No yeah the original Chinese audio drama is super faithful to the novel! If you watch a “try not to laugh” video about Wei Wuxian’s shameless sayings, he literally tells Lan Sizhui and Lan Jingyi that he “likes men and with so many good-looking men in Gusu, [he] may not be able to control [himself]” and that he “still needs to find a good man” and he literally says “I’m into men.” ruclips.net/video/vY5fu2h5yx8/видео.html So please give the original a chance as well, as it’s amazingly done! But that being said, Chinese censorship varies depending on the adaptation. So for example: live-action dramas are more strictly monitored and Mo Xuanyu is portrayed only as a crazy man. Donghua is a little looser and Mo Xuanyu is rumoured to be capable of falling in love with “anything.” But from my experiences, books and audio dramas and even manhua can get away with a _lot_ more. The manhua even has a Wangxian kiss drawn that got leaked even though it was technically “cut out” of the official latest chapter, and the audio drama and book have _so_ many acknowledgements about the romance/gayness.

whoa...I didn't realize I could distinguish Chinese and Japanese from each other, but after listening/watching Chinese dramas for the last couple of months, I do hear a difference between the two! Very interesting! haha
Never in my life finding Japanese names to be hard, but when u finally able to memorise the Chinese names of them all, u suddenly realised u have to memorise the Japanese version of the names now... xD Anyway, I'm still smiling from ear to ear as Japanese has always have good voice acting skills~ I'm so in love with their voices as always(Chinese r good too esp nowadays their VA aren't as bad too~)~ I hope they would dub the Anime too & add more fanservices for us! xD
Good news, if you don't know they already did the Japanese dub and I can tell you it's soooo good. The lead actors, Ryohei Kimura (as WWX/MXY) and Shinnosuke Tachibana as Lan Wanji are great in portraying their characters. I hope you already watched those dubbed versions. S3 will come out next year January.

I don't think there will be any censorship in Japanese coz they r mostly quite open. That's my opinion coz there are so many BL CD Dramas from Japan & have all those moan scenes. So they probably don't have censorship.
Mo Dao Zu Shi is the first donghua I've watch and truly fell in love with. Before all that, I watched a ton of anime (and still do) so even with Japanese dub it sounds both different and normal for me. It's like watching an japanese anime :)) I truly love both the Chinese and Japanese. I'd watch it either way tbvh ^^

I don't think there will be any censorship in Japanese coz they r mostly quite open. That's my opinion coz there are so many BL CD Dramas from Japan & have all those moan scenes. So they probably don't have censorship.

Mo Dao Zu Shi is the first donghua I've watch and truly fell in love with. Before all that, I watched a ton of anime (and still do) so even with Japanese dub it sounds both different and normal for me. It's like watching an japanese anime :)) I truly love both the Chinese and Japanese. I'd watch it either way tbvh ^^
