Baofeng is the best trash in the market. Baofeng do not work properly .
Well thats weird because I have about a dozen different Baofeng radios, and every single one of them works just fine... But, I must be the one lucky one because you are clearly a RUclips-certified Comments Expert.
#MYGA
Then you must not be using your baofeng correctly all mine work fantastic
Did not see one piece of test equipment in that video.
Hams like this radio for one reason and one reason only, they are cheap.
That alone makes it the best radio in the world, until something cheaper comes out.
(I've been a Ham for 27 years)
Zero Fucks Given
Sounds like a case of PEBKAC
I actually laugh out loud at this guy. But his info is honest and straight forward. I love this channel!
Your channel is outstanding.
Sometimes, I back up the video to hear the one liners a second or third time. Kudos. 🤠😎
I had to slo mo the spurious emissions part to see the reaction again...
That appears to be the shituation over here, too!
Great channel and information. Just ordered 2 KG 905's, and got GMRS license. Thank you for the information, and the entertainment. I'm not allowed on the couch.
Love your videos man. I refer all new gmrs people to your RUclips. GMRS is growing bigger than Ham. GA has the largest linked repeater network in the world. 20 repeaters 3100 sq miles. I appreciate your review on the Wouxun UV9G shtf radio. I absolutely love it. I love that and my btech gmrs-v1. I appreciate what you do man. Keep making videos.
SWCRS in New Mexico/ Arizonia and Denver-and I believe it can link to you system.
I miss the opening commitment that this video will be short and to the point, because I am your favorite viewer and my time is so valuable (or something like that)
Also nice to know that Smiley antennas are made in the USA. I own two of their 5/8 Slim Duck 465 MHZ antenna and one of the Super Stick IV 465 MHZ retractable.
Bro me and my friends take shots of whiskey when you say “ affiliate link below”
I'm in!!!
"Bro".....really
he says opheliate link below
I ordered a KG-905 this morning, it should OUT OF STOCK, by the time I got home after work. I got an email saying it's been shipped. I want to thank you for your video's, very informative.
Thank you Randy for your videos, just don't realize how informative and fun to watch them.
I really like the stuff that Wouxon makes.
I like handheld radios for adventuring when I'm on foot but much prefer Midland MIcroMobile radios for when I'm driving and off-roading. Currently running MXT400s in two Jeeps. I have a Radioddity handheld GMRS that for some reason won't communicate with the Midlands, but it's probably a programming goof on my part. I will pick up the Baofeng in this video soon as another handheld.
The UV5R gag never gets old.
Oh no, and I just got my KG-905G. I do enjoy the dry humor and the good information.
I glad you got a good UV-9G.. I wish I had, too. I bought a pair....no FM of course, in spite of the fact that the manual and the buttons all indicated that it should be there. Also, no NOAA. That's an issue here in the hurricane zone. And, it refused to pick up any UHF or VHF signals, even when several other Baofengs, sitting on the table with them, and tuned identically heard every click. Back they went. Maybe some day Baofeng will find some FM chips and figure out the NOAA problem.
Exactly the video I’ve been waiting for you to make. Thank you for this recommendation I will definitely be purchasing a UV9G for traveling and off-roading.
Thank you for the information; I’d like to see an update to this video for 2024, unless your preferences haven’t changed.
I kept watching the video to see the entire message on your t-shirt.
The wife and each have a UV-9G, and I just ordered a KG-935G+, pretty darn excited. I may have get those Smiley Ducks for the Boofwangs for sure...
If the UV-5R is jailbait, then I'm Rob Lowe.
Why is this not at the top, Youngblood?
Matt Gaetz has updated this joke
Absolutely love that poster in the background
As a long time Mac user, I would love it is you would explore a low cost windows machine that could be dedicated to programming radios that aren't support by CHIRP. I am sure there are options that that are cheaper than even some of the low cost radios. I tried running Windows virtually on the Mac with Parallels but couldn't get the USB to work and haven't tried installing it with Bootcamp. I know you don't care, but I enjoy your GMRS videos and find them very informative. Thanks!
