Tbf the reason why Ginyu managed to use Tagoma's full power is because they have the same brand of strength: Brute Force The might makes right mentality made both of them simply want to increase their raw power level with no gimmicks or technique. Their power level is all they had, & that simplicity lets Ginyu take over Tagoma's full powered body far more easily. While Goku's power level, though pretty high in his base form, could be increased through a plethora of skills & techniques he learned through training. Stuff that took him years to master And needed a tutor to teach him, which would allow Goku to optimise his strength in ways Ginyu could never figure out on his own. Now, let's consider the fact that Goku's max power level with no technique was around 85~90 000. When Ginyu took over his body, he could only draw out 20 000. This shows that Ginyu can barely even optimise power level raising when he's in a body with such a different brand of power. Maybe through some adjustement time, he would be able to draw Goku's full base power to 90 000 (but he would end disapointed since it's still lower than his previous body, & that's hilarious), & still would be less effective since he lacks everything that made Goku's body special. That gets me wondering though. If he were to change bodies with a god like Shin, or Beerus. Would he become a god? Or would only be able to use the body's base strength without any godly energy? Because at this point, the brand of power the Gods carry is Completly different from what anyone in the universe has. Afterall, no person could sense their ki, & neither would the scouters. This isn't a simple Hiding energy gimmick, it's a completly different state of being, spiritual even. So if Ginyu were to take over Beerus's body, would he be as strong as Beerus's base body? Or would Beerus's soul carry his Destroyer ki into Ginyu's old body? I mean, it wouldn't make much of a difference for Beerus. He becomes a purple cowman instead of a cat. But I'm pretty curious how strong a godless base form Beerus would be. Regardless, Ginyu was only scary & effective because most of the universe operated under the Brute force brand while Frieza was ruling, but nowadays his body switch would be more of a Hostage situation than a simple power swap.
Always was a Ginyu fan & still am ! He was far beyond the Ginyu force in strength & brains ! He defeated Goku 1 on 1 without outside interference that's a fact !
Hey Laughingstock Media, I know this suggestion is kind of "out there" as far as your usual content is concerned but I would love to see you do a video exploring a "what if" battle between a T-800 series Terminator and an average person wearing T-60 Power Armor from the Fallout games franchise. I know you're a big fan of the Terminator movies and reference it alot in your videos and always thought these two universe's go hand-in-hand with each other. Hopefully you like the idea!
Not sure if I'll do a vid on this, but I'd say that the Power Armor wins. You can see in-game what it does when fighting against synths, which are based on T-800s. Not that it's a 1/1 comparison but I'd be doubtful that a T-800 could beat someone trained to use the armor, combined with a Gatling gun or one of the other usual weapons. Maybe if it can exploit openings or get underneath it to the wearer, but that's about it.
@@LSMMIKE I dunno man! With energy weaons, sure that gives the T-60 armor guy an edge. But, I dare say a T-800 is much more advanced and tougher than a synth, despite the obvious similarities! Also, Terminators can accurately duel-wield plasma rifles due to their CPU's targeting systems and its titanium alloy from Skynet could be hard enough to sustain fire from a minigun if it wasn't armor-piercing or .50 caliber! Could make for a good discussion video-essay!
If Ginyu uses his body change on the z fighters now, he could overwhelm them as shown in Xenoverse 2 and how he switched with Goku Black and used his own strength against him which means he could be stronger than a lot of the warriors of all the universe if he can change with them and how to use their powers against them
Yeah, fighterz had Ginyu think about switching bodies with cell, and if the jr’s get that power as well, it’s a real game changer. That and cells potential, with him also having the stinger to restrain and absorb beings, he could become like android 21 if he absorb buu, but he would need train just to multiply his power by 4 times, but he will have 7 years. (Strangely Goku and Vegeta had 7 years to get stronger, but their ssj2 is just as powerful if not slightly above teen Gohan ssj2, I just feel like them going ssj2, should have been more powerful with them having 7 years, and Goku fighting and training everyday in other world.)
I honestly really like Captain Ginyu and agree, he is really underrated though I also think Super didn’t really do a great job bringing him back personally
I think the coolest and least talked about concept about captain Ginyu is how old he actually is since it makes sense that he can avoid dying of old age by switching bodies. His extreme loyalty can be explained by his closeness to the cold family so if this is the most powerful body he’s ever had, he likely believes himself to be so outclasssed by them that it’s not worth trying. Then add in the idea he might be hundreds or thousands of years old and I begin to wonder just how long he’s been serving the Cold Empire. Unfortunately it’s all headcanon, since I’m positive Toriyama wasn’t thinking about it any further than as a special attack for him to use, but the implications are fun to think about.
