is reliability - they blow themselves up. As Dario said, it was doable with separate engines for qualifying, practice and the race, but it's too expensive. The current F1 engine red-lining at about 12k rpm has no thrill to its sound, though. V8/10s running up to 16k on artificial fuel should be feasible with modern engineering.
You don't need a current F1 engine, or anything that revs to 20K. Just make a modern, rather simple, big horsepower V8 and let them go race the heck out them!
there has to be a way to do it. definitely dont need that high of RPM. Indycar right now is 12K rpm limit. I obviously do not make engines so i'm sure it is harder than we make it seem like it could be. But hopefully there is something that can be done in the future!
This show has become a staple to my weekly routine. Great show all around!
we appreciate you!
Indeed! One of the high point in week always 🎉

It would be super cool to see an interview with FP1Will. That's how i got into indycar and I think it's the same for lots of newer European fans

we have to have the hybrid element though still to get any manufacturer support
