As a fan who first found the first game at blockbuster and rented it so many times i just bought the game. This is unironically not only my favorite song but it actually tells the story of my live life too. Kiryu will always be my #1 guy. This shit is so deep and great.
One of the most interesting things about the Kiryu version is how transformative it is. The song is about a woman who still feels things for her no-good ex-husband who abandoned her, but Kiryu is clearly singing about friends he has lost. People he loved dearly and believed in, but who got caught up in the life and lost themselves.
Not quite a divorce, but this song hits way too close to home. Dealing with a nasty business with my ex, and despite the crap she's putting me through, i cry inside for the blissful days we shared, and how much i miss them. I really must be foolish.
Every human has to be that foolish man at one point in their lifes, but we can't let those beautiful memories get tarnished. Treasure those memories and keep going strong brother. I will too 🤝🏼
Stay strong brother 🫡💪✊🤝 I was in a similar situation a few years ago, and today I was just reminiscing about the beautiful days I shared with my ex too ( we ended the relationship on.. mostly good terms and promised we would stay friends because she was my best friend in the past... but we never talked again till this day... Probably because too many things went wrong ) I'm more sad that I lost her as a best friend than a girlfriend tbh but I miss her as a girlfriend too ngl after listening to this song
From what i've seen the community around this series manages to keep calm and play on. I hope it stays that way regardless of the casual new fans that are bound to keep coming in. It's great to be doing so well imo. I just hope folks remain level headed around the english voice actor for Kiryu thing. Rant over I remember taking someone's advice and playing chronologically, that means i did yakuza 0 and to my surprise the first things i did was a bowl of ramen and this song. I don't know of any song that holds so much history as this one. It's clear that someday Kiryu is going to be gone but he'll never be forgotten. Whether it's Ichiban or someone else, best be sure when someone says someone has to do something someone will answer that call.
This song is often misunderstood because it is sung by Kiryu, but it is sung from a woman's point of view. She calls her partner a stupid man and mocks herself for still loving him. However, it is a common emotion shared by both men and women, so I think it is right to listen to it from your own perspective.
Very good English translation! However, ざまあみろせいせいするわ should be "This is what you deserve! I feel relieved." But, you got "It's what I deserve. I feel relieved." in the last stanza. Which is wrong. I don't know why you made this mistake. But other translation is perfect. well done. 17 languages?! amazing. But, but, but! I read people's comments and there are still many people thinking that this song is Kiryu's perspective. No! this is a "woman's song" (Kiryu's woman's perspective.) Many western people are taking this wrongly.
i completely agree with this, but as someone who's also learning another language, i just wanna say that the correct way to say that last sentence is "Many western people are taking this wrong". other than that youre doing a very good job speaking english! oh and i think a more clear way of saying "Kiryu's woman's perspective" would be "Kiryu's singing in a woman's perspective" or "Kiryu's in a woman's perspective" i personally would recommend the first option for this situation, but either one works well keep up the good work, youre doing great!
