Hope you guys enjoyed this one. I didn't include reps and sets in the workout summary but we did around 3-4 sets for each exercise, with rep ranges around 8-12. Generally speaking the number of sets you do is really dependant upon a number of factors - the time you have available to train, your training experience, training frequency, and so on. Any feedback is welcome. We've decided to do a leg day and pull day so keep an eye out for them..
Hey Mike people always talk about the reps and sets. But how about the rest time between each set?
Mike Thurston Great video as always, i like the new animations that show the working muscles. love the music.
Keep up the great work!
big ups from Holland!
Mikkel D again, very dependant upon how intense the previous set was. I would say rest enough so that you can go into the next set at the same level of intensity or higher
Hey Mike, in general do you prefer a pyramid style across sets, or a reverse pyramid with heaviest weights first?
Mike Thurston should I do this routine like(push.pull.legs)and 1 day rest and repeat...!
Thanks for showing us what muscles each exercise hits!!
Agree. Love that touch.
Yes.
The bromance is real
Will Stueve yeah bro its pretty nasty
Excellent job showing the muscle group visually on the side! Please continue with this as default in your videos.
Always strikes me just how focused and serious Mike is about maintaining perfect form for every exercise he’s doing. Keep up the awesome work!
Been watching since you had less than 20k subs, didn't even notice till today you've got over 300k, you've blown up!
Best fitness channel on youtube without a doubt, straight to the point and always such good content - you'll be hitting a mill in no time. Should be super proud of what you've done and the vids are only getting better, keep them coming!

I will try that superset now! It looks brutal indeed!
Top vid Mike. I like this style of video. Some interesting variations !
Holy, seems brutal. Definitely gonna include some of that exercises!
Thanks mike! Fantastic as always!
some fresh ideas for the next shoulder workout =)
You are god damn beasts! And this video is very informative!! I love how you display the "affected" body parts in the right corner.
I hope that one day I will get at least close to your "level", if not on your level. Even if it's gonna take me a decade. I've been grinding for almost a 1 year so far and I'm not satisffied with my results at all... guess I gotta eat even more.. I gotta say I hate that 60-70% of muscles is built in kitchen and the 30-40% is in the gym and proper rest. I would switch it around, as I hate constantly eating to hit my caloric intake and macros :-(
Keep it up Mike and Justin! You are truly an inspiration to a lot of people including me.
Great diagram of the different body parts
Nice vid! Loving this style of edits with info! 👍
It's hard to argue with guys who have such a physique, debating if the exercises they do are truly effective in hitting the muscles in the best way possible or not. But even Arnold was doing certain exercises that people now rightfully avoid doing. So, if someone with great muscular development is doing several different exercises to hit one muscle, it is still plausible in my opinion that only one or two of those exercises hit the muscle in the most effective way, and some of the others leave something to be desired and might as well be scrapped, in favor of doing more sets of the optimally effective exercises. For example, with incline dumbbell presses, people try to hit the upper chest, but if you drew a line downwards from where you raise the dumbbells to, it would be on the level of your chin. There are no pecs at that level. When doing flat bench DB presses, the upper chest is already hit plenty. It would actually be more advantageous to include decline DB presses than to include incline presses, when you look at the way the pecs work and how the muscle fibers are aligned.
There is a very experienced bodybuilder called Doug Brignole that experimented with only doing incline DB presses in preparation for a show, trying to see how good they are for chest development, and not only did he have bad development in the upper chest, his entire chest looked worse than usual. He concluded that this is one exercise that could (or maybe should?) be scrapped, despite its popularity. He is getting far better results with decline dumbbell presses and with extreme decline cable cross-overs (very similar to a dipping movement, but with cables). Dips with a fixed hand position are neither a good exercise for the triceps (since the forearm is mostly neutral = parallel with resistance, which makes it an ineffective operating lever for the triceps) nor for the chest, as you can't bring the operating levers (the humerus) directly away from, and then directly toward, the Pectoral origins. The guy has posted a couple very insightful articles on the Labrada Blog website for example, if you want to know more. He is one of the few people who scrutinize and question each and every exercise, even those that are an absolute staple for most people. He finds the most effective exercise for each muscle with maybe one variant, or two at most, and then just does enough sets of those. I am training in a similar way now and i'm getting good results, although still far from your guys' physique. That's why i say, it's hard to argue with guys that have the proof on their body, however, it's still entirely possible that some exercises you do are too ineffective and just a waste of time and effort, compared to more ideal variants.
Yes, Doug Brignole all the way! Such a wealth of knowledge, do check him out!
You guys are way too fucking good looking #nohomo
Gonna try out the Cuban Press, looks crazy good
awesome vid, didnt realize how strong you were on bench though damn. thx for the workout gonna put some of these exercises in my routine

Amazing workout
Even though my ideal physique is probably what you both brought to that show years back. I remember seeing the Fit Media video coverage of that event not long after I got into training. & now you guys are fucking 10x bigger so its nice to see your progression. Inspirational. P.s Justin upload! you made a return video then left youtube lmaoo?
The return of the ghost 😂
Great workout guys! Keep it up. Just subbed him. 👍🏻❤️😊😍
Love your videos man ..
I'm 5'11 95.9 kg in weight and aged 20. I've been going to the gym for two months. I've had drastic strength improvements but no aesthetic improvements. My bench had gone from 40kg to 80kg, tricep pulldowns are now 28kg from 16kg, barbell curl has gone from 20kg to 40kg and dumbbell curl from 12.5 to 20kg. All weight I manage 10 reps consistently and I'm still seeing improvements but I don't see any aesthetic improvements at all. I take a multivitamin twice a day and have a protein shake twice a day. Why am I seeing such drastic strength changes but no actual physical changes aesthetically, it's causing demotivation and making me not want to go anymore. Only aesthetic changes have been my arms
Great video as usual 💪🏾. P.s I love how you know about the UK music scene 😂😂💪🏾. What was that fredo song .
A bit late but if you still wanna know it's pg tips
chest goals
Leeeearrrrrnin somtn new
Man. Britain is exploding with fitness models! Shaun, Rob, Ryan... damn we need a full british collab!
The sequence of this workout was all over the place: shoulders > chest > shoulders > triceps > chest > triceps.
Wouldn't it be better to group each muscle and do something like chest > shoulders > triceps
And why would that be better? There's no right or wrong way to do it.
Mike Thurston I'm asking as an amateur really, just wanted your take on it. I just figured that the bigger muscles like chest would be "better" to do when fresh and also in my experience I noticed that triceps can still perform optimally when being done last. If I put shoulders last they'd struggle. At the end of the day it is bodybuilding I guess so you could always prioritise a particular muscle or exercise.
Good video mate well edited
You guys are crazy
hey mike please make a video on bench press
Nice video Mike, its going to be nasty today.
Great vid lads

It's always good for us mortals when you admit to an exercise being brutal. It is indeed all relative.
