Such a deep movie. So many children go unheard by adults that refuse to listen. I will ALWAYS be the voice fighting for them! Every child deserves a loving safe home.
Absolutely every child deserves a loving safe home. My daughter is a social worker and she’s just starting out in this work. I am super sad to say that in a few years after seeing all the bad out there that she’s going to be disillusioned. Right now she’s fighting for the kids and I mean she is a kid person. I hope it stays this way.
Foster boy was so good. This young man stayed in 14 foster homes and suffered rape, being beaten, put in cage. He was so brave to sue and be so emotionally stable to take this step. I love the fact that the lawyer and young man learned from each other and helped improve both lives. Young man received $32 million in damages.I am going to watch movie again. So brave and smart.
Unfortunately, the 32 million that he was awarded probably was not received because the company could afford to keep this in court for years. The owner of the company said wait for a while it’ll die down and then we will hit them so we know that they’re gonna fight back. Jamal might be awarded some of the money but I bet he never ever saw the 32 million.
We need more movies like this that shine a light on the injustice in the system instead of all the glamor one sees at the academy awards. These are much more important than those.
I cant believe the comments!! The seriousness of this subject seems to be overlooked, abusive power over minors which happens in every country to many kids. As a foster MaMa of 26 years this broke my heart… I just can’t fathom the abuse and cruelty that precious and vulnerable children are subjected to at the very hands of those entrusted to care… We have received broken little people into our home , broken from the very system they were placed in to … It takes years to gently peel back the layers and rebuild… Countless hours I have cried and prayed with every fibre of my being that our love will help heal the wounds. A wonderful, wonderful movie!!! Very well done!! So I guess this is true about our foster care system?! And my son got to be in foster care a very short while up in Alaska!!! And thank the Lord that he had a wonderful foster couple, a Hispanic fellow, married to a white, Caucasian gal!! And they were wonderful!! Thank you too the main actor here or the two main actors!! The fellow who played the lawyer, and the young man who played Jamal!!! And all the other great actors and actresses!!! This was very emotional and very well done! Thank you to the Director and everybody else who supported all this behind the scenes also!! You are all to be commended!!!! ❤

Absolutely an excellent movie!!! There are a lot of great foster families out there. But it deeply concerns me of the abusive ones where the foster child has no say and therefore the intense anger just builds up inside of them and no one hears their silent screams.
That is scary especially to the bright child who is being abused by his/her real parent/parents and they have a good understanding of the foster care system. Your basically asking the kid to take a chance and stay with the abusive parents, or take a gamble in the foster system. Maybe it will be good, or maybe it would be worse than what you already have. Sad situation.
The system continuously fail because of a dollar amount. Monetary is more important to them than the life of a child. This movie was very emotional for me but in the end a $32M settlement put a big smile on my face.

Having to go through most of what he went through I had to walk away from the movie while still listening to it because it was painful knowing it actually happened to me. “Well produced film from start to finish “
Movies like this are very important in relation to shinning a light on the dehumanizing of children in care! Social Worker here and I have worked with Aboriginal/Criminal Justice for over 45+ yrs and we are beginning to make changes for the better - a long way to go but getting the public to realize just how deep and pervasive child abuse is, particularly SA and Satanic abuse! Goes right to the highest echelons of government, Hollywood, residential schools and the constant sexualizing and grooming of children apparently in every system - education - health - food - security etc….
A truly fantastic movie which highlights the abuse within some of the foster systems and the financial gain for those involved. The victims are the children, the silent ones, who are usually too frightened to tell the truth for fear of further punishment or abuse. A sad indictment of our times!

Tried to foster. The system not only traumatized the kids but us as well. People even ADMITTED they had lied, retaliated against us didn't read case files, or were just plain biased WHILE ON THE WITNESS STAND! Took us 22, 000.00 dollars to get our niece and nephew OUT OF THE SYSTEM.
Brilliant movie. 2 unlikelys brought togeather to tell a story. A story to shock, and compassion to learn the truth. The system has its flaws, but it can be fixed.
