Ever herd of oiling your leather, I'll bet you do your boots! I have a Cold Steel carbon v tanto and a Marbles fixed blade,( which has the best steel of any knife I own) and both are carried in leather,,no problem! I don't expect any carbon steel knife to be pretty like stainless, just out preform it!
Well for one my Tops BOB is only half coated. Secondly this knife already has discoloration. So those carbon v Cold Steel knives I have seen broke at the guard are good steel?
Mott McFly Better start saving up again because I hope to have a video about the Rat Worx Mini MRX done soon, and this is definitely the knife I'd carry every day if it weren't such a legal pain to do so in NC.
TWANGnBANG My Ka-bar Kukri is an awesome cutting and chopping tool that is used to remove the legs and defeat other bones when I dress wild game. It works great and so far the only nick that has occurred on the edge was from striking a nail while stupidly chopping into a 2x4 without looking first! It will take on a razor edge and retain it for a good long time. I don't know how a deer leg bone would compare with a coconut shell but I would guess it to be a tad harder! That being said, I really liked your review and think that tool would be very useful with features not found on any kukri!
Glenn Hutchinson Same here Glenn. I have the Ka-Bar Kukri model 1249 for years and it has became my main field knife-tool because of its performance. But still the Habilis Bush Knife seems able to do the same and it is a tad smaller. If it not were because the cost... mmmm....
Great review. I was hell bent on a tops silent hero, but after discovering Habilis and watching this review and few others, I placed an order for an SRT with the leather sheath.
the price tho ouch my first blade was $ 10 1981 scout rambo type good blade tell 2008 cant get over paying more tom brown cool the price kills the deal if come down to 50 or 70 them tell then okc rak will do
caleb crabtree The crossbow section of archerytalk.com is a great source of that info. I won't be doing any series of videos like that anytime soon due to how much that would actually cost me to make.
TWANGnBANG have you ever used the Free Range Foler by CRKT. if you havent its a great knife to do a review on and will help people deside their next knife. it might also benifit your channel to. just a thought. i look forward to you reply.
Not a bad looking knife but I think the Esee 6 has more going for it. Comparable steel, coated. Removable scales, simpler grind/blade style. Better price and a very good warranty.
I like what you said about taking some Emory cloth and smoothing edges. So many times people nit pick items when such an easy solution stares them in the face. Great video!!!
Blades were the original multitools and this one looks like a great example of that. I'd love to give one a try. Good point about the small handle, though. My hands are on the larger side and that might bother me.
Say Heah, Yeah, That's why I ended up with my Ratweiler, I wanted something close to a One Tool Option, since my friend has a Habilis, For me a great move, But he still luv his.
I bought the SRT shortly after my comment here. I haven't used it much because it seemed the heat treatment was off as the edge chipped and rolled easily. I am also not a fan of the leather sheath, it's sloppy. In hindsight I should have gotten the original Bushtool with its shorter length. The longer length of the SRT tempts a person to use it like a hatchet which is where the rolls and chipping came from. It's a shame because the SRT could have achieved the legendary status of the Tracker/WSK knives. I'm still tempted to buy one of the original Bushtools especially now that they have thicker scales.
I think your videos are great! Thanks for posting your reviews. Quick question: How would you compare Habilis to the goprimal HABS-K that you reviewed?
c forbrich Different animals. The HABS-K is much smaller and easier to carry. The SRT is a monster, and that is on purpose. If you could carry a large knife, the SRT is the way to go between the two. If you wanted something smaller, the HABS-K will serve you well.
TWANGnBANG Thank you for your response, I appreciate it! Yes, the size is the big difference. However, I was hoping you could perhaps comment on construction, fit and finish, design of the SRT in comparison to the HABS. I am interested in a smaller knife like the HABS and Habilis has the Bush Tool which is comparable in size. They appear very similar on paper so I'm trying to identify why premium to the Habilis. Thanks again!
