I come back to this scene often. Mags presented one of the greatest antagonists of the series, between Mags and Boyd this is what made Justified the greatest show on screen. Beautiful performances.
Mags was easily one of the most important characters of the entire series. And she is so perfect for her role. She can command a scene without over acting. Her performance leaves a memory even if she herself does not. I bet she has been a great mother in real life.
I don't know. Season 2 is great because of the Bennett storyline, but Season 3 was so much fun with Quarrels, and Season 4 with the Drew Thompson mystery, and then Season 6 with the Markham showdown. I just don't know...too much great came from this series! It's one of those that you wished never ended but you're glad it ended when it did!
"It was already in the glass, not in the jar" Mags was my second favorite antagonist next to Boyd. She was so well written and Ms Martindale was perfect for the role.
I like to think she remembers her conversation with Helen about ending the fight between their families too. I never thought she'd actually poison Raylan out of pure respect.
Quite possibly one of the most underrated actresses in American culture. Brilliant and menacing in almost everything she does. Mags and the Bennets were a great bunch of characters in the Justified universe and everyone played their part to absolute perfection.
A great cop show requires great bad guys, and Justified had some of the best. the Bennett boys, Wynn Duffy, Nicki Augustine, Arlo, Robert Quarles, Limehouse, and of course, Boyd Crowder. And Margo just killed it in every scene she was ever in. God I loved this show.
Part of what I liked is the complexity and variety of the bad guys. Limehouse and Quarles are both criminals, but...I mean, give me Limehouse every day, you know?
Got damn, this show was so good. Dialogue, story, pacing, cast, music, oh my. The younger folk may not realize it, but it is a rare thing indeed to have a show be this f'n good from the first episode to the final one. A lot of shows start off hot for the first few seasons, and then they fizzle out. Justafied didn't drag on too long, and it didn't rush to finish. There was never, and I mean never, a bad episode. There wasn't one episode that didn't drive the story forward. Even with all the sub-plots orbiting around the central story, Justified never got off track or lost sight of itself. Loose ends? Not one. Everything was buttoned up, and you got that wonderful satisfaction that comes once in a blue moon. Justified achieved something that all shows should aspire to obtain. Perfection. If you haven't watched this show, please go and check it out. You will not be disappointed. The only thing you will be is sad when you realize it has to end.
I loved that no matter how adversarial their relationship was Rylan always treated Mags respectfully and appeared to try and put her best interest at heart when he spoke to her. Maybe that's why she chose to end her life in his presence. To, in some way pay, him back for all the kindness her offered her. Raylan was a Givens but Mags could see he wasn't part of the feud that existed between her and his kin. I think she really cared for Loretta and knew that Raylan would take care of her.
Am from Ethiopia and & Mags Bennett is one of my best characters in history of TV. That tells you what kind of excellent writing this is, they created a character as universal and as relatable from Kentucky to Ethiopia. 👌👌👌
Boardwalk Empire is a lot of fun (very heavy on nudity and sex, though), and more recently, Succession is amazing. Also, a good overlooked show is Chuck.
i wanna go home 😢 but, there's no going back. that place, was a field of clover so sweet you could eat it & so soft to lay in and we would walk the creek searching for crawdads & mudpuppies. buttermilk soaked cornbread & jowl bacon to start the day catching fireflies at night while the grown folks sat on the porch hardly saying a word.
The thing about this moment...you don't know if Mags is MORE homicidal or suicidal. Probably both. Ultimately, with the 2 kids she mostly cared about dying, and what she did to Loretta, she was primarily suicidal. But when this came out, it wasn''t clear that Raylan wasn't being given a fatal dose.
She could have just as easily taken them both out. She clearly had more cups lines with poison but she specifically took one from below the Cunard and one upside down above the table.
true detective s1, fargo s1, mr robot S4-5 beats it the shield S5 and S7 (the final 4 eps beats anything in this season of justified) attack on titan S3, Person of interest S3, Bojack horseman season 6, Narcos S1 and S2, 12 monkeys S3 and S4 ALL beat this season
She could have ended Raylan just as easily, but she knew her ambitions were over and she wasn't petty. Maybe the best "Girl Boss" character ever made. Ruthless, strong, intelligent, even noble. Just a great character, also a great feminist character if you give a crap about that.
This is what people don't understand. This is the clash of two different rules. Harlan's and The law. they all might be criminals but they all follow the rule of Harlan. Remember, Loretta said she teamed up with Boyd towards the end. and reminded him he is an upstanding member of Harlan.
Wrong. She wasn't eyeing it to be sure which one it was. The one with the poison already in it is the one she kept sitting upright in the lower cabinet that she took out and kept in her left hand, then set in front of her. The glass she gave Raylan was the one kept upside down on the shelf to keep the inside clean that she had in her right hand and set in front of him. She was just pausing for her "this is it" moment to think about how what she was about to do to herself was what she had done to so many others and to make her final decision to end herself.
@@shadopard7527 No. If you listen at the end she reassured Raylan that the poison was just in the glass not the jar so he didn't have to worry, and then said "Put an end to my troubles. Get to see my boys. Get to know the mystery.", because her family was nearly all dead or all would be soon when the last one went in to prison (because he couldn't survive in there) and she wanted to see heaven and the mystery of what comes next since there was nothing left for her here on earth.
