Red Center Nats is a new event for us and one that definitely did not disappoint. We saw so many cool cars we don't get here in the US and this Commodore owned by Jekyl and Hyde definitely caught our eye, with an engine bay cleaner than most show cars we knew this thing was ready to throw down!

For those overseas wondering it's a 86/87 Holden Commodore (gm) this particular one is the Calais variant, level 3 trim package from memory 👍
Kyle next u should do a feature on a ba/bf/fg/fg-x falcon xr6 turbo ,your mind will be blown from how hard these things go.
My fg xr6ts makes 358kw (480whp) 775nms torque (571ft lbs) , should be good for mid 11s ,nothing crazy it's my daily so keeping it at a safe level (stock driveline) ,stick shift too 👍👌
Not saying to check mine out but there's a few in the 7s n 8s that are definitely worthy of 1320 👌

its a clean VL for sure.. But It was special to us Aussies because it come with a Nissan RB30T motor. Then in aus in the 90s before billet blocks were a thing people were bolting rb25 twin cam heads onto rb30 blocks with forged bottom end and running 9s in a Aussie street car.. (we have strict rules to keep a car registered and street driven)
Tuff fucken car, but still, a billet rb30 with all the fruit would turn alot more aussies on

Awesome. Gm Australia( Holden ), Toyota, and ford all exchanged cars/ engines. I assume they do it in the USA as well??
We had the Nissan rb30 in the vl commodore, ford sold the Nissan patrol as the ford maverick, and ford and Nissan partnered on the pintara/corsair.
Gm Australia also had a “badge sharing” deal. Where the Holden commodore was rebadged and sold as the Toyota lexcen.
Holden and Isuzu also had a deal with the rodeo and I am sure that there are more deals I can’t remember.
Now no one makes cars down here anymore! 😢😢😢

Australias vehicle modification laws are assuming (just like pretty much everything in Australia), but Australians are always happy to lay back and submit fully to their government as directed so I guess that’s the way it is.

PS. Your caprice (which everyone over there can’t get enough of) is a left hand drive Australian made Commodore rebadged. Also the later Pontiac SS.

Have to really do it for the love not being able to drive a modified car on the roads. What a terrible place!! Good people, beautiful land, but to be overly policed like that would suck. I cant imagine not being able to drive my modified cars.
You can drive modified cars on the road lmao, our restrictions on the work done are just a lot higher which just leads to higher quality builds usually. This VL is a street driven car.
Plenty of street cars over here run 7' and 6 second 1/4 mile times. Not sure how modified you want your car to be?
Yeah it's not that bad here, I drive my 540hp falcon xr6 turbo everyday no dramas.
With heavily modded cars u just have to go through engineering.
My car falls under owner certified modification so basic stuff like intercooler upgrades, exhaust, intakes etc. Wheels, bodykits, tunes etc.
The trick is to do some things in way that looks factory like upgraded turbos for e.g.
The other trick is to not drive like a tool everywhere and they usually leave u alone, I've been pulled over once in 10 yrs and only for an rbt (random breath test) but I am 41 so lol, young people do get hassled a bit though ,they don't book u unless you've done something wrong, it's usually just cops throwing their weight around, "Oh those wheels are too big" they're within legality sir, "Oh oh oh oh" and then they let u go ,it's just straight harassment.
Those laws just cause innovation, better products and better engineered cars .

1800hp on dual 45s, I don't think so.
Be closer to 1500 wheel to go 7.50s in that chassis ,car was limited to 8.0s this event due to tech.
1800s a bit of stretch ,that'd be closer to 7.20s or lower, vls only need around the 1950 mark to go 6s being they're quite light (roughly 1300kgs)

It sucks that the Australian's don't have many 2 door cars to choose from unless it is a Ute because when you start out with a 4 door car that is just extra unnecessary weight that they have to work with and you can only get but so much weight cut out of a car to begin with much less starting out with a 4 door car but in cases like with the VL he can load up his family or friends and go for a cruise and then he can take it to the track and race it so that's cool but at 3800lbs that is an insane amount of weight to start out with then you got to add the cage and all that so you might as well start out with a Challenger or a Charger in his case since both cars are 4 door but I've seen both Chargers and Challengers and now VL's run mid 7s and faster if you put them on a massive diet

Well 2015 gen 5 Camaro was designed by Michael Simcoe Australian Holden designer and uses the Australian Holden designed Zeta chassis platform lol...