Hey man I've bin eyeballing there knives for quit sometime and haven't really seen any good reviews on them. Yet I just found yours haha. Great review. Definitely gonna get me one now. Question how often do you use it. It would be nice to know how it's done 2 years latter. Btws great show
Nice review, but I'm curious: Did you receive any compensation from Habilis? Not to say that if you did, it nullifies your comments, but it would be good to make a disclaimer if that is the case.
Rob Clizbe Do you think someone would pay me to say that their product's handle is too small? Nobody buys my opinion. I have too many video ideas to bog myself down with products I don't like, but if this video isn't a prime example that I am 100% honest even when I like a product overall, I don't know what is.
TWANGnBANG I didn't think that was the case, but I when you mentioned that Andy at Habilis recommended you use the coconut as a test, it got me wondering. Thanks.
Rob Clizbe I always ask manufacturers a lot of questions before finishing up my T&E. Part of what I ask has to do with what they think people don't know about their product but should. They often have the best ideas for things to try that haven't been done before. It's a win/win/win situation- I get to try something cool/viewers get to see something different/manufacturers get to see that their product works just as well as they thought it would.
Y'know, I love your channel; but I am a bitt of a penny pincher; I had these expensive knives and their great: but and or however, some of the best knives I've ever had and still have were less than $10.00. With them I don't have to curse myself if I loose it or break it. So, do you have a review of knives in the 10.00 - 50.00 ranges?
curlywolfone I get that much of what I review is expensive, but the purpose of my channel is not to be Consumer Reports. It's to make videos about interesting products. It's much easier to make unique and share-worthy videos about products on the high end of the price spectrum than the low end, with notable exceptions, for sure. In all seriousness, if you know of a sub-$50 knife that would be as interesting to as many people as the SRT, let me know.
hey man I highly doubt you will reply to this comment, but here it goes. do you think that this sheath would accomadate a little smaller different knife? I love the sheath but the knife I really want to put in it is the pks mountaineer. they both have the same thickness in blade but it's shorter because of the finger groove. I'm worried the sheath would swallow the knife and since you own the sheath I figured you would know. thanks again for the review and hope someone could answer this.
TWANGnBANG Awesome! I always carry a blade with me, wishing i could conceal carry; I have a better chance of winning the lotto, than getting a permit. I live in Nazi York....
Shadow Hand forged old school i bet. With their being only a couple master smiths in the world i bet they could get away with 50,000. But a 10k made in a factory, shit probably be walmart quality
RanndomUndead I didn't say in a factory. Rockstead knives which are still factory made I guess go for 1000+. Also many custom knife makers, pick the right materials and tell them to make it with their hands as much as possible will merit a high price. Not all knives that are expensive have to be hand forged. There are makers who make folders and sell them for anywhere between 1500-3000
If you live in the south,,you dont want leather,,,look at the rust spots on your knife,,for that price,,,will stay with my Perry,,,better blade to I bet
Kerg smith That's iron patina and not rust that represents corrosion. Leather is fine for the South now just as it worked fine for centuries before Kydex was invented. :)
Leather is wonderful but high maintanace,,,how do you keep all the white stuff off that grows on it? After living here a bit I now know why stainless steel is so popular. I come from Colorado where it is really dry,,,no rust, mold,or crawley things (cept for snakes and scorpions,,,laffs)
Humidity + leather + 1095 = I think I'd go Kydex.
Michael StJohn Carbon steel blades have done fine without Kydex for a long time. :)
True, my B.O.B is in kydex and no rust spots :)
Michael StJohn That's more due to the difference between TOPS Cerakote finish versus the Habilis' gun blue.
Ever herd of oiling your leather, I'll bet you do your boots!
I have a Cold Steel carbon v tanto and a Marbles fixed blade,( which has the best steel of any knife I own) and both are carried in leather,,no problem!

