I'm a Motion Capture performer and in late 2015 I was in contact with Capcom about the facial likeness role of Leon for the Resident Evil 2 Remake. the difficulty jump to the baseball question was a bit unexpected. here in germany you dont hear anything about baseball. its mainly football(soccer) and a little bit handball. the only reason why i even know baseball exists is due to anime and wii sports.

      because even though the US counts as one country its so big that you cant really see it as one.
      saying "i am from the US" is basically like saying " i am from europe". they want to be more precise.
      if the "bundesländer" in germany were not so small and irrelevant i would mention mine too, because its a relatively big difference where you come from even in such a small country.
      so its reasonable to mention their state, considering the size.

    • @francoislechanceux5818
      @francoislechanceux5818 11 месяцев назад

      @@CrolyGiart I love your answer but strangely it's not the answer to the question he tried to ask. I say "tried" because he made a mistake himself in his question and that misled you in your answer.
      In his question he said "Americans say they are from the state" but what he wanted to say was that "Americans say they are from the States." Nuance. Because he said 'state' rather than 'States', you thought he was saying that Americans name their individual state as the country they are from. That's not what he was saying. He indirectly misled you.
      To answer his question: Americans say they are from the States because they like shortening name of certain things to make it more fanciful. The "States" in their answer is the short form of the name "United States of America" and of the USA.
      It's like Bill Clinton for William Jefferson Clinton. Or Jimmy Carter for James Carter III or Tony for Anthony or Lisa for Elizabeth or Maggie for Margaret etc
      So yes, Americans are as much correct to say they are from the "States" as you will be correct to call Lisa somebody whose name is Elisabeth.

    I find the last question was kinda unfair. It was more international/sports related rather than Japan related. As most of the people in the videk said noone watches baseball except Japanese and Americans and it's non existant in the rest of the world so even a "world record breaking" champion would not be someone everyone would know unless you are personally interested. The rest of tge questions were easy basic knowledge. Even the manga question was kinda specific but today eceryone watches/reads anime and manga so they woyld have heard it from somewhere. So yeah. Last q was unfair to the girl who easily got every other question right.

      Its a question to test people living in Japan. When i walk out there, i see his face everywhere literally more than 5 times an hour. No need to watch baseball. Its pretty impossible to miss if you pay attention to your surroundings and have some curiosity to know whats happening where you live.

    Great channel! Is it just me but I noticed when you ask anyone else from the rest of the world outside of the US, where they're from, they will always say the city/state assuming the whole world should know? I mean most will, but there's always that assumption. Whereas, anyone else from literally any other country than the US would literally just say the country...

    • @iamcourtneyrobinson
      @iamcourtneyrobinson 4 месяца назад

      It's because the US is soooooo big and because of that and each city/state is entirely different in terms of culture etc. We just want you know and understand where we are really from.

    Honestly Tokyo is not the capital of Japan, Japan's capital can be moving around as the Emperor moves.
    That's why Kyoto was the capital for ancient Japan, because Emperor lives there. Then later Emperor move to the East side where the city was more developed than Kyoto, and people started call this place the "Eastern Capital"
    Kyoto=京都, Kyo(京) = capital, to(都) = city
    Tokyo=東京, To(東) = East, Kyo(京) = capital
    To here is written in different characters, even though they all pronounced as "To", but they have different meaning.
    You could say Tokyo is the capital of Japan because Emperor does live in there now, but technically speaking the capital of Japan should be "where ever Emperor lives"