No one hears the silent tears of children and of the abused. You don't have to be a foster child to have experience abuse while you were a child. ,, as adults we often face abuse and cruelty. Racism causes PTSD but it's the 21st century the year of Our Lord 2024 and every day because of the color of our skin we face microaggression and racial discrimination and blatant racism. While this movie may be hard to watch adults Behavior towards a child. We are hard-pressed to take a look in the mirror as adults and the type of pain inflicted on adults that causes abuse funneled down to children innocent children. Someday we're going to all have to face the judgement bar of the creator and give an account.🎉 adult monsters are created.😮
Such a powerful, emotional film.. A strong lesson to be learned by all social workers out there! Who think they are doing the best for children when in fact they are only boosting their own egos! Not all are bad but in the end they have to do what they are told to do .. in the mean time millions of kids lives are being destroyed.. When will this system change????
Incredible movie. This should b aired on natl TV as a help and warning ! Foster care is obviously necessary but needs gvmt inervention and a detailed clearinghouse, restrictions, laws and much investigation. This "cleaning up" process would giv addl US citizens some jobs. This movie was a poignant story but necessary education. It was brilliantly performed. Very impressive. I was glued to the screen. So very happy with the successful ending and hope many culprits wer placed in prison. 🙏 🤞 TU UT !
Thank you so much for posting this movie. I had never heard of it. The wonderful Matthew Modine was superb, as usual, as were the whole cast. Was so glad it just happened to pop up and I chose to watch it. It hit close to home for me. Far too many childhoods are stolen leaving broken, abused and ‘disposable’ lives ruined along the way. My blood was boiling and my heart breaking for Jamal & all the others like him. Hard to watch but a subject that needs to be exposed so much more. Great movie and much appreciated.😢💔
Great movie about foster care and the abuse that don't get reported. The public have to do their part...see it report it, you suspect something report it, hear something report it, child behaviour change report it, child start talking different report it. We need to do our part.
How people view you is the way they treat you. Especially if you are poor . People will know that some authorians have shady ways on the job and their coworkers will just turn a blind eye. The children care system is broken , the mindset of the workers needs to change into caring ,skillful ways . The children are our future, nurture them the right way and our society will become one of productivity and success. Great show, it really touched my heart.
For all the children that are in foster care now I would say probably half of them don't really need to be. I've seen the system with my own eyes go into healthy families and pull their families apart by the seams. I've seen them with my own eyes destroyed children innocent children. The whole system is corrupt and needs brought down.
Wow! Almost didn't watch this but so pleased I did! I imagine the system is bent but for the few good ones intent on doing good by the ones in their care and not just for the dosh. Thank god for those 🤗💕
I was fostered aged 2_8 and age 13_16 and children's homes aged 10_13 17_18 from. 74_90. unfortunately both sets of foster parents were abusive, the first physical and emotional, the 2nd emotionally abusive. My foster mum even said we could have you bricked up and no one would know One of the homes I was in is under investigation I scored 10/10 of ACEs social services apologised for letting me down. . I've had such trumua and used this to help other children over the yrs in my work Heartbreaking what some children go through especially in the care system 😢
Waaaa I am breathless, what a sad story for a black child growing in America and yet still the system and the society at large takes him to jail ohhhh heartbreaking 😮
I always passing this movie on RUclips straight but decided to watch it today I never regret watching it this world is such a curel place hmmm i felt his pain nice story thanks for sharing it made me cry intended to watch it again 😢😢❤
these children dont all come from irresponsible parents!! Some are orphaned, some come from parents with mental health issues hitting them after their childrens births...I wont keep listing the reasons that kids are put into foster care but there are definately more than irresponsible parents.
the movie at time can seem a bit romanticised, as unfortunately not all of us, ex foster children will always have an happy ending. However, after years of darkness, i feel blessed that I am still here telling my story and I am thankful for movies like this that highlight the shadow of the system. I hope that no more child will have to hear the phrase "you should feel lucky that a family has taken you". God bless you all
This is so heartbreaking. Jamal did not deserve any of this. None of those kids did because of her. thank God, he got some justice, though in the end and his lawyer done an awesome job after he started believing the ending was the best.