Just any entry level laptop under $300 will meet your needs for anything outside gaming and video rendering.
A good used twin I-5 laptop should be $100 or so.
I have a refurb'd i7 Dell laptop and a M1 Mac Minne. The Dell it just for when the non-standard Mac won't run what I need to run.
Randy had a Feng emit a big ol' spuu-rr all off in his grill lol
I like the beretta mat!
Thank you for the great information and the awesome entertainment! Nothing like obtaining knowledge while laughing your ass off!
That radio spoogeing on you was hilarious !🤣
Don’t worry, I’m a happy ham :) love your videos! Keep up the good work!
Despite what your shirt says. I think these are some very good choices in handheld radios! It's hard to beat that Baofeng for only $40!
You like to lay on your sofa and whisper softly into your radio while your wife sleeps eh? What you up to on that radio there, mate? Keep up the good work, they're well made and highly amusing. And I am also a fan of the sad ham!
LOL. Six minutes in and I just noticed the poster over his right shoulder.
Thank you for pointing that out! Still viewing and had not yet noticed that!
HA! That's awesome
Using the UV9R version of the Baofeng I found the volume knob could still get bumped. A 1/2" ID oring around the base of the knob took care of that issue.
That sounds kinda huge for an o-ring. Are you sure you know what 1/2" is?
@@chrissewell1608 he meant Id inside dimension.
Just ordered 2 Baofeng UV9G's from your affiliate. Waiting for FCC to get their act together and change the fees. Love your videos. Keep up the good work. If you hear from the FCC let me know. Because I am your favorite viewer. Also I got Chirp on my PC, but doesn't look like the UV9G is on there yet. Have a good one!
I'm also waiting for the price correction 👍
@@kaiel5006
Yeah, same here! Renewed my GMRS license last year before it could expire but it will be a much easier sell getting friends to get their license @ $35 rather than @ $70.
I thought they had already changed the price to $35.00, for a GMRS license? Thank Joey B. For that tax rise too!
@@chrissewell1608 they did change the price. But it has not actually changed on the website. So there is no way to pay the lower price.
I got my dad to buy the GMRS license. Oh he is a Great Great Grandfather. He has 56 people/ Family members !!!
Your videos are art! Zero fu$ks given.. “since I’m such a dynamic person” blahahaahhahha
He mentioned XENU! Yay!
Excellent advice, information, now I would want the indoor radio, waterproof with noice reduction
Love your work, keep it up
So the Uv-9g/Uv-9r would be the best for chatting in the bath then?
Yes! I chat with mine, in my pool. As I float on my 🦄 raft! It is magnificent!
Randy...I hope you had a towel handy when those spurious emissions got on you. I always hate it when THAT happens! I laughed so hard when I saw that, I just had to comment. Ham op. 31 years, GMRS op. 6 months. Regardless of what bands (or channels) I'm using, I think I'll keep a towel near by...just in case. lol
Best antenna for the uv9g that actually fits the radio? Best in regard to the best quality and reach.
Awesome! Spurious emissions... LOL Good choices! Love your stuff!
Does the UV 9G have the ability to scan emergency services as well? Just started watching your channel and trying to figure out what radio will suit my families and I needs. Thanks for all the great information!!!!!
Have you ever tried the Baofeng GM15 Pro? I own one and really like it and cost me less than 30 bucks!! Enjoyed this review. Thank you!!!
Is the squelch as bad on the UV-9G as it is on the UV-9R Plus? On my 9R Plus (and others reviewed on RUclips), the squelch is either all or none - to check Noah weather, I either have to set the squelch to zero or hold down the override button--not the case with any of my UV-5R's. Squelch of 1 on up seems to be at the same level for each increment.
How can I bring more people into gmrs in my area? Or how would you do it? I have a mobile setup in my car and a handheld, but don't ever hear anyone else... should I maybe try to start a gmrs club? And if so, how?
