- Something I hadn't planned on doing to the van but really wanted to happened! We got a pop top roof fitted! Massive thank you to the Skyline roofs team for a great product that has been fitted so well! We went for the Syline Aurora LWB Roof with the Bi folding bed board to give us a little more headroom. Just need to get the rest of the van done now so we can get away in it! If you are considering a poptop hit the guys at Skline up.

When I was in Dream Mode when I was planing to do a Van conversion about 4/5 years ago I had Skyline saved in my Van build folder, then the size of the van escalated to then wanting to then convert the Boxer/Relay van due to the width of them and being almost able to sleep traverse as well as having the kids in a bunk bed system. To that then becoming getting an A class as the Wife didn't want to wait ages for me to do the conversion.
The van look s the dogs dangles when aired out and there didn't look to be any movement when you got in the van to put the roof up. Makes me want to do a conversion again.
Coach built are a lot easier to just buy and enjoy!
Oh dear, my pop top is looking tired and this is making me rethink things.

Well done Skyline, the workmanship is great and the mechanical locking mechanism is a brilliant idea. Wish I had seen this two years ago as although the roof I have is great it’s very badly fitted.
So well fitted. Was nice to see the fit all the way through and see the attention to detail in the process. Locking mechanism is brilliant. No faffing around with straps etc. There are unfortunately some very badly fitted roofs out there by people that are only interested in your money, Not doing a good job.
@@DanChambersDAC Mine is an Austop which in fairness is a great roof and has made a huge difference just like yours and we’ve had some brilliant holidays with it fitted.
When I collected the van after fitting there was metal flakes all over it so obviously didn’t use a polythene cover to protect the van. Had to take it back because it really creaked driving down the road which the fitter sorted at the time but this has come back. More recently I had the headlining down from the cab to run some cables and fit some lights but noticed the front brace above the cab has been fastened with tech screws in ridiculous angles. There factory fitted captive nuts in the structure of the vehicle that lines up with bolt holes in the brace, I’m guessing there should be bolts and another guess is that’s why it is creaking again. A lot of cowboys out there which is why your video is so important showing great workmanship.

That conversion is amazing it looks like the van came out of the factory with it already fitted and very professional install. The T5 is looking more like a camper now Dan and again I can see from the huge grin that you like it, plus it looks sic when it's aired out👏🙏👍

Yes Dan!! The perfect choice 😎👍🏻 I’ve had a Skyline poptop and Rusty Lee rock n roll bed for the last 3 years and they’re amazing. The guys there are fab and offer an amazing service. Quality.

Top pop-up roof is a great feature, but sawing a large hole has safety concerns.
How did you strengthen the structure? Can it reach the strength of the original car?
nice, i've been umming and ah-ing about getting windows put in my panel T5 and those guys are about 20 mins from where I live, so probably time to give them a call :)
I really like the look of a van with windows in and it makes daily driving them much easier too

That T5 is looking class now Dan, well done. I have a T5 with a original skyline roof, and one of those reading lights in the roof too. My advice would be to pull the fuses for those lights when the roof is down, while bringing the roof down and folding the canvas I've caught the light switch on and not realised, then wondered why I had a draw from the leisure battery. Obviously it made the light bloomin hot too! Great videos bud, been following the channel a while, keep up the good work!

Love it Dan. I’ve recently had a Skyline roof fitted and was torn between the Aurora and standard! Went for the standard in the end! Exact same finish as yours other than that. They are top quality I reckon and instantly transform your van into a camper. Looking forward to seeing your next move!

Cheers dude, What roof did you go for? Do the lower profile ones lose head height inside?
@@DanChambersDAC I went for the Hilo (which unfortunately isn't a thing anymore)... It's so stealth looking you honestly can't tell it has a pop top unless you know what to look for. And yes, you lose a little internal head room, but depending on your bed setup (RIB Vs rock and roll) it's fine. The day after your video was released, I saw that skyline had started advertising their LWB skylow 😳

This s turning out absolutely gorgeous totally love the colour of the van and the roof makes it look really cool. Top job and well fitted, it will make the world of difference to how comfortable you feel with being by able to stand upright inside when the bed is up too. Of course you are going to get the van body done up perfect now? None of this I’ll just do a bit… DAC is too good not to 😎👍✅✅✅✅

Hi Dan your van is looking so good. How do you find the 2.5 engine as I have only ever owned a 1.9 and a 2.0.
All the other T5 I have had have been 1.9 and they are very slow. The 2.5 actually get going when you put your foot down! If it ever went bang I wouldn’t spend a penny on it though as they cost a lot. I would engine swap the van.

That sliding cover is such a shit design, mine fell out of its runners and landed on my dads legs while he was asleep downstairs.
Also that sharp metal clip they put on rips your clothes as you get up and down. Throw it in the bin it’s horrible !

@@DanChambersDAC Just a LWB Citroen Relay mate. I am wanting to do most of the work myself but there's a few things that I want someone else to do as I'm scared and that is the window's, underslung gas tank and the carpet lining. Everything else Im pretty sure I can do
