You guys have simply got to get your heads out of the wind more. Air resistance is slowing you up a lot. Man that looks like a blast..... Your pal BigBadBubbaBurns
You def took those corners a bit to hard at the beginning which slowed you down enough for the lead to pull further away. You just got to take those corners a bit smoother as to set yourself up for the next turn. Other than that you did a great job! Looks like so much fun!
Great race, congratulations. I noticed in some of the 30-40 degree turns you sometimes tend to turn harder than is needed like here at 3:50, the driver of the red car in front of you rolled out and ran a better line which set him up for the next turn and in a few more turns he began to pull away. You need to learn to reduce pressure on the wheel and roll out of the corners and be smoother, smooth through turns is faster while pulling harder around corners than needed will burn off speed through tire friction. Keep going, you will get there ! 👍
I was thinking the same thing. I think his cart rolls really well. Probably better than the two that finished ahead of him. He just needs to learn how to use little things like getting into another carts slip stream (yes there is one at those speeds) and widen his lines thru the turns so he's not scrubbing off more speed than he needs to.
@@svenrump3287 On many of the carts they do lean back on long straight sections of the road to reduce drag and they sit up in the corners to help slow them so they do not have to use as much brakes and they sit up in rough road areas and on speed bumps where they get airborne to save their backs from injury. Also some do "draft" the cars slip stream in front of them at times while others don't seem to understand that it can help them run faster and help them pass the car in front of them.
Good race, guys! I like the "no pusher athletes" format. I don't think I have to tell you where you lost it, but I will. You went inside, or near, the white lines on the inside of the corners where those little pebbles and other detritus aren't cleared out by cars. Super brave, one lapse in attention and you'd be flying -- not in a good way!
If you are talking about loosing traction on the marbles and spinning out on the bends you would be correct, but he never had any tractions issues. His problem was braking too hard for the hairpins and taking a too narrow approach to the bend. He lost 3 or 4m per medium-hard bends. The cart ahead of him was no faster, just better through the bends.
These are gravity vehicles so anything that slows you down cannot be recovered by doing something that is not available to your opponent, they have to make a mistake if you are going to catch them. If bearings, alignment, etc. are assumed equal, then it's mostly down to avoiding vertical motion and minimizing the tires slip angle. The detritus on the edge of the road, away from the area cleaned by cars and trucks is slow due to the small forces not aligned with forward motion I'm not sure this is the case here, but hanging off the back by the pusher may help turn the cart in some turns, and stretching out the moment arm may, or may not, help, it is the main cause of spinout in sharp fast turns, especially when traction is low. Not sure they ever use the brakes, if they have any.
Amazing AND an environmentally friendly sport. Awesome. Nice that some people don't feel the need to have a bigger, louder, more annoying motor than the next guy!

It's a race. It's common in human races to discard waste so it isn't a distraction or a burden. Race officials know this and accept it as normal, which it is. Don't worry, it all gets cleaned up afterward.

The bouncing back and forth does nothing to increase speed, unless you do it like this: lean back slowly, jerk forward fast, lean back slowly jerk forward fast, repeat many times. In sailing this is called ooching and is not allowed when racing. The laws of physics works to increase speed as your mass comes to a sudden stop at the end of the jerk, and the momentum pushes the cart forward. Also keep your body as low as possible, and keep your bodies close together to reduce air drag, also try to align your cart with any carts in front of you, ie draft them.
from a physics standpoint to me it makes no sense to be pushing your body forard and backwards as the net effect is zero gain. The only thing you can do is cut down air resistance by ducking down as far as you can go on the seat.
All things being the same It all come down to wind resistance , rolling resistance and conserving momentum...1 Get out of the wind as much as you can and get A full faced helmet and put little wheel pants on the front wheels.. 2 the narrowest tire with the most air you can stand and still turn with..3 don't pinch the corners as hard just let I glide...those three things and you will never be beat
I found myself leaning in the corners. Thanks for the ride😊
This looks like the most fun a person could have with 4 wheels and no motor!😊👍
This looks like a ton of fun. And breathtaking scenery.

I wish all of these drivers would lean back more..the drag they create is worth two mph
they act like they are in side cars
Great ride, you guys. Looking forward to next race. 👍

And have the driver lay back more for less wind resistance.

Wie lang ist denn die Strecke komplett ?
How Long is this Track ?
Why are they not leaning back a max to reduce drag to the max? Also catching the ‘wind shadow’ of the ones in front more?

How do you think they got to the top of the hill? Towed by a vehicle of some kind...
Great sport. Thanks.
👍✌️
Compelling Race!
That was a fun ride although, not without its hazardous moments!
Okay that was crazy - I've never seen anything like that before. Soapbox derby on steroids.
wing mirrors would be good
Esos movimientos…
Making your turns as wide as possible will help you from scrubbing off speed.
Grown Children!!! 😂😂😂😂 Looks very exciting. I was hoping you would win!

Looks fun. If only they understood that rocking accomplishes nothing. The inertia works both ways and mutually cancels.
I found myself rocking back and forth to get more speed.
Y EN DONDE FUE, ESTA COMPETENCIA. ??
MUY BONITO MUY SANO Y MUY DIVERTIDO.

BTW any brakes on em?

interesting how those who don't rock back and forth and take good lines zoom of ahead

Why isn't the driver tucked down as much as possible? All wind resistance is slowing you down.
The driver AND the passenger.
Why do they shake???
Enjoying the suction and chosing the shortest way are also useful.