Wow, that was deep! I was a part of the foster system briefly and was glad to be able to go back to live with my father. I've seen some shady things and most of the time the child is better off with their own family with counseling and other services to help them.
Wow! I cried like a baby. I wasn't sure I was going to like this movie, as Matthew Modine has never been one of my favorites. Once I saw Louis Gosset Jr, I knew it would be a great one! What a powerful story this is. It had a tremendous affect on me. I have heard this type of thing goes on, but I guess I didn't want to believe it? My eyes have been opened WIDE! Thank you for this movie!
I never heard of this movie before but it is a keeper. The acting is superb, the actor who played Jamal was absolutely outstanding and Matthew Modine this was his best role. Also, the young lady who played Keisha was good too.
I’ve watched this movie over a dozen times. Everyone I see it @ the forefront of my feed, I have to watch it again. Justice served. (Especially when all the pieces of the puzzle fall into place.)
The sad thing is that this movie is based on actual cases that the film-maker worked on as an attorney. I worked in a Juvenile Dentention Centre in my country, Guyana, where I encountered boys and girls who have suffered from some of the worst forms of abuse, often by family members. We live in an extremely cruel world where even the most vulnerable among us are trampled upon. It's a very sad reality. I often felt like screaming. It pains me everyday that the very people who are supposed to PROTECT the children, are the ones that VIOLATE them. The world needs more people to stand up for kids. May God help us all.
It's my second time to watch this movie coz I am fond of watching trials in court. This was a good movie to watch especially those running a foster homes.Pls.treat those foster children as your own child coz they also needs a true love & care which they didn't experienced from their own parents. I"m in tears watching this coz Jamal was been fostered 12x & suffered tremendous pain, hardly beaten, put into cage as if he's an animal but the worst experienced he had was when he was raped for 3 years & no action from the foster care. Thanks to his counsel who believes in him & to all the jurors who found the dependant guilty & asked to pay Jamal $32M.
Watching from Ethiopia - Africa, what a movie, as a father having kids this movie teaches us a lot that we shouldn't blink our eyes from our kids,as much as possible.
I was in the system and I had a horrible experience from bad abusive foster parents and their biological children (adults) but I'm still in contact with my foster sisters from my last home
I was in foster care as a little child I was at Great oaks village in Orlando they were wonderful with me they treated me with so much love the story that I hear from other foster children I think God everyday that I was placed in a place that treated me with so much love I was already going through so much trauma already
A very touching movie that is sadly the reality of some poor kid. May God love cover and protect these little ones from the demons that lie in wait to destroy them. Sadly, society seems to be unaware of their plight or just blatantly ignores what is going on in these "safe" places. We are our brothers keeper. May God help us all.
Was very touching. I was even crying. Teaches us alot of what happens with children and they are not able to express themselves when things like that happen. It totally destroys a child mentally and physically. Some people are just interested in the money. Thats why money is the root of all evil....😢
I am about halfway through. I keep having to stop for a while so that I can breathe. It's very triggering as far as what I went through with my own mother, which was not even half as bad as this. It just breaks my heart knowing what children go through often at the hands of their own parents.. i would say more but I am just too upset 😢
Excellent movie and great cast..this one caught me by surprise. As always, its the children who suffer the most. This wasnt all about the money from a settlement, its about uncovering the corruption within the system. There are some awesome foster parents in it that truly love and want to help children. Its the monsters behind the paperwork and the bad fosters that are only in it for profit that makes it bad. The agencies need to be checking on these kids more closely and monitor each situation. But that also takes extra staff and funding. If our govt can keep sending bilions to foreign countries and housing and feeding illegals then they should have enough to take care of our own children properly in our systens..
If at all possible, take care of your babies. The loving, caring, nurturing foster homes are the exception. This movie depicts what happens in the majority of them. Any horrible, disgusting, lowdown thing you can imagine, the devil has already done it. We are not ignorant of Satan's devices 🙏!!!
