Amazing work Mike!. Is there any way to isolate one person's voice from multiple voices. I have an old video file that I am struggling with. Basically isolating one person's voice out of all the surrounding people voices and backgrounds.
Pardon me for being more confused after watching. So now, having applied a noise gate, how do I apply noise reduction, or should noise reduction come before applying the noise gate? In other words, what’s the workflow look like to apply both?
Ideally you'd use neither but in the case of having to use them I'd recommend gating after noise reduction as you'd need some noise to sample for your noise reduction. Also, if you're left with significant audible noise then avoid the use of a gate as you'll only further draw attention to the noise.
I'd always recommend cleaning up the noise before recording as a first option and cleaning it up in post processing as a second option. Either way you'd clean up the audio before applying enhancements.
In 2024, the same noise reduction techniques you've demonstrated in this Audacity tutorial will still be applicable, as the fundamental principles of audio processing remain consistent over time.

That's not possible with current technology I'm afriad
Perfect timing. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go eradicate a buzzing background noise that was driving me crazy.
Glad to have helped but it's best to identify that and remove it before any further recordings 👍
@@MikeRussell Most definitely
Using RCP2, should I record with absolutely no processing and use noise gate and reduction in audacity
Or
Should I be doing a little of each?
It's best to record with minimal processing and use a combination of noise gate and reduction in Audacity for optimal results.

@@MikeRussell Thanks for your helpful reply.
Can I improve speech when mic was too far away? Voice is low and it capture a lot of environment audio.
You can usually always improve recorded audio, but judging by your description you may not reach top quality
Hi mike, I’m intending to buy your voice over presets. Should I clean up noise first ? or apply your presets first ? Sorry new to audition

@@MikeRussell hi Mike, I also have some dialogue and interview audio. What presets would u recommend ?
You may want to consider the Pro Podcast presets mrc.fm/presets
How do you deal with mic feedback sound in the mic ?
Make sure the monitors are muted before you record 👍
how do you do this in 2024?
