Wow after my dad passed away from live disease and i just thought about how serious after him having struggled a lot. They need more doctors that show compassion for patients. This isnt easy on anyone
Watching this and not all of us drank. I had Fatty liver, turned to NASH, then cirrhosis. People say to me all they o didn't even know you drank. People have the misconceptions about liver disease. It's sad.
Some of the videos that are online blame alcohol entirely for the failing liver but it depends on genetics and the type of medication‘s they have taken during their addiction. Everyone should get a fighting chance. We all make mistakes. And most people who get a second chance contribute greatly to society to show their appreciation.
Thank you so much for the encouraging words from a family member of a 38 yo female who is at end of life dt esld. She is going to university of Kentucky this Tues for a consult for a liver transplant, they do not discriminate there.
This is so slanted. There are thousands of people who get a transplant that haven’t drank a drop. Many many diseases lead to cirrhosis. This video needs qualified to state tough questions for transplant in ALCOHOLIC liver transplant.
Totally ridiculous I had a transplant 10 months ago autoimmune my brother had same disease i was on transplant list for 15 months in all my years of seeing my professor meeting many people waiting for transplant never met one person who's transplant was because of alcohol THIS IS THE NUMBER Four reason for liver transplant number 1 now is fatty liver then the autoimmune disorders like mine met one young girl who went into cirrhosis at the age of 20 never had a drink in her life
You're absolutely correct! Reading these responses to your comment are devastating. My ex-husband will "qualify" at age 62 after being a violent alcoholic until just 3 months ago. AND he's thinks he's "winning" his doctor isn't making him go to required 6 months of AA meetings. He believes, again, that he's "special". He went to a total of THREE of meetings over four years ago after he nearly died & I stayed by his side for two weeks while he was in a coma. THREE meetings 4 years ago, and he "decided it wasn't" for him, and he just kept on drinking (he hasn't worked since 2001, bc it interfered with his drinking career). Do these doctors even know the wreckage these ppl have wrought upon their families? None of our four kids will even speak to him. His best friends are ladies who work at the pharmacy. He bakes them banana bread. They're KEEPING these precious donor livers from ppl who really deserve them. I bet my comment gets deIeted.
Sorry VCU, MCV, An BON SECURE ALL IN VIRGINIA refused. Heading to Florida hopefully they will help without a 6 month sobriety wait. He doesn't have that time.

What if they have a living donor? Now there shouldn’t be any conflict.
What a lier! They just refused my 24yr old on last week with a meld score of 39!!!! And said no because he drank!
