At first, the animation was an eyesore (aside from Shen Qing Qiu) but I have to say that as I've kept rewatching this its been.. growing on me a whole lot. Ive never read any danmei before this one, but even so, this was a great introduction to common tropes found in those types of stories. The book being hilarious also helped a whole lot with getting the romance (and SQQ's complete miscommunication. Never before have I seen another guy so full of leaps in logic as me before. Damn.) After reading the novel I now understand why fans are so dedicated and still hoping for a season 2. I hope we all get to see it in our lifetimes. In the meantime, on to listen to the opening theme again (its a certified banger)
Honestly I understand why the s2 is getting so postponed or maybe cancelled in general. Because Luo BingHe being in love with Shen Qingqiu and having such an obvious infatuation with him is a very important part of the plot. Which is difficult to see as anything other than gay because the original story is known to us. That being said, I still am hoping for s2. 😭

At some point Shen qinqiu gets caught and is locked up beneath Huan hua palace. He escapes and dies comes back in another body he was making. Finds out Luo binghe kept the body. Idrk what happens then but Luo binghe tries to save sq from lb father. They escape together. And i kinda forgot what happens then cause its been a while since i read it and i wanna reread. But they have a happy ending. (Sry it's not a good summary but i think these where the most important things that happen and I'm gonna reread soon)

@@high945 this video gets to about the end of the 4th chapter in the seven seas english version or about the end of chapter 28 of the original web novel ("Endless Abyss Part 3"). but there really is an abrupt cut after the spiders, so probably good to start around webnovel chapter 25 ("Endless Abyss Part 1") (which is still chapter 4 in the seven seas version). there are a few differences between the animation and the novel, but they probably won't cause too much confusion. the biggest changes i've noticed are shen qingqiu speaking out loud to the system and showing his panic instead of projecting an air of Coolness at all times, and shen qingqiu's abilities being "unlocked" via the system, rather than something he either has inherently or has to learn the old fashioned way. the original shen qingqiu's fate in the novel is also a bit more gruesome than in the animation. (shen qingqiu is also only in the lingxi caves for several months instead of three years. this doesn't change much, but it's notable that luo binghe is somewhat younger during sha hualing's invasion and the subsequent dream demon scenes. he's still about 17-18 during the immortal alliance conference/congress, though.) also if you were wanting a conclusion to liu mingyan and gongyi xiao's fights, those were unfortunately not a part of the novel. (but minor novel spoilers: they both survive the immortal alliance conference as a whole.)

@@high945 this video gets to about the end of the 4th chapter in the seven seas english version or about the end of chapter 28 of the original web novel ("Endless Abyss Part 3"). but there really is an abrupt cut after the spiders, so probably good to start around webnovel chapter 25 ("Endless Abyss Part 1") (which is still chapter 4 in the seven seas version).
there are a few differences between the animation and the novel, but they probably won't cause too much confusion. the biggest changes i've noticed are shen qingqiu speaking out loud to the system and showing his panic instead of projecting an air of Coolness at all times, and shen qingqiu's abilities being "unlocked" via the system, rather than something he either has inherently or has to learn the old fashioned way. the original shen qingqiu's fate in the novel is also a bit more gruesome than in the animation.
(shen qingqiu is also only in the lingxi caves for several months instead of three years. this doesn't change much, but it's notable that luo binghe is somewhat younger during sha hualing's invasion and the subsequent dream demon scenes. he's still about 17-18 during the immortal alliance conference/congress, though.)
also if you were wanting a conclusion to liu mingyan and gongyi xiao's fights, those were unfortunately not a part of the novel. (but minor novel spoilers: they both survive the immortal alliance conference as a whole.)