Great honest review! Nice knife.
Great video; Thank you!.
jonNH123 Thanks for watching!
Looks awesome!
Just bought one cant wait to try it out
Best review for this tool I’ve seen! Concise, succinct and relevant!
New subscriber, nice review and good job on your production!
+Stanford Ferris Thanks for sticking around!
Great looking and functioning blade. Excellent review as always.
***** Thanks, Don!
Makes me feel good seeing this kind of camaraderie between reviewers. Sets an example. Hope it spreads out in the industry. Kudos.
I subscribed due to this excellent review!
The Habilis SRT is a fantastic design for versatility. It really does not have any rival for what it is in my opinion.
I just used it last weekend splitting wood at our family campsite. Still love it.
Looks really good.
Every time I watch one of your knife vids, it costs me $241 :)
Mott McFly Better start saving up again because I hope to have a video about the Rat Worx Mini MRX done soon, and this is definitely the knife I'd carry every day if it weren't such a legal pain to do so in NC.
Ahhh!!
Great review.. I wonder how it will compare with a similar size Kukri.
Alfa011 It would depend on the quality of the Kukri.
TWANGnBANG

Nice video. You may also want to checkout the review of Self reliance on my blog at *josereviews.com/self-reliance-review/ * Thanks. Bobbie.
you should do an archery series about bows and crossbows for people without much money
caleb crabtree The crossbow section of archerytalk.com is a great source of that info.
Shawn Thiessen it costs about 70 dollors in canada
TWANGnBANG thanks just keep making great videos
Good review
Thanks!
Great video man
How do you start a fire with the knife? I saw you doing it in the beginning of the video and it looked like something useful to know.
Cale Manning Ferrocerium rod, using the notch in the back of the blade as the striker as it is intended for.
Thanks TWANGnBANG
Not a bad looking knife but I think the Esee 6 has more going for it. Comparable steel, coated. Removable scales, simpler grind/blade style. Better price and a very good warranty.
newcoyote The Esee 6 is a fine blade, but the design of the SRT does not lend itself to the mass production that the Esee 6 benefits from.
I like what you said about taking some Emory cloth and smoothing edges. So many times people nit pick items when such an easy solution stares them in the face. Great video!!!
Chris Davis Yep. It's important to address little things like that, but the solution is simple and not in need of a redesign of the knife.
essa faca e uma obra de arte linda meus parabens
My god, that thing is huge. Can you imagine what it would look like If that thing was used in a self defense/combat scenario? Cool knife.
M85FSLUVR Pull an SRT out, and you might not need to. :)
Great review on a great knife.
***** Thanks, Wingman115!
Nice knife! Looking forward to reviewing one in the future.
Apparently they took your advice and now the handle scales are 3/8 thick !
Are those rust stains on the blade ???
trenkabeck All 1095 blades finished with gun blue will get a patina like that in spots. Nothing to worry about.
this is a nice knife! But i also like the Tops Armageddon -- you should give that one a look if you haven't already.
professorbland That is a beast, for sure!
I didn't know this before but this video was uploaded on my birthday nice work on the knife
How about a link
leonard morey Doh! I had the description populated, but it didn't save. The link is now there. Thanks for posting!
Looks like my next knife. Good review thank u
check out the klax
MrSnappyComeback That looks fantastic! Thanks for posting!
great review I'm getting this knife I have the little brother. thanks for the video .
+paul scarpone Fantastic!
Blades were the original multitools and this one looks like a great example of that. I'd love to give one a try. Good point about the small handle, though. My hands are on the larger side and that might bother me.
elektro3000 My hands aren't that big, and I noticed. It is not a deal breaker, though, and I've seen others use paracord wrap to make it better.
BIG FAN one question was it hair shaving sharp out of the box
You don't want to take the edge that far on a bush knife. It will be too thin and fold under work.
pls do another review about bow and arrow
HaBillis makes excellent knives! Great Review as well. I prefer it over MSK1. 1095 is my favorite steel.
what gloves are you using
+Adam Price PIG Alpha Touch. Great gloves.
What's the handle material? Looks like micarta?
***** G10. Available in three different colors.
Is this a review or a commercial?
dimdamer1985 Ever see a commercial where they tell you what they don't like about a product, or did you not watch the whole video before commenting?
Say Heah, Yeah, That's why I ended up with my Ratweiler, I wanted something close to a One Tool Option, since my friend has a Habilis, For me a great move, But he still luv his.
Why would people choose Kydex? because Kydex is the best.
Nice knife. Perhaps not one for me though.
Thanks for the great video review.
Iratus Jackalope Thanks for watching!
I have a Hablis Bushtool, I love it, monster of a knife and can hold up to serious abuse.
Great review, solid testing and critique of the system. I'm researching the SRT and Scarblades' Papa Bear right now. Gonna be a tough decision for me.
I bought the SRT shortly after my comment here. I haven't used it much because it seemed the heat treatment was off as the edge chipped and rolled easily. I am also not a fan of the leather sheath, it's sloppy.