Captain Ginyu has always been one of my favorite characters in dbz even tho we was around for such a short time in the original run. i liked him for his personality and character design.
Good video Laughingstock media. Ginyu had some pretty impressive power estimations as he was 6-7 times more powerful than saiyan saga vegeta who could destroy earth size planets, he made namek saga goku go kaioken just to beat him and also he had a power level about 1/5-1/4 of first form freeza who is a casual large planet buster. Most importantly he's body switch technique was OP.
Kinda wish they went with the route of ginyu taking over the body of just some random frieza soldier and then escaping the planet in the resurrection F arc. Could be interesting to have his character still be a factor in a future story
With Ginyu being unable to use Goku's body to it's fullest potential, what should have happened is he should be able to use his full base power, but just be unable to tap into kaioken. That way he doesn't seem like he doesn't understand his own technique. He should have experience with it, because it's implied he would swap until he got his current body, being the 3rd strongest in the universe at the time. Goku's body reading very low, and raising his power to full only as he needs it doesn't seem too complicated, especially since Ginyu of all people recognized that strategy, so he should understand how to raise it to 90,000 at least. I liked the strategy of him damaging his own body before switching, but if toriyama wanted to make his move fail, then he should have switched normally, figure out he can't tap into that "180,000" power from before because he doesn't know the technique, and have Goku on Ginyu's body overpower him. Then there wouldn't be that inconsistency
I lump the body change with the candy beam of Buu. At a certain point, a strong enough enemy would be able to resist. My bet is that failing to connect results in instant death, so he'd need to be able to overpower them or trick them into vulnerability.
Throw Devilman's attack that one-shots anyone with any evil in him in there for things that probably don't scale up infinitely. Otherwise, Devilman is this incredibly busted character. Of course, it'd be a great filler episode to just have Devilman oneshot Golden Freeza or something.
I was always a fan of Ginyu and the whole force. As a kid, they were all badass and I always wanted their backstories. It's a shame that power creep is so prevalent in Dragon Ball, people compare everything to Goku and main enemies without realizing that with the exception of the Z-fighters, Main antagonist, Gods and some others, the Ginyu force could easily solo literally everyone in the fucking universe.
My problem is...I assume frieza knows about the body change so I would assume he would not let that work on him. Plus I hate when people say plot armor because if ginyu was wrote in the way that the video is saying he should have been written couldn't that have been seen as plot armor?
Pretty sure Frieza is well aware of his change ability which would make it very hard to change with him. It would have to be with someone that has no knowledge of it otherwise they would try to kill him quickly
Why I think Ginyu is awesome 1. He is shown to be a seasoned warrior, unlike his troops, he didn’t rely on his scouter or underestimate Goku for being a Saiyan. While he didn’t guess Goku would be THAT strong, he did reprimand jeice for getting cocky against him and was right on the money abt how Goku was concealing his power aside from brief bursts when he attacks. He also has some sense of honor as when Jeice attacks Goku from the sidelines, he again reprimands him and refuses to attack Goku even though jeice gave him an opening to do so. Ig this could be more of a pride thing, but he did call it cowardly for Jeice to do that, meaning he himself wouldn’t 2. He is shown to genuinely care abt his men. Even if it was mostly bc it threw off his poses, Ginyu was enraged by his force’s deaths. This is expanded on in games like Xenoverse and FighterZ 3. He is p much the only one of Frieza’s soldiers that isn’t treated like shit. Despite bristling at his posing and dancing, Frieza never threatened Ginyu even when he was mad abt being unable to summon Porunga and in Super was happy abt his return. I’m sure this is bc Frieza appreciates his genuine loyalty (over his other soldiers who would kill him if they could) and efficiency 4. He’s overall hilarious and kinda nuts-just look at his freakout when Goku powers up 5. His little cameos throughout the series as a frog
I thought that the low class soldiers like you mentioned I thought they would be like in the 400s or 300s so that would be equal to piccolo and goku from the early sayian saga when they fight against raditz
If he was resurrected in the tournament of power he would have switched bodies with someone powerful then on and on and hopefully fkin carry the switch body is so good
Well, Ginyu could conceivably take over whoever and as we saw when he swapped with Goku he does think it through and wouldn't just swap without also somehow crippling his previous form, I would think it would rely on how much of the power is Physical and how much is Mental. Obviously since he retained the ability to swap it's not unique to his Physical form. He probably is able to figure out special techniques over time and adapt from experience another Trait that would signify a strong mind. But if he were to change with a character who is able to adapt and it wouldn't really matter how high the power level of say Beerus' body is if it turns out to be a matter of the mind or spirit I imagine in such an event Ginyu would be stuck with a decently strong alien cat body with no godly power where as Beerus would be able to basically turn Ginyu's previous body into the absolute best form of itself, Basically making it God level immediately. Basically wouldn't matter what body if the person controlling it can push any body to the max and beyond or simply outsmart you. but I dunno seems more like that would involve more thought based fighting similar to Code Geass or the various uber smart guy vs the world type animes which isn't really Dragon Ball's bag.
