I try to buy one every 5 years or so. Still rocking an iPhone 8 Plus. 4years later and still works fine.
You may want to look into Xiaomi as your next 5Years phones. If you're an enthusiast when it comes to owning your device and being able to mod it. It's a really great value for cheap. I would recommend getting a Poco f3 (300$). Installing a rom called the pixel experience (or lineage os if you like your phone to be bare bones and with no extra bloatware) then if you have an extra 50$ you can also get an 8bitdo Pro 2 (a neat controller) and use it as an emulation machine that can run up to 3ds and PS2 games.
@@hakimehamdouchi7468 I’ve got multiple accounts attached to my iPhone so I’m basically stuck with them lol especially the music I bought and downloaded on the iTunes when I was a kid. Plus Apple Music makes it easier.
Don't feel bad I know someone that just has the battery on the 6s replaced and it pretty much does everything except take professional photographer quality pictures... the iPhone se is pretty much trying to convince those people to please give Apple 500 dollars instead of just 50
@@JoshCarlos1998 if you cant switch from iphone to android, i suggest getting the iphone 13. if you can afford, its basically just a downgraded iphone 14, but the differences are barely noticeable
@@hakimehamdouchi7468 I agree. Been rocking the mi 9t since early 2020. I have had android 9, 10, 11, 12 and soon 13 when I decide to flash a new rom/update. Only cost me $300, still works great + I get the latest features with every rom update 👍.
anyone else that want to see more videos like this where armada just "rant" or talk about something? I for one do :)
I think I bought my current phone about 5 years ago and it has like, at least a year more in it. one every year is crazy
I love Armada rants lol
armada is all about practicality and being optimal 🙂
its a status symbol for these people more than what the phone practically offers them
Actually no1 cares about an Iphone as a status symbol lmao, maybe a tesla yea
@@Joe-xv9kd "for these people"
As someone who repairs phones and have to keep up with how phones operate, anytime before like 2014, I could see someone upgrading their phones every year, because they provided something substantial like better battery life, screen size (compared to the year before), and smaller quality of life stuff, but after about 2016 most phones can hold up with intense programs. The only thing you need to keep your phone going strong is to replace your battery every 3 years (this could easily be done on ALL devices), and give yourself a few new wallpapers and themes to freshen up how you view the phone and you can easily have that phone for about 7-9 years before the rest of the internals start going bad and you can justify an upgrade. Also, factory reset your phone every few years.
Factory reset? My phone has been getting a bit slower lately, maybe I should try that
Honestly for me the s6 size was the most comfortable while the s8 got so big that most of my pockets were small for it.
They release phones on a schedule rather than only when there's some kind of breakthrough advancement in cellphone technology and I think that says all you need to know about the latest versions of each brand
Another common Armada W
never bought a phone in my life, got gifted a flip flop 10 years ago and that did its job for a while then got gifted an iphone 5 maybe 6 years ago and stopped updating it a long time ago so its still runs very well
The best fact is when you realize people whinning about not having money the most are the one changing phone every year
40 dollar Samsung works fine for me. Maybe if I played graphically demanding games on my phone I'd have an expensive one, but beyond that I don't see the point
I buy a lot of phones. It's always a grass is greener effect where you fool yourself that this next phone will be worth it. Sometimes they are decent jumps in features and quality but at the end of the day they all make calls and stream videos. The biggest differences are iPhone vs androids and even then it's preferential.
Every year? Nah the time when my phone starts shutting off at 50%
Agreed. I just get a new one if my phone starts to have too many issues
according to an anonymous insider who spoke to Digital Foundry they cancelled the “Switch Pro” because of the chip shortage
Totally agreed lol I will buy a new phone when either my battery goes to shit or my screen is shattered to unusable levels. 3 years seems to be about how long mine last, but I'm going on year 4 on my current one with no signs of stopping so fingers crossed I get another 3 years out of it 🤞
I recently spent 230 USD on a OnePlus phone after my 4 year old, low end, motog phone. The new one has an AMOLED screen like a flagship, and basically all the features of a flagship from 2 years ago except it actually has a headphone jack. You know the market has peaked when they start removing features just to keep their revenue increasing.
I have a conundrum though. Virtually all lithium batteries are produced with cobalt from the Congo as that country produces 75% of the worlds supply. Hundreds of thousands of people work in open pits, handling toxic ores with sandals and no gloves, working by hand chiseling away. Including tens of thousands of children. Thousands of people in each pit looks like one of Gustav Dores illustrations for Dante's Inferno, except now that I think about it I don't recall seeing children in any of his circles of hell.
So my problem is that I can't hold something in my hand that's made with lethal child exploitation without offsetting that disgust somehow. I look at the court system and how much they place a monetary value for losses of life and I feel any act of charity on my part would be insufficient.
