    The fact that Chris Paul's career playoff stats are arguably better than John Stockton's, Isiah Thomas's and Jason Kidd's says a lot... 20 ppg, 5 rebounds, 8.3 assists, 1.9 steals on 48.4% from the field, 37.3% from 3, 85% from the line, and 58% true shooting% (Only player of that group that gets close in efficiency is Stockton except he's a 13.4ppg career playoffs scorer, so the volume is wayyyy off) sort of proves it for me. Let alone that clutch shooting stat you gave, as well as how he's handled all of the unfavorable situations he's been in and how he's impacted team culture where he's been (especially on the Suns and OKC, which has been praised to no end by D-Book and SGA especially) really makes me consider putting him in my top 25 players ever. I still think he''s my number 4 point guard behind Magic, Steph, and Zeke, (Zeke because the two championships do matter and their stats are otherwise very similar), but beyond that, there's barely an argument for any other PG above him in my opinion.

    Chris Paul is one of the biggest victims of winning bias. When I say winning bias, I’m not even talking about “he didn’t win so he can’t be this good” but more manufacturing narratives to explain why a player didn’t win.
    To me he’s a top 20 player ever, somewhere near #20-18. The 4th greatest PG ever behind Magic, Steph, and Oscar. (I consider West a SG, if I counted him as a PG he’d be above CP3 though).
    Also, 8:14 “island of misfit toys offense” is one of the best phrases I’ve heard in a while. Great video.

    So so so underrated. Elite passer, elite mid range shooter, good finisher, elite defender. Like why tf is he in Johnny t Stockton convos????
    And one thing about rondo is that I think hes the best tough shot mid range taker ever with his only real argument being kobe. The amount of mid range shot he makes over bigs or contest is insanity. Its so effortless amd smooth.
    The most underrated part about him is his leadership and mentality. That nigga is extremely strong minded, loves to win/compete, plays his heart out every time I see him, and is a certified leader.
    He's top 3 most underrated player oat easily behind Jerry West and Rick Barry.

  • @user-nu7on8ob4m
    @user-nu7on8ob4m 17 дней назад +4

    There's a myth in sports, and the NBA in particular, that as long as you have the talent and put in the work, success is inevitable. You just have to hang in there and it will come. So if you don't win, its on you. You're overrated, or a choker, or lazy, or a bad teammate.
    Then we look at Paul, and none of those labels fit. Any statistical or critical appreciation of his game tells you he's elite. His work ethic is beyond question. People say he's difficult to play with, yet there's a small army of former teammates who revere him and cannot say enough good things about him. Paul isn't perfect, and there are holes in his game and mentality, but none of them are crippling enough to label him a loser, or choker.
    The truth is that no matter how talented or hard working you are, your future is not yours to control. Your teammates matter. Your coaching matters, Your opponents matter. Injuries, match ups and freakish bad luck can all torpedo your chances.There is only so much one man do, no matter how skillful or clever he is. The lesson to learn from Paul's career is that you can be an all time great, but you need the right ecosystem to win a chip. Paul has never been in the right place, at the right time, with the right people.

      @@thesocratescamden He doesn't get criticized as much as them, because they have had far worse meltdowns in the playoffs than him. It's that simple. For every bad CP3 playoff game, James and Russ have 3 or 4, and they've played with far better talent than Chris.

      @thesocratescamden 16 дней назад +1

      @user-nu7on8ob4m Bro, Chris Paul has five blown 2-0 leads and has a blown 3-1 lead vs. Harden.
      Harden and Russ have beaten CP3 on their own teams and even beat him together. Both Harden and Russ has been deeper into the playoffs more times than CP3 respectfully. The only reason you probably dont realize this is because of the media favoritism CP3 gets and how much they downplay Harden and Russ.