Great video you should checkout the multiverse fan manga, it’s really good, the manga shows you how different situations can occur if one small thing was changed such as “what if krillin killed vegeta” or “what if vegetto was a permanent fusion” in one of the chapters captain ginyu body changing technique makes him a very huge threat, and the way the character was used was very believable and fantastic.
In other videos I've watched on RUclips, I've stumbled across comments wondering why Ginyu was so easily able to use Togoma's body in Super, whereas he struggled to use Goku's body in the original Z. I have a theory as to why Ginyu had so much difficulty using Goku's powers, but there was no such handicap when it came to using Togoma's. There may be holes in it, and I'm sure there are other explanations out there, but since I don't know any, I came up with one on my own lol. Back when Goku was a kid, he did a lot of specialized training. This included drinking a potion that unlocked the ability to sense energy levels, learning to manipulate fire and water with his fists, move around without jingling a bell or sloshing the water in a jar, and even dodge lightning. Something tells me that training of this sort would involve mental exercises as well as physical. He made use of the link between mind and body, whereas members of the Frieza force were all about brute strength. I mean even Togoma said that his training consisted of letting Frieza repeatedly beat him senseless, then healing up in a rejuvenation capsule. I think it all boils down to the fact that Togoma's body was easier to use than that of Goku. Due to Goku's training, he could use his powers in specific ways that Ginyu had no way of knowing about. Again, this is just my own personal explanation, and I'm sure there are other ones out there.
There's the easier explanation that Ginyu just doesn't know the Kaio-Ken. Without it, Goku's base power, while nothing to sneeze at, was nothing in comparison to his power with it.
@@pattersong6637 Even taking that into consideration, Ginyu's fighting power inside Goku's body was only 23000, but after all of that training during the flight to Namek, surely his base power was higher than that, even without the Kaio Ken multiplier. It could be a combination of both of those theories. I guess unless/until we get any kind of official explanation, all we can do is speculate.
Captain Ginyu during Freeza arc was much stronger than Vegeta on Namek, and Vegeta did distract Freeza and fought him some time after healing byDende. So basicaly Ginyu was second most close to Freeza by power after Goku (before Piccolos fusion with Nail).
Whiis/angels are constantly in ultra instinct state so I doubt they'd be susceptible but if he DID take over their body, I think their hair would change colour given that white is the colour hair goes in ultra instinct, but my question then is, what colour would their hair be if they weren't in ultra instinct ??
He may have wanted to take freiza’s body but most likely was too scared to attempt it. Freiza should have killed him before he had the attempted it on freiza.
Here's my thing did captain Ginyu you exist in the future trunk's timeline Because if he did then He would been able to have had chance to steal goku black's body while trunks and vegeta were fighting zamasu & goku black it's like were was captain Ginyu he could have helpt in the future timeline After seeing everyone suffer He could have teamed up to destroy zamasu along with everybody else.
5:05 - To be fair, I'd bet that if he managed to take over an angel or a god of destruction someone else would step in. Or maybe he'd get obliterated like *spoiler for the Moro arc* Meerus did. I'll also say, while no doubt Ginyu is potentially very powerful, eventually he'd always end up losing. Why? Because the big idea behind Dragon Ball is the idea of training and progression through struggle. Ginyu can just cheat to gain power by taking over someone else. So eventually whoever was the most powerful at the moment he took them over is going to fall behind someone who's been training. And then, unless he can also take that person over, he might be screwed.
I just want to remind everyone it was simple as Vegeta throwing a frog in front of the beam to stop him.... Let that sink in, he's underrated for a reason....

Regardless, Ginyu was only scary & effective because most of the universe operated under the Brute force brand while Frieza was ruling, but nowadays his body switch would be more of a Hostage situation than a simple power swap.
the real reason ginyu never stole freezas body was because he liked to torture him with the "daddys princess dance".
I won't say he's underrated. He's just outshined by other characters.
Frieza had to have something for him.. No way he'd let a threat run around without a check for him just in case
Hmm... I always assumed he couldn't take over Frieza like his hacs where negated by his power. Similar to Aizhan from Bleach.