I need one of those Nagpur sweatshirts, where can I get one?
Magpul*
RusticSpoon Not sure if you can buy them. This was a gift they gave to some media.
Alright, cool. Thanks for the response. Love all of the videos by the way
I think your videos are great! Thanks for posting your reviews. Quick question: How would you compare Habilis to the goprimal HABS-K that you reviewed?

Keep up the gr8 work dude! Love ur vids😀
Good vid. Nice looking knife. Can't wait for the auto knife review.
WHICH DO YOU PREFER OR FIND MORE USEFUL , TAHOMA FIELD KNIFE OR THE SRT BY HABILIS OR ?
Where can i buy it ? I can not find on amazon (((
Have comes from Habeo, Habere; not Habilis.
That awesome! Might get one
I was sold up until you told me the price. Dang I wish I had money! Maybe I'll sell my kid. Maintenance on him is expensive.
Btw, awesome video as always. Your channel and overall personality rock my socks off!
MyBeardItches Keep your socks on, buddy- this is a family friendly channel. :) Thanks for your support!
What's the price on this
+Greg Halupa Linked in video description as promised.
Where'd you find a coconut? Your area looks temperate!
***** Grocery stores have them year round.
Aww, I was actually going for a monty python reference.
***** Ha! It's been at least 20 years since I've seen that movie. :)

I don't get to use it as much as I like, but it's still my favorite knife for heavy tasks.
wish steel was better quality like at least 5160
Now we are talking!
I'm not going to click that link after a few beers, the price will kill my bank balance.
Nice review, but I'm curious: Did you receive any compensation from Habilis? Not to say that if you did, it nullifies your comments, but it would be good to make a disclaimer if that is the case.

Alotta twerking in the hand 😂
I love your knife reviews, really high quality. I noticed some rust on the blade, will oil prevent that?
+Gabe Snyder Nope. It's more of a patina than destructive rust, though.
Another great video.im Def going to look into this knife to carry around on my farm in wv . maybe even just to keep in my truck.whatcha think t&b?
Jacob Malinovich It will get some good use on a farm, I'm sure.
230 dollars. ....are they high. ...

The company that made the sheath makes sheaths for lots of knives. You'll have to contact them to see if they make one for yours.
Any chance you could review some self defense or "tactical" knives?? Would be awesome!
JediMindTricks183 I have another auto knife review coming up in a few weeks.
TWANGnBANG Awesome! I always carry a blade with me, wishing i could conceal carry; I have a better chance of winning the lotto, than getting a permit. I live in Nazi York....
Big blade but it's awesome
230 dollars....ouch man..ouch
RanndomUndead It's expensive, but you won't find a knife like it for less.
TWANGnBANG lol no kidding, but, Lasik money takes priority atm.....i wonder if theres a 3,000 dollar knife out there
RanndomUndead There are knives that go for 10,000 +

Wish i could afford it
Donkey Flem It is an investment, for sure.
I have a 22 rifle and hunt rabbits good knofe for sking them?
Donkey Flem I'd want a much smaller caping knife for a rabbit.
Reminds me of late night QVC. Twang, quit selling us stuff and do a review.
let me add, thank you for taking the time to make videos for us.

To me this knife is way to over priced, you could have a knife crafted just for yourself Shea per than this
sweeeet:)