I liked the active line of the galaxies. Better battery, basically a case included, first to waterproof. Usually a worse camera, no edge stuff, no double sided glass. The s8 version was a disappointment. The glass got small hairline cracks in it through regular use. The size was larger than most pockets and would fall out regularly. Eventually lost the waterproofing and the screen died. The iPhone 6s is still viable as a phone as long as you replace the battery for 50 bucks. I'd argue that phones since 2015 have been largely incremental at best and you don't miss out on much. The biggest thing to come out is a foldable phone
100% agree on this.
Adding to your 6s comment, I had the *6* for years and I've replaced the battery once at a 3rd party. The only reason why I upgraded to the 13 was because most of my favorite apps were becoming unusable due to dated OS. If I went back in time, I would have convinced myself to get the 6s instead of 6
@@skyguysZ that sucks being on the other side of that cut off. The 6s runs the latest ios so everything is still compatible but back then if you got the 16gb model you might have to get creative with getting enough space to download the update xD
Like back with the original razr and life during the normal phone era yea upgrading every year or every other usually meant that you were getting a free phone so why not once they started costing 400+ they weren't free anymore.
I feel you. I only buy the latest iPhone once every six years or so. And only when my previous iPhone consistently dies one minute after a 100% charge.
The apple store actually replaces batteries pretty affordably at ~$50 on the iPhone 6s. The s4 and s5 active version galaxy phones were the first certified waterproof phones with covers that you could easily remove to replace the battery yourself and came standard with a headphone jack
@@StealthNinja4577 Well, I have an iPhone 12 Pro at this point. Besides, by the time battery issues start to happen, it’s probably time for me to get a new phone anyways. LOL
@@BLamb need is the key word. The iPhone 8 had a c version that people were saying has a worse screen. When I changed the wallpaper to match the "better screen" version the person was staring at it trying to find a difference. As long as the screen isn't cracked and the battery holds a charge and you don't want a better camera or bigger phone and you don't want to spend $1000ish + depending on the plan terms then a new one is tough in my book xD
@@StealthNinja4577 I actually got my iPhone 12 Pro with an iPhone 6S trade promotion with AT&T. My dad offered to pay for whatever amount remained for the phone for me. I personally didn’t have to pay anything out of pocket, LOL.
It's not just buying a new phone every year, it's dumb to buy an expensive phone too.
If you spend more than $200 on a phone, you're getting scammed.
True af. Only middle class know this feeling and sentiment lmao.
wtf phone u buying thats 200 bucks, most mid range phones now are over 200 so unless you getting some cheapo entry level phone you are getting scammed, i paid about 300 pounds for my phone but it came with the newest stuff and the quality of the phone is high,
i bought a samsung a5 4 years ago, still works mostly fine and doesnt have a single crack, despite the amount of times ive dropped it from chest height
get a GOOD case on your phone day one, that shit is a lifesaver
oh, and get a screen protector too
Why I use to like the active s line of the galaxies. Basically a built in case, might get some minor dings but otherwise a pretty tough phone... the last s8 active was a huge let down though. The size got too big for pockets causing it to fall out more often and the glass got fine ~2mm cracks in it super easy from just using it.
New phones are such a waste of money man. SO many other things you could have gotten instead
True. A phone that's more than $200 is a complete waste of money.
2:03 Wise words for real !
yeah i had my galaxy s7 for almost 7 years and only recently upgraded to a xiaomi 12
Where did the biggest irl smash fails video go? I didn’t get to watch it rip
youtube channel 'yaboihakim' actually has a recent video on this going over 'planned obsolescence' lol
I've changed phones more often than I wished only because I gifted my then current phone to family that needed one and I took the opportunity to update. I'm on my 4th phone since 2013 and I would probably still be on my 2nd if I didn't do the gifting thing. I always go budget tier and for around 200$ it's always given me everything a top tier iphone could ever provide me, except camera quality but I don't really care for that.
I'm currently rocking a Moto G9 Plus and I've been really loving the Moto G#+ line. Powerful and cheap 🤷♂️ I'm sure there are equivalent or better phones out there but Motorola really got me to trust their line of phones, starting with the G4+ and then the G7+. Until I buy one that's a doozy I'll probably stay in this familiar zone of comfort and won't try something completely new.
The G series is the best price/performance line of phones in the market IMO, and they have been for the better part of a decade.
Wise words 👏🏻
My smartphone is now nearly a decade old :D
Still kept my 6S plus because of the headphone jack. I didn’t get their 7 onwards with airpods because they sold a solution to a problem they made. And airpods are disposable and terrible for the environment
Yeah, I try not buying a new one at all but I always crash them XD. Every year or every sexy months :(
Agreed. But I might switch my 10-year-old phone for an e-ink phone, just for reading purposes.
Ive only had two iPhones a 5s and an 11 so Ive had two in a span of 6 years
If it's not broke don't fix it is the way.
Besides I'm waiting for the Iphone69 xl, hd, 250 gb, final version x2, definitive edition.
Agree with you there waste of money
True but i keep breaking them lol
My classmates would intentionally break their phone so their parents bought them a new model
I agree lol
True
Ah yes, this is the gaming content that we need
Saw the title, still clicked, and still complained. Remarkable.