Captain Ginyu has always been one of my favorite characters in dbz even tho we was around for such a short time in the original run.
i liked him for his personality and character design.
Dang ol Ginyu force man
Good video Laughingstock media.
If written correctly he could’ve been a VERY formidable foe for the Z Fighterz
Captain Ginu is basically the OG Goku Black
I always wondered if the form of ginyu we see in the freezer arcis even his original form or a stolen body
its a shame what super did to ginyu
Kinda wish they went with the route of ginyu taking over the body of just some random frieza soldier and then escaping the planet in the resurrection F arc. Could be interesting to have his character still be a factor in a future story
I never understood why ginyu never tried to steal friezas body.
Frieza is too alert
He would have to deal with king cold.
i loved Ginyu him and his crew they seem like chill dudes you would hang around with
that yuu yuu hakusho music, even though it was only 3 seconds, brought back old feelings from that show
I always thought he could not take over Frieze because he knew of this and would be able to evade it
What about completely artificial Androids? Like Android 16 or 19? I wonder if his body switch would work on them
Ah one of my favorite parts of the frieza saga getting some shine awesome.
What this vids title should have been,
“Why Captain Ginyus technique is Underrated”💀😂
The Ginyu force needs a spin off
This video makes me want too do the dance of joy
Love this Video Captain Ginyu has been my favorite dragon ball z character ever since I saw him on tonami back in the day
The ginyu force was wacky and till this day one of my favorite groups in dbz 😭they gave vegeta that work
Glad to see you upload regularly again!
Ive argued this 100 times fanboys cant handle the facts.
Would you say he’s the best leader ?
Wow you were right.. they did randomly unsub me from this channel.. Figured you were on a hiatus
Why I think Ginyu is awesome
1. Ig this could be more of a pride thing, but he did call it cowardly for Jeice to do that, meaning he himself wouldn’t
2. He is shown to genuinely care abt his men. Even if it was mostly bc it threw off his poses, Ginyu was enraged by his force’s deaths. This is expanded on in games like Xenoverse and FighterZ
3. He is p much the only one of Frieza’s soldiers that isn’t treated like shit. Despite bristling at his posing and dancing, Frieza never threatened Ginyu even when he was mad abt being unable to summon Porunga and in Super was happy abt his return. I’m sure this is bc Frieza appreciates his genuine loyalty (over his other soldiers who would kill him if they could) and efficiency
4. He’s overall hilarious and kinda nuts-just look at his freakout when Goku powers up
5. His little cameos throughout the series as a frog
Captain Ginyu was a Great Example of how to do a comedic villain in Dragon ball unlike some of the ones in the future
I thought that the low class soldiers like you mentioned I thought they would be like in the 400s or 300s so that would be equal to piccolo and goku from the early sayian saga when they fight against raditz
Pretty fun character
Wonder if Ginyu’s change beam can be deflected with a kaiai
My second favorite ginyu force character
Imagine he body switches as beerus he could get him when hes asleep an even body change with zeno
Captain Ginyu during Freeza arc was much stronger than Vegeta on Namek, and Vegeta did distract Freeza and fought him some time after healing byDende. So basicaly Ginyu was second most close to Freeza by power after Goku (before Piccolos fusion with Nail).
to see what ginyu could become check out the dragon ball multiverse story
Dude you are underrated !!!
For some reason I can't see Ginyu taking over an Angel or Zeno. Like maybe they'd have a passive counter, idk.
Therapist: Red eyed Zeno doesn't exist. He can't hurt you.
Red eyed Zeno:
Here's my thing did captain Ginyu you exist in the future trunk's timeline Because if he did then He would been able to have had chance to steal goku black's body while trunks and vegeta were fighting zamasu & goku black it's like were was captain Ginyu he could have helpt in the future timeline After seeing everyone suffer He could have teamed up to destroy zamasu along with everybody else.
Lol love that ginyu force theme...might just be my
Fav song in the dub.
Mike pulled a DC and Marvel with Captain Ginyu. 😁😁😂😂🤣🤣
Nice what if story if Vegeta got his immortal wish then Ginyu switched bodies with him
I just want to remind everyone it was simple as Vegeta throwing a frog in front of the beam to stop him.... Let that sink in, he's underrated for a reason....
What if Ginyu changed bodies with Vegito? Or what if he swapped bodies with Xeno? 👄
Nappa power level is 7900 or 8000. When he calmed down against goku he fought on par with goku. Goku even said the battle will take forever.
Always said captain ginyu was a great character with a lot of potential.
guldo is the real underrated one
Laughingstock Media, Goku was ultimately the one who defeated Ginyu by trapping in a frog's body. This is irrefutable fact.