Seriously!!!! Nobody on GMRS in my town, either. It is like when I was a kid, and had that one GE Radio/Walkie-Talkie "base station" that ran off of C Batteries, could receive all 23 CB channels and xmit on Ch 14. I could hear the licensed adults talking on Channel 9 or Channel 11, but they couldn't hear my weak signal because I was on Channel 14. What a joy it was when a kid down the block got a set of walkie-talkies for their birthday and at last I had someone to talk to!
I feel as though I have now come full circle.😳
I've tried social media. Created a FB Group and started a group on NextDoor. So far no nibbles. Maybe hire some sign wavers at the intersection??? At this point I don't have a clue.
@@gone2dmtns the issue is people who need GMRS have GMRS people who dont dont. Get your outdoorsy friends to get it.
Great Video! Thank you for sharing!
Sorry for such a silly question, does the FCC only regulates in US?
I have a KG-935G, with which I am very pleased. However, I have yet to use it in a true outdoors situation such that a listener would complain of background noise. I'm sure the time will come when background/wind noise will be an issue.
You are the man!
We take ours out snow machining with our and the batteries last a couple days in the cold.
Randy, Here is the challenge. I have bought this radio (a pair), the Smily antennae and love the radio. What it is missing is the remote speaker microphone all my other GMRS radios have including the 805 and 905 Wouxons. Can't you convince Baofeng to market such an accessory? We expect you have pull with them. Help us out here.
With all the new GMRS HT's this year, have or would you change your mix of recommendations in these two categories?
I really like like UV-9G myself.
I am definitely looking for a couple of GRMS radios but they have to be able to be programed WITHOUT the use of a computer as I only have an iPad. What GMRS radio can be programed quick and easy with the keypad only❓
Most of the radios out there allow you to program them via the keypad, except for maybe renaming channels. Quick and easy is another story. There's nothing quick or easy about programming via the keypad versus software, but it's possible.
Randy just did a video on a new mobile phone / Bluetooth app that programs "some" radios. Hopefully the support list will get longer sooner than later. See ruclips.net/video/9Vbpbh0x_Nk/видео.html
@@ChuckRowe
I hate re-naming channels. They get used to being called Mikey or Benjy, then after they have been in the radio a while and get older, you start calling them Michael or Benjamin, and they frequently don't respond to those new names for a while until they get used to them.
😦
Thank you for this video!
I have the GMRS 9-R Randy reviewed which is pretty similar to the Baofeng you recommended. Really like it! The "tape measure" antenna is especially cool. Might carry it when I travel
What difference are between BAOFENG GM-15 PRO and BAOFENG UV-9G? Which is better?
My favorite radio manufacturers are, Kenwood Maxon Midland Motorola and VERTEX STANDARD. Even if they're not Part 95 A or 95 E typed accepted, I rather use radios that have quality construction and audio.
My life will be complete when I see “Shit-uation”, added to the Merriam-Webster dictionary. Thanks, Randy.
Hello not a Rubicon I am a four-wheel-drive enthusiast along with my son tired of trying to get CB's to work around corners and through the forest this review intrigue me a lot. For a not a Radiohead it would seem that the ocean would be the simplest GMRS radio to start out with your thoughts please 97 4Runner
Hello brother Randy I binged watched most of your videos specially on the BaoFeng I ended up purchasing 4 Uv-5ra’s and 1 tenway uv-5r pro I don’t see any difference in it versus the other ones except the look any suggestions or is it just a decent knock off of the baofeng either way thanks for all your info love your channel keep up the great work looking forward to more videos God bless
Does the Baofeng UV-9G have both CTCSS and DCS tone scanning ability (for us to be able to more easily determine which tone(s) are being used on the repeater output and repeater input when we are geographically nearby the repeater)?
Thank you for agian not wasting my time love the vids tha k u
Can you compare updated uv9g to updated uv5x thanks . Really appreciate your videos .
Bought the beofang uv5r a month ago still dont kno how to ise it
Thanks for the GMRS reviews and educational content! Has anyone used a mic with the Baoufeng UV-9G? I'm looking for one that is compatible and is reasonably good quality.
I now touch my UV-5R affectionately when I see it.