The loving nurturing foster homes are few and far between. The good ones usually only take babies. I was seven when I went in care and I never got any nurturing. I only dreamt about it.
Everywhere he turned he gets hurt. What a story! With a big bright opened eyes. No one feels the pain so no one knew what he went through. Even now it stii happen.
What a great movie! So many great wonderful actors I've watched thru the years! Such an important topic even today. Hope the problems can be worked out. There are many issues in family services I think too with abuse so easily hidden and workers over worked and understaffed. I was molested by family members several times at age 5. While not the same system... still the same effects of PTSD syndrome, behavior issues, trust issues...I got psychological treatment and counselling therapy for several years. Well that was in my 30's after going to rehab and started remembering it!!! I can relate to this and know some of the impact abuse can have on you! So thank you thank you thank you all who made this story and movie! Top notch!!+❤
i dont understand why kids in foster care are given to bad people there are good families out there . id love to do foster care but because i cant afford to put new prettier flooring in three rooms and remodel my working bath room my house wont qualify even though its a livable home.. and id have to take a class for several months that isnt in my town i wouldnt qualify with out and who knows if they would even approve me at 45 years old. totally stupid because ive raised 3 kids of my own, 1 of my nieces for 5 years, taken care of countless number of children through the years while my kids were growing up and am now watching my granddaughter off and on when my daughter has to work and will be a grand ma to 2 other grand kids this year without any classes. so its ok to be a parent to a child with out classes but not foster a child with out classes. um excuse me i would take care of foster child just fine like they were my own. to many whoops to jump through for most that is one reason so many kids stuck in group homes ect when they could be with a loving family .

Mr. Louis Gossett, youv'e made your mark on mankind May you find Favor in the next dimension..R.I.P.
Excellent 😅🌷👊🏻
Amen!!!!
So sad , so very sad to know that this happens within the system . Greedy despicable people do obscene things for money and destroy innocent lives .
I agree you are absolutely correct!
🔥 Wonderful story line, great acting and a light up of a corrupted people that only cares about the money.
Great movie! Glad justice was served although it can't erase the pain victims have endured mentally, emotionally and physically.
Very good story and excellent acting by Jamal - to find the right parents for foster care cant be easy but the system obviously needs cleaning up.
Great movie about foster care and the abuse that don't get reported. The public have to do their part...see it report it, you suspect something report it, hear something report it, child behaviour change report it, child start talking different report it. We need to do our part.
R.i.p louis Gossett jr
How people view you is the way they treat you. Especially if you are poor . People will know that some authorians have shady ways on the job and their coworkers will just turn a blind eye. The children care system is broken , the mindset of the workers needs to change into caring ,skillful ways . The children are our future, nurture them the right way and our society will become one of productivity and success. Great show, it really touched my heart.
Wow what a great movie. Thanks for showing it for free on RUclips.
Thank god for those 🤗💕
What an absolutely much needed movie.... ❤ there was something for all of us to learn by.... loved it!
Okay, like I Totally Cried like a baby while watching this film 😢 This Is Real!!! Grab some Tissues before watching 😢
So did I, its even more painful when one feels helpless to help.
Outstanding. So good to see justice being done.
I always passing this movie on RUclips straight but decided to watch it today I never regret watching it this world is such a curel place hmmm i felt his pain nice story thanks for sharing it made me cry intended to watch it again 😢😢❤
Great movie! The plot, acting and direction are really good. Thank you!
Wow! Absolutely nice movie😊😊😊😊. At least there is still true law on earth for the abused children abandoned by their irresponsible parents.
these children dont all come from irresponsible parents!! Some are orphaned, some come from parents with mental health issues hitting them after their childrens births...I wont keep listing the reasons that kids are put into foster care but there are definately more than irresponsible parents.
Excellent movie, the corruption is a disgrace. Unfortunately, big money will always win. Cheers Rosemary Western Australia 73yrs
God always wins.
