Here is the live acoustic rehearsal from our Stageit.com performance with Phillip Phillips recorded prior to the live stream that helped raise a substantial amount of money for the Red Cross and The Siller Foundation to aid victims of Hurricane Sandy. All of us involved feel incredibly blessed to have been part of this project to help our local community, that was literally devastated by the storm, get back on its feet.
In this video, the PS22 Chorus joins Phillip on his new single,"Gone Gone Gone," from his upcoming album due in stores on Monday! We're rather proud of how amazing the kids did learning this song (and Phillip's amazing version of "Thriller" -- video coming soon) in only one rehearsal prior to the event! And we at PS22 can't say enough good things about Phillip himself -- truly one of our most gracious, kid-friendly, good-hearted, and certainly best-dressed guests! ;)

I love how the kids are moving they totally "feel" the music, its beautiful children so young can really express the deepest spirit of music.

I know! I wish we could have done that in chorus as kids. We had to sit or stand like statues. I think being able to move as you want, feeling the music, it makes you sing better as well!
Carrie Carden When I was in Primary School the only choir we had was a Catholic one, and she'd always make us stand perfectly straight (so much so that a friend of mine actually fainted once). And any songs that made us want to dance they would discourage us from singing haha

It's so beautiful how Phillip seems so happy to be there and is so into the kids and they respond right back to him. Everyone is all smiles :-) The way they sing this song almost makes me cry, its like listening to angels sing, its so beautiful. He is an amazing man, so real and pure. He isn't faking this, he really means it and is having fun and wants these kids to have fun too and forget for a little bit about the tragedy thats outside that room.

This teacher deserves a Pulitzer Prize. He has done amazing things for these kids. Their lives will be changed forever. I'm sure there will be some famous singers that will come from the doors this teacher has opened for these kids. You can see the talent and confidence pouring out of each one of these kids. I can't say enough good things about the teacher and the kids that had the opportunity to be in his choir. I love listening to each video over and over again. I'm impressed there are so many famous musicians getting in on the action. They are shaping these kids lives too.
What an amazing video! If people did these things more often the world would be a so much better place. Look how into the song these kids are into it. Phillip Phillips is a great guy. He's done songs like this before where he allows the kids to sing and play instruments

This is all kind of awesome !
The song is beautiful and touching, those kids are doing an amazing job on it and Phillip is just a role model and a true inspiration with his background story (he grew up with huge kidney stones problems and was in horrible pain during American Idol and got 8 surgeries to remove the stones at the time).
This guy is so humble, nice and absolutely down to earth and talented.
My fave musical artist and discovery of 2012 bar none.

PS 22 is really incredible. The choir teachers, the kids, the performances with recording artists. My mom (RIP) was a chorale instructor blues and jazz singer and pianist at the HS for Music and Art and then studied at Oberlin Conservatory before getting on the Columbia label in NYC. Who can I talk to about setting up a scholarship fund in her name for your school as her legacy? Please advise, so I can get this established and work with you to design the criteria. Thank you! You and the kids are so amazing.

Agreed! But I think the beauty of this video (and other PS22 artist collaboration videos ) is that Phillip obviously left equally inspired by the visit. It's not every (any??) public elementary school chorus that can bring such musicality to its performances. These kids are sublime - pitch-perfect with tight harmonies & beautiful energy. Anyone who follows their videos knows it's not dumb luck that brings brilliant artists (like Phillip) flocking to make music w/ them....