Same 😫🤣
Outstanding, Amigo.
Yaesu ft-60r for gmrs without mars mod?
Hey, Randy, as always great video and all of your time is appreciated. Question about the UV-9G. Will it work with digital repeaters.
GMRS is analog only, and it is a GMRS radio, so, no.
Great pic’s Sir…👍🏻
How does the UV-9G compare to the UV-82HP? Or even the V1 model?
I just picked up a Baofeng uv g9 it doesn’t pick up fm or the noaa local channel. The radioddity 30 has no,problem giving me 4-5 bars. Do you know if the Baofeng antenna is no good?? Thanks
I found the UV 5g plus doesn’t like to take on the frequencies that are programmed in for repeaters I don’t know how it could go wrong using chirp
Two questions one can the uv-9G be set up to monitor local emergency channels. And the second one is how do you scan without it stopping on the NOAA channels
Yes, you can can local emergency frequencies..
You can scan and skip the noaa channels by not saving the noaa channels to the list of channels/frequencies that you want to scan.
My version of the radio and software would not allow me to skip the preprogrammed NOAA frequencies so I deleted my local NOAA channels and programmed those frequencies into vacant channel slots that did allow for me to skip.
Great videos. I’ve got a couple of the Baofeng F8HP on hand to get me started. Waiting for the test to start using them. Just ordered a programming cord. Just listening for now to see what all I can pick up. I may get different antennas in the future
You are the fucken Man Bro,U Rock Brotha....Keep up the good work,n Be safe.
This is my favorite channel, I have question might be dumb but is there certain settings i should change on gmrs or is it about the same as my uv5r?
i have no idea what that even means.
Compare the UV-9G and the Radioddity GM-30.
what do you think of the Rocky Talkie that has been so much on the RUclips planet?
Hey since it’s seemingly a bit of a pain to find info on the UV-93, do you still need an armature radio license or can it be used on other changes legally with just a gmrs license?
I am New to this ,What is Repeaters? Thanks
Please review the Baofang UV-10R
Very helpful video. Both of these are approved by FCC correct? Thanks
Randy for president
MYGA 2022
Does the slim duck on the UV-9G nullify the waterproofing since it leaves the port partially exposed?
What is the difference from baofang UV-9g and the baofang UV-9g any help ?
Is the UV-9G the same as the Baofeng GMRS 9R? If not, what's the difference?
What are these RF Emissions he talks about??
Any consideration comparing the UV9g to the UV9r...pros/cons?
So , how come you chose the Baofang over the 905g for outdoors?
Same reasons I chose it over the 935G for outdoors.
Also no dual receive on the 905.
Would it not be beneficial to get something like a UV-S9 that can cover Ham and GMRS in one Radio?
What radio is that on the video thumb nail?
Do you have any new favorites since this video is two years old? Thanks in advance.
Yes, I do!
@@TheNotaRubiconI like your sense of humor 👍
Chef Conrad!
Wouxun KG-905G. 3x the cost of the Baofeng but it doesn't spew those spurious emissions all over you.
Is there any chance of Wouxun making the KG935G in a “pro” model with better waterproofing and dust proofing?
In one of your previous videos featuring the UV9G, you mentioned that the radio, while very good lacked in some areas. And that Baofeng reached out to you and said they would address those issues in the near future. Do you know if that has happened yet ? If not, any idea when that might be ? Waiting on the new and improved version UV9G.
Any update on the possible updates to the radio??
I recently got the UV-9G and all the major problems he brought up in his other video that Baofeng told him they were going to be fixing have, in fact, been fixed. No CTCSS/DCS by default, wideband when allowed by the selected channel, etc.
Can you get Baofeng to finally get listed on Chirp?
could you tell me if there is a gmrs hand held radio that actually puts out 5 watts of power when tested ? thanks i like your humor while teaching. 7/24/22
Just got my Baofeng UV9G. Baofeng hasn’t fixed the issues it has yet. Even though it’s advertised as so on Amazon
well they still have to sell off the old stock... maybe if they would discount the pre fix ones the they could minimize their loss.