God bless 🙏
This was a powerful movie the young boy played his part and his attorney started out slow but showed who He was the whole cast Did a great job
the movie at time can seem a bit romanticised, as unfortunately not all of us, ex foster children will always have an happy ending.
Miss I can’t speak to you out of court the lawyer should have said!
Loved how the judge told the attorney assigned to Jamal right off to his face. Outstanding !
I was in the system and I had a horrible experience from bad abusive foster parents and their biological children (adults) but I'm still in contact with my foster sisters from my last home
One of the best heartfelt movies I have seen in a long time..👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Jamal played his character so well
Rich & poor brought together
Brilliant movie
I was in foster care as a little child I was at Great oaks village in Orlando they were wonderful with me they treated me with so much love the story that I hear from other foster children I think God everyday that I was placed in a place that treated me with so much love I was already going through so much trauma already
Very good movie. Good script, good acting good everything
Welfare has too much power and foster parents don't get checked up on nearly enough. No accountability in the system hardly at all
I cried for all of us. So many memories.. So many of us. We will overcome. We will survive and rise like a Phoenix from the ashes
This reality is the reality of many children.
A very moving and emotional story about child abuse and thr so called care system. I been down that road I know the tracks.
Love 💕 and kindness
Thank you for this important movie
Was very touching. I was even crying. Teaches us alot of what happens with children and they are not able to express themselves when things like that happen. It totally destroys a child mentally and physically. Some people are just interested in the money. Thats why money is the root of all evil....😢
Money isn't the root of all evil, money is a tool that can be used for good or bad. Its actually the love of money thats the root of all evil.
Excellent movie. Great court room story. I love it.
Had to watch this again, I did 3yrs ago.
Great story that reviews the evil that happens in foster homes and negligence of those in authorities.
I am about halfway through. I keep having to stop for a while so that I can breathe. It's very triggering as far as what I went through with my own mother, which was not even half as bad as this. It just breaks my heart knowing what children go through often at the hands of their own parents.. i would say more but I am just too upset 😢
"continuing objections noted. Now continuing to sit down."
It's an awesome movie.
The story is brutal and gripping. If u understand the legal system, it's a bit frustrating bc there's so many things off
A very moving film. Abuse very realistically portrayed. All to real 😢
Brought back so many memories when I was in foster care
The man on the jet, I'm assuming they will fill bankruptcy just to get out of paying. This is the sad part of the American way
I was in foster care until I was 10 years old. Then I was put in an orphanage for 16 months before being adopted.
So touching praying for all the foster children's 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Wasn't expecting such an amazing story! Loved it💟
If at all possible, take care of your babies.
I cried😥 then look at my child and cried harder😭
Mr Lawyer! Thank you for having faith in Jamal. Best Lawyer ever.
1q😂😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅❤
Watching movies like these make me get strength, courage, wisdom and faith in myself and people around me in this life 😢😢😢😢
This was a very touching one for me . Showing of strength, hope and prayer.
Justice prevailed. Brilliant movie.
i dont understand why kids in foster care are given to bad people there are good families out there . id love to do foster care but because i cant afford to put new prettier flooring in three rooms and remodel my working bath room my house wont qualify even though its a livable home.. and id have to take a class for several months that isnt in my town i wouldnt qualify with out and who knows if they would even approve me at 45 years old. totally stupid because ive raised 3 kids of my own, 1 of my nieces for 5 years, taken care of countless number of children through the years while my kids were growing up and am now watching my granddaughter off and on when my daughter has to work and will be a grand ma to 2 other grand kids this year without any classes. so its ok to be a parent to a child with out classes but not foster a child with out classes. um excuse me i would take care of foster child just fine like they were my own. to many whoops to jump through for most that is one reason so many kids stuck in group homes ect when they could be with a loving family .
Bless you
You are so kind

I scrolled past this several times over a few days, not wanting the emotional stress of movies like this judging by the description.😊
So glad I finally watched it. Shocking, heartbreaking, sad, sad, sad!!!!😢
Wonderful ending. So much understanding, respect, breaking of the mould: "Three Piece."
"Thug."
