- You may have all see my dream pre face T5 camper van we're working on (if not check back a few videos) This thing has to have the best of the best of everything. So when it came to the pop top roof, it had to be the new Horizon ultra low roof. Everyone know's we like our vehicles LOW here at Transporter HQ. With this in mind, its to be expected we'd want our elevating roof low too. Well there is no lower pop top than the Horizon pop top roof. Having a low roof doesn't mean to you have to sacrifice high inside though. The Horizon has the best of both world. The lowest on the market when down, the highest on the market when up. What is this wizardry I hear you cry!! Watch the video and we'll explain in more detail.
Not only do they look so good being low, but there is also the practical element to that. No more ducking when you going through those low car park barriers. The Horizon pop top roof is only 15mm higher than a standard VW Transporter roof. Yep, more witchcraft. Mind blown!!!

Really like how low the roof sits but definitely need another video showing the locking mechanism and full opening and closing of the roof.

I had a HiLo roof fitted to my VW T5.1 LWB day van conversion a couple of years ago. It looks great down and you can't tell the roof is fitted unless you get up close. It looks a bit wierd when it's up and the canvas is closed as it's so narrow and tall. We found it too narrow to comfortably sleep 2 adults, it doesn't fit 2 standard self inflating camping matresses side by side. We sleep exclusively in the van on the caravelle 3 seater bench with a slidepod and a full width/length memory foam matress. It's great for head room, storage and sitting chilling with the canvas opened up. Although it doesn't suffer from wind noise it does have an annoying squeak on country roads right above the cab. I'm not sure if that's just my install and can't compare it to other Pop Tops as I've no experience with using any.

We had one of the first horizon pop tops fitted last year, it is really a game changer. People are unaware we even have a pop top until it goes up. The hardest thing about getting it was deciding which colour canvas to go for!

VA fitted one of the last Hilo's to my SWB T6, and I love it. The standing height is brilliant, and i always choose to sleep up there even though I've got a Reimo Variotech bed in the back

Is the bi folding bed a wooden board set up? And can the roof be in the closed position with a mattress in place?

Yes they aren't cheap but there is good reason why. For budget they don't suit everyone, but if people want the best and have the funds, the Horizon is as good as it gets.
Seen these roofs at Dubs in the middle. Had a chat with the guy. It’s the new company for the HiLo roof. Great product but just looked at the price for my lwb. OUCH 😳😳😳
Yes they aren't cheap but it's easy to see why. Most others on the market are Reimo copies (all be it very good copies) The Horizon has a lot more to it than that. I appreciate for budget, they aren't for everyone though.

Love this! I've got a scenic canvas top in my T6, but it doesn't zip away as far as this! Love how low this one sits and the reduced wind noise would be a bonus. The height it lifts to is amazing! Would this be able to be retrofitted to a van that already has a pop-top? Cheers fellas! 🤟
Yes they really are amazing. Yes these can be retrofitted to a vehicle with an existing roof.

Thx for another great product video! Being 6"4, pop top has never made to the list of things to get, due to me being highly claustrophobic and the wind noise I've been hearing about, this certainly changed all those. Do you offer fitting at THQ🤗?
I know that feel. I was never claustrophobic until a went caving a Budapest 😱 Thar ruined me 🤪

I've always wanted a pop top on my van, but I do a lot of watersports. The load rating and the faff of having to unstrap boards to lift the roof every time you parked up has always put me off. With these being 'heavier duty' what max weight can go on the roof and the hinges and gas struts still be ok? Thanks guys and love the channel. Cheers
There is no office load rating. The roof has been tested with 2 surf boards and lifted with no issue. It's also been tested with a ridged SUP again with no issues.

My T6 already has furniture in. Can this pop top still be installed without taking furniture out out?

What do you mean? Power flex do camber adjusting rear bushes. Is that what you're after?
@@THQAutomotive when they a lowers that low they are so far forward. Is there anything to battle it because it’s an issue that’s puts me off going this low
This van is on air suspension. Its sat like this as its aired out. When lifted to a ride height, it will look normal. I think thats what you mean?

What awning rail does van have fitted? Is it a standard gully one fitted under the hinges?
Hello, these don't have awning rails. I'd go with a California rail though. VW do them and I believe several companies do a decent replica.
I'm sure the bronze one had a silver version of the minimal rails in the video but no bother. Will look at some options.

Do you have a video of the roof closed from inside the van - is there a hole/gap above the driver or is it fully closed with a sliding hatch?
Yes there is a sliding hatch to cover it off completely
Would love to see a video of the locking mechanism too - how does it secure? Is it straps or bolts like some of the Skylines?

Sorry I see what you mean now. A blank is produced to fit in the existing hole and the antenna is relocated behind the dash so its still functions as it should. I hope this helps. @@Filmchippy
Where do you store the mattress when the lid is down?
In the roof. Horizon have an inflatable with a return pump so you can suck the air out. this can then stay in the roof

@@nickpalmer2574 they are separate so can you removed to be cleaned. Also not everyone wants a bed, they have a pop top for height and don't use the bed.

Does it come with a mattress?
It doesn't come as standard but the approved Horizon installer can supply an air mattress with pump. The reversible pump can also suck the air out so the mattress can live in the roof when travelling.
