Hi thanks for sharing your method. . Try using a heat gun or hair dryer to remove the iconic gold spine which then makes removing the staples so much easier. I’m in Western Australia
I have made many Golden Book journals and have never had the need to back the cover with a cereal box. The Golden Book cover is sturdy enough. Just my opinion, tfs!
Did you cut the spine off at the groove? I wanted to keep it. There are many ways to make them. I just wanted to try this one out. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I have a question, I’ve never made a Little Golden Book journal but I want to because the Little Golden Books were totally my jam as a kid. Is there a reason you backed the entire thing with the cereal box rather than just building a new spine? I’m guessing maybe because the groove by the gold foil would be to bendy if you left it un-reinforced?
Yes the groove is too bendy. You can still cut it off and trim the pages a little. Sometimes it cuts into the words. I guess each book is different. I’ve done more complicated fixes before of gluing some cotton yarn in the groove to strengthen it. That is too tedious. You should search RUclips for making LG Books. I’m sure you will see many methods.

Good tips on the staples. I actually just bought this book at a garage sale on Saturday.
Thank you for sharing this. I always like to see different methods. TYFS
You are so welcome!

Really great start. Blessings and hugs 🤗
thank you
This is great!
Thanks. I like using the cinch too but didn’t want to mess with it. I’m still learning about it.