    Heres the main issue about the perception on Paul. A lot of these kids think his prime was like 2016-2020. When in reality it was like 08-12. His best years were on the Hornets. By the Rockets he was already on the decline and by the Suns he was looking old. Maybe if he had been able to hook up with Kobe and and Bynum or Kobe and Heard as Kobe, Paul, and Howard was the plan. Of course Dan Gilbert and Mark Cuban got butthurt and complained and David Stern squashed the trade. Which was ridiculous. The Hornets GM was trying to do right by his team in that trade. It wasnt as bad as LeBron and Bosh going to Miami or even the Gasol trade a few years earlier. Now the Gasol trade was a real coup for the Lakers. Anyway what might have been. Prime Paul and Kobe and Howard... Paul might have been able to make Howard work much better than old man Nash and Phil Jackson was going to come back and coach for the Lakers if that trade went through...

    But CP3 has good playoff numbers. Like almost great even. But somehow it just never works out for him. Like I can't even think of too many bad playoff games from his, but somehow someway when the buzzer sounds he's on the losing end.

    I get it, Paul’s narrative is toxic now and he is a great player. That said this video overstates his career. Jason Kidd rightfully points to Stockton as the all time best point guard. Below the radar in Utah, he has 3,000 more assists than #2 Kidd and 5,000 more than Magic. all time steal leader and a very clutch shooter. It’s a crime he is not mentioned with Nash and the other guys. As far as pick and roll against drop, I would take Luka over peak Paul any day. Difference is Luka can go in and bury top defenses at home in elimination games. Luka can steal a very good team’s soul (see PHX and Minn), and Paul, not so much. Luka was the cause of Utah giving up on Rudy and Paul’s Suns giving up on their number one pick center because he killed both teams very good drop coverage. Teams literally were embarrassed into rebuilding their rosters because of Luka attacking their drop coverage.

    You can’t just say he got injured and talk about how good he is when he plays. Makes no sense whatsoever.

      Getting injured is not a valid excuse? Yet y’all love to use it for any player y’all love when they don’t perform. If I uries is your only issue with cp3 the you don’t have a credible argument. You cannot use something outside of someone’s control as an argument against their greatness. THATS what makes no sense. Durability is an issue for him but that’s where the convo on that ends. What else do u say about that? How tf do u do a deep dive on a man having bad hamstrings? Y’all want to find a reason to burn that man’s legacy sooo bad. And it’s dumb

  • @mikeybarboza3086
    @mikeybarboza3086 16 дней назад

    Bro you are the ultimate excuse machine for Chris Paul. Your blaming role players for HIS teams failures? Your excusing his injuries which are his responsibility? Heavy is the head that wears the crown. When you’re the best player/highest paid player on pretty much every team he’s failed with YOU TAKE THE BLAME, period, end of discussion. CP3 is a great player but you can be two things at the same time and he’s also a failure in the postseason WHEN YOUR LEGACY IS DEFINED. The regular szn accolades are cool but they don’t mean shit unless you back them up with postseason success. He’s a choke artist when it counts the most, he’s always getting hurt in the playoffs or right as the postseason is about to begin, he’s unreliable in that aspect. STOP with the excuses he is what his history says he is a great regular szn player but can’t lead his team in the playoffs. You can find all tge random stats you want but it’s the eye test and what he’s actually never achieved that matters most.

      Plz give ANY player in nba history in every single playoff game they play in their career. Role players that shoot less than 30% and play terrible defense and let’s see how many championships they win . It is a TEAM sport no one great player can trump a bad team.

    CP3 was great but not a top-5 PG ever. Not even better than Russ. Couldn’t win as a #1 and always had incredible supporting casts (Lob city, 08 Hornets). Playoff chokes each year from 2013-16 mostly as a result of his poor play (OKC G5, Rockets G6-7). His advanced metrics and efficiency stats overstate his contribution to winning and his former teammates have called out his selfishness, yet he doesn’t get the same bad wrap that better players like Harden did for “not playing winning ball” or having poor leadership. Jason Kidd is way better
