Had a fantastic day yesterday at The Den with my brother, it was good seeing you guys in person. Had a nice long chat with Richard, a very nice and knowledgeable guy. Also had a good chat with Dale who had a look at the original paint on my Cosworth, with positive comments, again very knowledgeable and friendly. Good to meet Johnny Smith too. There were some great cars on display 👌🏻
@@gordonmilbank1934 your Cosworth was so beautifully original. Was totally blown away that it hadn't been restored. (Was the guy in the blue car parked next to you)
Finally an opportunity for someone to do a better job of that unfortunate looking rear valance of the DBS. It’s a lovely looking car apart from the clunky box so clearly visible under the rear bumper.
Thanks SO MUCH for organising the event at The Den, I absolutely loved it. Was a really great day and lots of time nerding-out and talking cars and engineering with your team and other visitors. Looking forward to possibly working with you on my body repairs
Thanks For the fantastic event yesterday sooooo many beautiful cars on display and awesome to actually get to see you brilliant work with my own eyes. Well worth the trip over from Northern Ireland. Great meeting the team and having a chat with Nat about Cooke’s engineering
Great event yesterday. Very nice chat with Richard, what a good guy. Was walking over from the car park with a guy who'd come over from Israel specially. What a comment on the work you do and the quality of the weekly videos.
That was me! It was lovely chatting with you on the way from the car park, and I have to honestly say it was well worth the travel, not only for the cars (all of which were amazing), but also for the lovely atmosphere.
Great event, opening of the DEN. Sadly my initial car decided to blow its clutch cylinder, so made it but rather late and a good few folks and cars had left in the rain. The place looks amazing and keen to see more.
The dash on the Portofino is magnificent! A design house in the making! There's so much that is exceptional in this video, but I have to mention the top,top shelf quality of Richard's upholstery! Excited to find out the plan for the Aston. Thanks Retropower!😅
I had a DBS6 bought from the small ads of Classic and Sportscar, in 1998 for 10K£. Bit of rust engine was ok, 3 gear on the ZF was a bit crunchy. Smoked around in it for 2 years. Good times.
Oh man a Aston Martin DBS is to me one of the best looking cars ever made along with the v8 vantage always wanted to see one completely modernised but keeping that look. Can't wait to see what you do with it
Never thought id see the day when i said that 2 allegros looked way better than 2 bubble arched mk1 escorts.. paint schemes look way better and nicely retro
I’ve been thinking what car I would have you guys build for me if I ever won the lottery and it would be an Aston Martin DBS!!! So excited for this project!
As an ex-Newport Pagnell Aston employee (Harness maker) I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do with the DBS ..................... Due to events beyond my control I didn't make it to the launch party .................. Gutted
What is becoming evident is the not quite up to standard build quality of Jensen cars. Both the CV8 and The Interceptor seemed almost shoddily built. Volvo entrusted the bodywork of their P1800 sports car to Jensen initially but when exaseprated by this issue took their manufacture in house. Swedish cars have an S suffix and the British ones have probably dissolved by now! Not ideal in for a home market with long winters. Lovely work as always but when are you going to take on older cars from the 30s to the 50s?
Not really - I have seen Bentley Specials that look like vintage cars and were powered by modern Bently V8s and feature fully uprated brakes and susension. Taking on older cars is what the American hot rod shop that inspired Retro Power do and take a look at the work of The Great Chip Foose. RP are more than capable of equalling any American custom car builders and a ready market awaits them.
Contemplating upgrades to an Aston Martin must mean a serious stretch of the imagination. Escorts and Allegri are blank canvases on which almost any change is likely to be an improvemen, but that's Kaiser and Stratosphere.
Because it has the original under seal still left on the car and we didn’t want to risk problems around the zinc sticking to the metal and not the rubber coating
The video quality when Cal and Nat are talking is noticeably worse than the b-roll footage. Not sure if camera change or video editing issues. Issue started about three episodes ago.
The Aston 6.0 V12 is cheaper than the Toyota 1GZFE, they only built 8000 gzg50's over 20 years. They built 3000/yr Aston Martin V12s , it's lighter 283kg Vs the 380kg for the gz and produces 100hp more and tourqe is better. It's 420hp/400lb-ft stock. If it was the other way around I would agree. Almost tempted to put one in a Crown to piss off the JDM crowd😂
How has this channel just 66k subscribers? Absolutely underrated!

Restomodding a DBS? It just lost one subscriber here. Unforgivable, so f*ck 'em!
Ultra exclusive to super-advanced restomod engineers like us 😁😁😁
Cal I love the way you manage to avoid saying “ the beige Allegro “ ha ha! 😁
I’m guessing the original engine in the DBS is the AM straight six, but I’m not going to try to guess what you are going to put in there! 🤔
Looking forward to a feature on yesterday's celebration!
Portofino dash design looks very classy!👍
Bloody hell Bond! I didn't expect you to return the Aston looking like that😙

Cal, your 3-series wagon, is really a BEAUTIFUL vehicle; can't help gawking at it, every time it gets viewing opportunity!

