Fantastic info beautifully explained. Look forward to leading the charge at our Village. You know, how ofter have you heard I don’t need any help. Well you know the old saying “you can lead to water but can’t make it drink” I am ok I dont need help (until it is too late). Well it was for these friends. And I bet you know someone like that too! MAYBE A FAMILY MEMBER OR EVEN A NEIGHBOUR. Don’t just sit there do something RIGHT NOW! Having lost friends in very sad circumstances “I am too young to think about help yet!” Both were gone most unexpectedly - one late 50’s & one early 60’s- it happens - so follow this info above & be prepared. Both would have survived a lot longer if only they had sought help earlier.
Thank you very much - so clearly and thoroughly explained. Answered many of my concerns about home care packages. I now feel more confident about applying for an appropriate package. Very grateful for this information.
Jim, you did not mention that with ordering in meals, your aged care package pays for 70% of the cost, which would free up considerably more money for your use for other services.
I only order LitenEasy around every 8 weeks to save for items I need. At present I need a mobility scooter however, the one I want costs just over $5,000 as I need one that has suspension to lessen the bumps on footpaths as this would impact my chronic pain levels. I also requested ( with Dr's, Physiotherapist addressing my need for a double bed. The King Single with a foam mattress was dangerous as the mattress was not supported with mattress rails and literally moved in that the mattress had to be pushed back into place each morning. I got the Double bed with a spring mattress which is apparently quite rare for a client to get. I don't see why any client cannot have a double bed even, like myself, live on my own.
I have a package, and am currently in hospital. I have been advised I need significant changes in my retirement village home yard for safety. I’m considered a high falls risk, and have been told my rear courtyard is too uneven and a safe path needs to be installed as well as a hand rail in the front beside a sloping path. I doubt My aged care does this …
Question: my neighbour’s daughter has just had surgery for a brain tumour but because she’s only in her 50’s she’s unable to access any government assistance, why?

Actually, you can use you're home care package funding to pay for home modifications, which includes making outdoor areas safer. Kind regards, Jim.
@@villagelocal thank you.
