How to add discount coupons on the cart page in shopify?

Let's say your customers have a discount coupon and you want to apply it at the first step of the purchase. It is not possible because Shopify allows your users to apply discounts only on the checkout page.
Shopify merchants face cart abandonment, low conversion and add to cart but no sales due to this issue.
