One issue I have you with explanation of this is how you're framing all of it as "good for Gamestop". No matter how much anyone might love seeing hedge funds take a loss (Including myself), the stock is only being artificially raised and the company is still almost certainly going to fold. These smaller retail investors are going up against the big dogs, but they're doing it for themselves, NOT for GameStop. They might have a personal affinity for the brand, but they're not saving it.
Thanks a lot for the great video, I really enjoyed watching it. To me, the only perspective that is missing is how the extreme overvaluation of GameStop led to irrational bounding of capital in its stock that could have been allocated to more efficient companies. It thereby messes up the whole (admittedly somewhat utopian) idea of the stock market being a means to distribute capital in an efficient way. I am definitely not a fan of short-selling but deliberately inflating stock prices is just as bad in my opinion.
Thanks for the easy to understand explanation. I can’t imagine investing in GameStop though. The company just rubs me the wrong way. Hopefully they use the money to improve their business.
I had heard snippets about this situation, but I didn't really understand what was going on. Thanks for explaining it to a financial dummy such as myself :)
Oh thank God for this video, I was so confused about what happening and everyone was using too many technical words. This video was incredibly helpful because you explain in like laymen terms so I could understand it. Thank you! ❤️
Thank you for explaining this! I thought you explained it very well for someone like me who knows some about investing but not clued into everything that was going on. Much appreciated!
It seems NO ONE has read Robin Hood’s terms of service. Yes what they did sucked but by using their app you accepted the agreement. The agreement states they can halt trading on any stock(s), at any time, for any reason.
.. as Melvin Capital does not have the funds to pay for the shares it is legally required to buy. . when people sell there shares to Melvin Capital they may not get any money for them. so before robin hood can buy any more stock on your behalf. - robin hood and there clearing house has to give liquid assets at moment of sale (was 2% now is 10% because of risk) so until robin hood (+ there clearing house) are able to produce the liquid funds they can not buy any more of that stock. robin hood is still able to sell stock to different clearing house who does have the liquid funds available basically robing hood needs to get more liquid cash flow , before it is aloud to buy anymore gamestop shares
Explained it pretty well. Yeah, what Robinhood and some other platforms did, they stop allowing buyers to buy the stock and only allowed to sell is flat out wrong and that's is called manipulating the market! Buyers and Sellers determine the value of the stock ... not the broker. There are laws against that happening! *Somebody or more, that is whoever pushed the stop of buying needs to go to jail!* That includes those who followed those orders ... the brokers. I too notice the drop to a 1 star and then the next it went to 3.4 stars. LOL ... at this moment it's back down to 1 star. Of course, we all know the government is corrupt ... how far its corrupt depends on high and where this order came from. I have a feeling justice will not be served ... the government wants to control everything ... and they want your money ...
In a high level explanation i would have liked you to also tell your viewers the reason for why robinhood closed the purchase. There is enough legitimate ground to criticize them over, why leave this point open to be interpreted wrong instead of clarifying.
I still don't get it. If you robinhood lock the buy stock to other people and let their millionaire friends to get in how can robinhood friends earn money since it will not go up?
I found it pretty helpful but you didn't explain a Margin Call, which I know factors into it. If you want to know who controls the US, this is the only story you need to know since November.
So if the super rich start losing money in their investments they simply get investment platforms to manipulate the price. How much did Robinhood profit from this deal. Guaranteed a back alley payment was made. Do you think Robin Hood is going to put their credibility down the drain without getting paid large somehow?
With all your respect, most of you doing videos on youtube are not really knowledgeable of what's going on. You and most in here didn't go in details about the short squeeze. I was able to find these details on an article on Reddit. You explained it well, but didn't go far on the squeeze. Thanks
What are your thoughts on this whole thing?
I have confirmed my hate for the stock market

Very well said!!! Thanks!!!
I really wanna make money and you gave me hope :v

This was actually the only video that has helped me understand what is going on. Thanks!

Thanks for the easy to understand explanation. I can’t imagine investing in GameStop though. The company just rubs me the wrong way. Hopefully they use the money to improve their business.

Double standards suck! 😠
You made it very clear for me to understand... Thanks!

I understood it perfectly
Thanks for this
I will never understand stocks. I just call it legal money laundering.
.. as Melvin Capital does not have the funds to pay for the shares it is legally required to buy. . when people sell there shares to Melvin Capital they may not get any money for them.

Yep 🙂. Thanks for watching

Flash backs to our finance class.
Ironic that R.H. was the advertiser for your video this time.
Super informative!
I understand now, therefore I’m buying AMC!!
Why is shorting even available or legal
Great video!
I still don't get it. If you robinhood lock the buy stock to other people and let their millionaire friends to get in how can robinhood friends earn money since it will not go up?
went from thinking robinhood was a kids book to understanding how to become a billionaire thanks man
robin hood took from the rich and gave to the poor. his legacy lives on
"I'm going to go through this quickly and at a high level"
1 minute later "now let me take a moment to explain what shorting is"
I found it pretty helpful but you didn't explain a Margin Call, which I know factors into it. If you want to know who controls the US, this is the only story you need to know since November.
I hope this is the start of a new era Were the Peaople Unite against a corrupt establishment
Sounds exactly like a bet but the whole thing makes me think the market is rigged plus they take a hefty 40 something percent on capital gains .
I needed this, until you used AOC... why? Lol.
So if the super rich start losing money in their investments they simply get investment platforms to manipulate the price. How much did Robinhood profit from this deal. At this moment 1/29/2021 GME is @ $316.00
The problem with this is Tim didn't rip a bunch of free copies and pretended that they where real copies to his friends.
NEVER SELL.
Omg some are losing big
👍👍
Holding line .. ozzyman wer u
In short, robinhood stole from the poor and gave to the rich.