Great meeting you guys a few weeks back! Good luck with the DBS, we can't wait to see how it turns out!
Thanks for a great afternoon yesterday (even if the weather booking didn't quite work out).
That Broadspeed Mk1!!!
Awesome as Always Had to comment on Such a Great Day at the Den Thank you to all .
Brilliant day really enjoyed coming to the opening of the den thanks guys 👍

Thanks for the great event, Utah is beautiful
It is even more special in the metal. The finish is superb.

That DBS is stunning- no pressure then …
OCD calmed, quality of work is awesome, keep up the amazing work guys. This channel is why I pay for premium. Simply brilliant 👍👍👍👍
The interior of the Escort will be superb. Nice work Richard!
Yes another great car enters the workshop, cannot wait to see more on the Aston. No rush, still enjoying the Jag and e-type.
Perfect timing to see the next episode
Cracking work as per
Love the GKN wheels on the DBS.
Those will be scrapped and replaced by crappy spinners made by image wheels no doubt.
that Jaguar Xj coupe is unbelievable, well done lads
Looking forward to seeing the Aston evolve!

brilliant event at the Den, still waiting for that call to come and work with you!
Stu is an absolute master.

DBS should be epic! Brett Sinclair will be proud of you!
I’m eager to see the completed XJC. The Aston is nice too.
Must admit the job you do on cars look nice lal💜🙏💜🧙♂️
Thanks for the update.
☕️on feet up ready check out this weeks progress 🇬🇧👍🏻😉
Wish I could have done the Den launch but Mum had a surgical appointment on the Friday. Quality job, guys.
Stu will still be working on that tailgate in episode 556.
I think to avoid confusion the Baby poo brown Alegro should be known as the number two's car
Celousise thinner and evostick used to make my head bit fuzzy lol lal💜🙏💜🧙♂️

hope you can tidy up the rear valance on the Aston, always thought it looked like an "oh shit where do we put the no plate" after thought
So when Q branch runs out of Aston modding ideas, R branch step in...? Opportunity knocks here for some quirky little upgrades/machine guns.
Every time I see the logo for "The Den", all I see is Sikaflex.
Please no carbon fibre flares or extreme external mods on the DBS. It is a thing of beauty.
great car !
xjc dash .. top-notch
The DBS + 6.0 V12 from a Vanquish/DB9/Rapide. It will fit and so will the suspension/brakes.

I think that ship has sailed. Yes the library of cars is deep. But the market for classic cars is withering as well other than weekend toys.

You guys gonna be fitting ejector seats and missile launchers? 😆
Good stuff 👍
DBS looks to nice to be modded.
Portofino I teriorloo, really nice, the colour sets it off really well.
Who does the gauges for you you?
That Aston was for sale not long ago and seems to be a bit unusual.
Contemplating upgrades to an Aston Martin must mean a serious stretch of the imagination. Escorts and Allegri are blank canvases on which almost any change is likely to be an improvemen, but that's Kaiser and Stratosphere.
Too bad Mark doesn’t have a pint now and then
Hell, I’d fly over from Texas and buy him a pint!
I do 😂
Talk about a teaser!
Ok, how, exactly can you improve on an Aston Martin DBS? That is like being asked to buff up the Crown Jewels!
Seems to me it takes a lot more work to make a Jenson into a Jenson than it takes to make 2 Integras into 2 Allegros.
*Jensen
You have absolutely summed it up there!!!!!
CJ RaceCars could learn from you guys cutting carbon !!!!!!
what are the plans for the DBS ?
No way Marc! You are nothing like Paul Hollywood (you are far too young tall and handsome!) He should co-co have ha!
What was the decision process around not zinc metal spraying the Cossie like you normally do?
Because it has the original under seal still left on the car and we didn’t want to risk problems around the zinc sticking to the metal and not the rubber coating
@@RPM.Retropower_Marc Thanks for the reply Marc, much appreciated. Great to meet you at the weekend. Legend
hey, some able go tell me brand/type of the switches in model for Portofino?

If you’re paying for a one of one car, you want it to look as good as the Portofino renders.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
A DBS! PLease drop in a Virage 6.3 32 Valve engine and give it the AMV8 Vantage bodywork
Don't you mean looks like Paul Hollywoodhavebeen?
Bet Aston has masses of hidden rust.
like 228 !
Re. Aston, for goodness sake don't mess with the styling, adding your de rigueur bloated arches and oversized wheels. Subtlety please.
Is that DBS not the car that Jonny Smith dug out a while back ?..
No, that one was a 1977 Aston Martin V8.
Be interesting to see how you improve the Aston, not one for the purist's.
If you're going to modify an Aston Martin it would be sacrilege not to put a TOYOTA 1GZ V12 in it.
We will fit one to something one day, rest assured, but not this Aston
